Short, sweet, and beautiful story of love right when you need it. Looking for an escape to somewhere happy look no further than Following Maggie, just follow Seb he's following Maggie too. After meeting in the airport and forging a connection that won't let go they're going to hold on to it. Follow it and embrace their new beginnings and each other. I have voluntarily left this review.

    There was a time when I gobbled up quite a few insta-love stories, mostly because they were super quick reads that provide the reader with a satisfactory happily-ever-after. Think of it as instant satisfaction, but I did grow tired of it after a while. There's just something about delayed gratification, I guess. That being said, I always try to keep myself open to all things book-wise. I still enjoy the occasional insta-love story, albeit I look for that something extra that makes it stand out. Welp, I needn't look far this time around because Melanie Moreland, who has easily become one of my favorite go-to authors over the last couple of years or so, has a new book out. Yes, it has a touch of insta to it, although it's more insta-spark than actual insta-love, and she's written the story in a way that could well make you believe (again for those who no longer do!) in the idea of love at first sight.

    Following Maggie is the fourth book in the multi-author Coming Home series. Fun fact: I had no idea it was part of an ongoing series or that there were other authors involved. While reading, I was curious about two established couples in the story, and I wondered if they were already in published stories from Melanie Moreland. A little bit of searching after I finished reading made me realize the whole multi-author series thing. All that being said, Moreland's book can very much be read as a standalone. This is the story of Maggie Andrews and Sebastian Ruggers, two twenty-somethings who meet while stuck at the airport during a snowstorm. She's heading to the only place she's ever considered home; he's going back to a place that should have felt like home but hasn't been that in years. Their connection is instant and unlike anything they've ever experienced before, but could this be nothing more than a fluke or could this all be something extraordinary?

    This romance had me, hook, line, and sinker! I was attached to Maggie and Sebastian from the moment she spied him sleeping across a set of seats in one of the waiting area at the airport. There was just something about these two that I found utterly irresistible, and becoming emotionally invested in them and their story was a no-brainer. I loved the journey these two were on--that search for home and the realization that home isn't a structure or a location; rather it's the person you're with. While this may have been a fairly quick read, it packs a punch, thanks to Melanie Moreland's beautiful writing and her ability to bring originality and creativity to a well-worn trope, breathing new life into it. If you're looking for something light and easy with a teeny bit of angst to read this weekend, I highly recommend you follow my lead (and that of other romance readers who have fallen in love with this book) and spend some time Following Maggie (and Sebastian too). Five stars.

    Oh, my heart, I love stories like this so much! They may be even more of a favorite than a second chance romance, although this one certainly has its own variation of a second chance in it. Stories about lost souls finding each other and finding new souls to add to their family along the way, and nobody writes them quite like this incredibly gifted storyteller.

    Maggie is on her way home, but home is an empty house willed to her by her father in a small town where she has only one friend. She and Sebastian meet at the airport when a snowstorm grounds all the flights. He's on his way home to a father who disparages him, an apartment he’s never seen, and a job he would never choose on his own that will slowly extinguish the last glowing ember in his soul. But what if he blazes a new path? A path that feeds his songwriter’s soul and where Maggie is at the forefront?

    Once again, Moreland scores a direct heart hit with an enchanting, evocative story. It's all the feels and then some as Maggie and Sebastian face fear and uncertainty and together build a life full of possibilities in a closely knit small town. It’s a charming, touching, feel-good read that will make your soul sing and your heart happy sigh, so make sure don’t pass this one up!

    Through the chance encounter during a perfect snow storm, these lost and lonely characters find each other so randomly. However, it's clear from the beginning that Maggie and Sebastian are a fated, meant to be couple. These two strangers show each other immediate care and attention, while experiencing desire and a feeling of rightness. Sebastian is a perfect outgoing match to Maggie's quiet, shy but sure personality. Add in their determination to make a life together is inspiring and ultimately, truly fulfilling.
    Overall, this romance is a little bit of a whirlwind, but the genuineness of their feelings, wants and desires are so well matched and balanced, their HEA is guaranteed, nearly from the very start.

    The gods, but I adore Melanie Moreland’s books.

    Following Maggie was an absolutely charming read. I loved both Maggie and Sebastian… two lost and lonely people, not quite sure where life is leading them who meet in an airport in the middle of a snowstorm.

    What could have been a fleeting, once in a lifetime meeting turns into quite something else when they both take a leap of faith.

    I was captivated by the relationship that grew between the main characters. The family of choice that they built were wonderful and characters that I would like to know IRL.

    In Following Maggie, Melanie gave us the kind of read that is good for the heart and soul. An engaging story, a little drama - though not between the MCs - lots of love and romance, a great sense of family and of belonging and a whole lot of heat.

    I read Maggie & Sebastian’s story in one sitting, I didn’t want to put my kin down and I couldn’t wait to see how things played out for them.

    A definite recommended read, whether you are already acquainted with MM’s books or are new to her work.
