Why I wrote “For The Love Of Willy.”
‘I have been a lover of nature and every type of creature all my life. Through my life’s journey in caring for God’s creatures, a death or release of my beloved pets or creatures in my care has been a challenge for me emotionally each time.
I wrote this book with some of the things I’ve learned over the years to support me. I adore children and I have grandchildren, and I hope that this book will aid people of all ages with some techniques or ideas in how to create strength and hope in themselves when having to face the loss of a beloved one.’

Review
LONDON_ A children's story and activity book that uses art therapy and a moving tale to help overcome the loss of a pet is the winner of the 2023 London Book Festival, which honors the best of international publishing.
Author Nancy Addison's "For The Love of Willy: Overcoming Sadness After Losing a Beloved Pet" (Organic Healthy Lifestyle Publishing) tells the tale of a woman's bond with an injured baby squirrel. She nurtures Willy back to good health, but eventually must leave him in a sanctuary. However, along that path, she learns to find happiness in her memories, art and expressions of love.
The book provides helpful tips for children to lift their spirits and find happiness again when they are sad about losing a pet.
"Congratulations on a truly moving book. It brought a tear to my eye.
So many children's book purport to teach empathy and fall far short.
Yours hits the note perfectly." London Book Festival - Best , Bruce

A great story and a great lesson for children
This is a delightful book, which tells an entertaining story about an injured squirrel, and the obstacles that come along as a nature lover nurtures the squirrel back to health and then has to cope with the challenges of finding a new home for the squirrel and a sense of loss when she ultimately must give the squirrel up. There is much discovery here for a young child that could have a profound influence on the child's awareness of nature and the joy in befriending an animal, as well as a deeper understanding of the intricate intertwinings of love and loss and remembrance of special experiences in the past. I also like the technique of highlighting selected vocabulary words that are then defined in a glossary in the back. So many dimensions to the lessons this book conveys to an impressionable child.

So I tried this book which helps explain things on a level he could understand and made him comforted knowing this is a part of life. He was able to read along with me and he loved the pictures in the book. Great book and we would highly recommend it.
