I enjoyed reading this story. I never read anything by this Author before. But I will in the future. It was well written and had a good story line.

I really enjoyed this! There was humor, romance, suspense, and good MCs, and fun SCs. I did feel the ending was a bit abrupt, and I would have liked an epilogue. Still a keeper though!

I did enjoy this story. It was easy to read. I did not like Sandra. She was a little too much Rupert's business and very inappropriate. What changed my thoughts to negative about this book was that all it took for Luke to get over his trauma was the love of a good man. Really?! It's that easy? Months of seeing a doctor did nothing but Rupert being there was able to break through and even after knowing Luke for a whole five days!

New to me author. This story is set in the UK. It’s a mm romance with a big dose of mystery. Main characters are are Englishman Rupert a journalist with the BBC and Luke an American with amnesia. After a chance meeting they try to solve the reasons behind Luke’s amnesia. Great story and a page turner.

A mystery-thriller heavy on the romance, and plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments. Rupert is a famous British television journalist, whose London apartment is damaged by water overflowing from his upstairs neighbor's apartment. When he runs upstairs to confront his neighbor, he finds the man on the bathroom floor, unconscious. The man (Luke) has lost all his memory and has no idea who he is or how he got there, but he's trying to recover his memories and piece his life back together.

Rupert and Luke find themselves drawn to each other, but a few strange things start happening. A mysterious man approaches Rupert on the street and warns him to stay away from Luke. Who is this man?

Luke seems to be getting better, until Rupert's phone rings and a face appears on the screen. This causes Luke to panic and runs away in terror. What causes Luke's terror-infused panic attack?

Meanwhile young gay men in different parts of Britain are committing suicide by hanging. Rupert feels those suicides might not really be suicides, and he starts to investigate. What is causing these young men to kill themselves?

And is there a connection between all these occurrences?

For a while there, I was on the edge of my seat, expecting this to have a tragic ending. I won't spoil it by saying how it ends, but there are some intense moments in there.

When Rupert Pendley-Evans comes home to find that his bedroom ceiling has collapsed from water that has soaked through it, he's angry. He rushes upstairs to find a man naked on the bathroom floor. While comforting the man, Rupert has unfamiliar feelings of nurturing and concern for this stranger, feelings that are atypical for him. Rupert is, at best, a short-term lover with as little emotional involvement as possible. He does what he can for the stranger whose name is Luke, who seems to have fallen in the tub and hit his head, then calls for an ambulance.

Since Rupert’s apartment is ruined, Luke invites him to stay in his spare bedroom until the apartment celling can be repaired. Without a better option, Rupert agrees. Luke tells Rupert that he has no memory of his life before the last few months. The police finally recover his wallet along with his cell phone. Luke’s driver's license confirms Luke’s identity. Other than that, he has no idea about his past.

Almost before he realizes it, Rupert becomes emotionally invested in Luke, even though he doesn't understand it. Since Luke is gorgeous, and he is physically attracted to him. Since Luke is in a vulnerable position, Rupert doesn't want to do anything to make it worse for him, so he tries to stay on the friendship side of the relationship and fails miserably. Luke is wary of starting anything because of the uncertainly of his life. He confuses Rupert by coming on to him one minute then pushing him away another. Rupert is frustrated and confused, but tries to be understanding. Besides having amnesia, Luke displays quirks that worry Rupert – like not answering his phone and becoming terrified when he sees the display or anything else that looks like a screen. Most frustrating is that Luke freaks out when Rupert mentions certain things, but can't tell Rupert why. Rupert has noticed paintings on the walls and asks Luke about them. Luke admits he's the artist and offers to show Rupert his studio that's in his attic. When Rupert's phone rings, Luke shoots to his feet and runs down the stairs with no explanation. Rupert has had it. He goes into his office, determined to put Luke and any feelings he may have for the man behind him.

This a complicated mystery with lots of subplots that were often more confusing than helpful. I normally enjoy complex mysteries, but I had trouble sorting this one out. When Luke and Rupert finally get in bed, the sex is hot, but I still didn't feel like I knew either one of them well. The plot of the mystery is good and the supporting characters, particularly Rupert's coworker and friend, Sandra, were a hoot. Thanks, David, for an interesting mystery. I'm a confirmed fan of David C Dawson's books now and I received an ARC copy for this review. He's not disappointed in For the Love of Luke. There's not only a developing love affair, but also an amnesia mystery which is based on a subject that's very topical for gay people right now. Couldn't be better timing.
The book is very clever in that you don't get to fully know Luke for quite a long time because the first half of the book is only written from the perspective of the other hero Rupert Pendley-Evans. So you're not quite sure whether to like Luke or not. Then the viewpoint switches and you finally begin to understand the way he is.
In some ways I began to realise what was happening about half way through the book, but that didn't spoil it for me because the climax is very exciting. There are also many touching moments, particularly when you get to know Rupert's posh parents!
    A great read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great story but feels incomplete

    3.5☆
Interesting concept but did not quite deliver, there was a lot still unfinished in the end - not a cliffhanger but personal aspects left hanging. There were a couple mysteries going on and that part was well done with learning more details and making connections until they are shockingly resolved. As for the characters - both main and secondary - they were unique individuals with clearly different personalities. Luke and Rupert met in a shocking way and the attraction was immediate but their journey has a few ups and downs, secrets, steamy passion, and danger to get through before love and a future is possible.
Perhaps an epilogue would have given some clarity and answered questions.

After reading three books of the Delingpole Mystery Series, I immediately ordered this book, his first. It was every bit as good as the others. It is a very well told story that kept me captivated to the end. I want more!

5.0 out of 5 stars An evil plot foiled by an overflowing bath.

Insta love, steamy sex and a lot of laughs. Plus torture, mental health problems, terror and remote killing. Rupert’s friends and colleagues are a scream, and his stuffy old fashioned parents turn out to be quite the opposite, Rupert’s world view gets a huge update. Life around Rupert and Luke is never going to be boring. There is an issue about repetition. I get it, Luke is from the USA, but ‘American’ is mentioned 67 times!
