Liz Hedgecock grew up in London, England, did an English degree, and then took forever to start writing. After several years working in the National Health Service, some short stories crept into the world. A few even won prizes. Then the stories started to grow longer...

Now Liz travels between the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries, murdering people. To be fair, she does usually clean up after herself.

Liz’s reimaginings of Sherlock Holmes, her Pippa Parker cozy mystery series, and the Caster & Fleet Victorian mystery series (with Paula Harmon) are available in ebook and paperback.

Liz lives in Cheshire with her husband and two sons, and when she’s not writing or child-wrangling you can usually find her reading, messing about on Twitter, or cooing over stuff in museums and art galleries. That's her story, anyway, and she's sticking to it.

Another amazing Holmes tale by Liz Hedgecock. The quick style, the no nonsense sleuthing and the reflective narrative of Dr. Watson makes this an unforgettable story among the many cases of Sherlock Holmes.

I liked it. I'm always curious when kids are involved in a Holmes case, and this one was good.

I received this book as an Arc from the author and I’m writing a review because I want to. This is a short story about a deathly fog in which children vanish. The premise is good and it’s a great read!

I liked this Sherlock Holmes story, but it wasn't as good as Conan Doyle 's Sherlock stories. It was interesting.

A heavy fog settles in the worst slum area in London. Children are missing and Sherlock's help is requested by a concerned lady. The case moves along at a quick pace. I recommend it to all Sherlock and Watson fans.

A quick page turner that keeps the case moving at a
brisk pace, even if the strange fog hides far too many
    things.
Because it is a short story, and yes there is a knack to
writing them, I will not give out much of the plot, as that
takes away from the author's thunder.
All I will say is, follow clues , they are all over the place.
    Look for them.

It was a very good story. I wish it had been a little bit longer. It did feel somewhat rushed at the end but I would read more by this author. I would really like to see many more stories like this one.

Children disappear during thick fog - that would make a great newspaper headline except that these children were poor and "unimportant" in the eyes of society. But not to everyone.

Liz Hedgecock has crafted another great read - capturing the pea soup fog days of Victorian London in her Sherlock Holmes series. Atmospheric, intriguing and almost creepy, another gem to read.

Liz Hedgecock's latest Sherlock yarn is up to her usual good standard. Similar in length to most of Conan Doyle's so its really just a short story. I enjoyed it.

Any hint at the plot would probably give too much away but its safe to say there is a fog and it is, of course, insidious.

She has Holmes and more particularly Watson to a 'T'. I look forward to her writing something more substantial soon. Something longer like "House of Mirrors". But then I'm sure she's very busy! Demanding readers will have to wait no doubt.

This is a Holmes style novelette reminiscent of the Conan Doyle stories which were its inspiration. Thick, pea-soupers conjure up the old London, and children are disappearing in the fogs. Holmes and Watson are on the case. The author really gets the atmosphere of the time, and the attitudes of the better off to those who live in ragged conditions in the 'rookeries' of the old London. It's a great little read.

Very short story about poor life in London. More of a moralistic tale including Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. .

Not bad at all, mysterious fog, mystery deaths, children going missing. Dr Watson taken ill, can the pair work it all out and prevent more deaths and missing children?
