About the author

Liz Hedgecock grew up in London, England, did an English degree, and then took forever to start writing. After several years working in the National Health Service, some short stories crept into the world. A few even won prizes. Then the stories started to grow longer...
Now Liz travels between the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries, murdering people. To be fair, she does usually clean up after herself.
Liz’s reimaginings of Sherlock Holmes, her Pippa Parker cozy mystery series, and the Caster & Fleet Victorian mystery series (with Paula Harmon) are available in ebook and paperback.
Liz lives in Cheshire with her husband and two sons, and when she’s not writing or child-wrangling you can usually find her reading, messing about on Twitter, or cooing over stuff in museums and art galleries. That's her story, anyway, and she's sticking to it.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2024Another amazing Holmes tale by Liz Hedgecock. The quick style, the no nonsense sleuthing and the reflective narrative of Dr. Watson makes this an unforgettable story among the many cases of Sherlock Holmes.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2021I liked it. I'm always curious when kids are involved in a Holmes case, and this one was good.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2023I received this book as an Arc from the author and I’m writing a review because I want to. This is a short story about a deathly fog in which children vanish. The premise is good and it’s a great read!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2019I liked this Sherlock Holmes story, but it wasn't as good as Conan Doyle 's Sherlock stories. It was interesting.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2023A heavy fog settles in the worst slum area in London. Children are missing and Sherlock's help is requested by a concerned lady. The case moves along at a quick pace. I recommend it to all Sherlock and Watson fans.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2022Another will written British 🏰 Sherlock Holmes and Watson adventure thriller mystery short story book two in the Halloween 🎃Sherlock by Liz Hedgecock. A woman 🚺 comes to Sherlock about children are missing. Sherlock and Watson investigate and solve the mystery. I would recommend this novella to readers of mysteries and fans of Sherlock Holmes. Enjoy the adventure of reading. 2022 👑😃
- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2019A quick page turner that keeps the case moving at a
brisk pace, even if the strange fog hides far too many
things.
Because it is a short story, and yes there is a knack to
writing them, I will not give out much of the plot, as that
takes away from the author's thunder.
All I will say is, follow clues , they are all over the place.
Look for them.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2017It was a very good story. I wish it had been a little bit longer. It did feel somewhat rushed at the end but I would read more by this author. I would really like to see many more stories like this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short but excellent
Children disappear during thick fog - that would make a great newspaper headline except that these children were poor and "unimportant" in the eyes of society. But not to everyone.
Liz Hedgecock has crafted another great read - capturing the pea soup fog days of Victorian London in her Sherlock Holmes series. Atmospheric, intriguing and almost creepy, another gem to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner
Liz Hedgecock's latest Sherlock yarn is up to her usual good standard. Similar in length to most of Conan Doyle's so its really just a short story. I enjoyed it.
Any hint at the plot would probably give too much away but its safe to say there is a fog and it is, of course, insidious.
She has Holmes and more particularly Watson to a 'T'. I look forward to her writing something more substantial soon. Something longer like "House of Mirrors". But then I'm sure she's very busy! Demanding readers will have to wait no doubt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric
This is a Holmes style novelette reminiscent of the Conan Doyle stories which were its inspiration. Thick, pea-soupers conjure up the old London, and children are disappearing in the fogs. Holmes and Watson are on the case. The author really gets the atmosphere of the time, and the attitudes of the better off to those who live in ragged conditions in the 'rookeries' of the old London. It's a great little read.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Deathly Fog
Very short story about poor life in London. More of a moralistic tale including Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. .
- Ian TitlerReviewed in the United Kingdom on March 21, 2018
4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all
Not bad at all, mysterious fog, mystery deaths, children going missing. Dr Watson taken ill, can the pair work it all out and prevent more deaths and missing children?
