Forced Play for Libby (Men of Baseball Book 3) Kindle Edition

3.9 out of 5 stars 150 ratings

Elizabeth "Libby" Lillian Montgomery-McGrath was born and bred—bred to be the perfect, polished wife of some well to do man who would probably never love her. Then she laid eyes on Pete McGrath, a bad boy who would undoubtedly be unacceptable by the standards of her family.

For Libby, it was love at first sight. To her complete and utter astonishment, her father not only accepted Pete, but encouraged and rushed them into marriage. She thought she had been given her happily ever after, but the honeymoon never lasts forever...

Pete and Libby appear to be the perfect couple from the outside. Affectionate, beautiful, successful and rich, strangers envy them and their friends adore them.

Pete McGrath harbors hidden truths that eat away at him daily, destroying the love he holds for his Libby.

One email threatens their picture perfect marriage, exposing their most intimate imperfections. Libby is devastated, Pete's eyes are opened, and he's forced to play for the woman he loves.

For the first few chapters of this book, I was seriously considering chucking my kindle across the room because Pete, the leading man, is seriously horrible. I thought there was NO WAY I was going to turn around and like this guy. I was wrong.

As the story unfolded, and we are let in on WHY Pete is the way he is, it's impossible not to feel some compassion for the guy. He is all alpha male and he goes all in when he decides to win Libby back. By the end of the story, I was cheering him on!

The other part that made me crazy is...... I don't know how Libby put up with his crap for 7 years. But somehow, she finally finds the strength to leave and THAT is when Pete has an epiphany and decides he really does love his wife!

I loved that this book's characters were so developed and even though the sex is..... oh my word, I can't even describe how awesome the love and sex scenes are (because these two make love and they have sex - and whew, it is totally different!!...... I loved that they are so deeply entwined in the story that It's not JUST about the sex!.

This was a hot and steamy read that I (once again) could not put down!!

This book was recommended in a group in in. I was excited to try a new author for me. It started out great and then slowly started to go down hill. I can't stand when the cheater gets away with only a simple apology and then it's her fault for bringing it up. Then everyone telling the h that she needs to forgive and forget. Seriously!!!! Even the grandmother wanted her to forgive the seven years of cheating and hateful words. Ugh.... NO that needed serious groveling on broken glass...

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I haven't read the previous book in this series, but I may end up looking in to it! Sooooo, we begin with a very unfaithful Pete. Pete and Libby have been married for seven year, but in name only. When Libby has finally had enough of his crap she leaves like any sane woman would. This finally makes Pete come to his senses that Libby is wayyyy too good for him. This book was basically how they worked their way back to each other.

I do admit that I didn't much care for Pete at first, and I DID NOT like the things he said to her at the beginning. But in his defense he did have an okay reason, but we all make mistakes, some bigger than others. I still do not find his cheating in any way okay. I did like Libby, though. She remained relatively strong throughout the whole ordeal, and her family has more problems than anyone can count. I can say that I hope her 'dad' rots in Hades for eternity. But my favorite member of Libby's family would be Grammy Lillian! She is definitely one of a kind with her spunk for an older woman!

These two characters will have to overcome their fair share of obstacles before they can get to home plate. At first it seemed that the hits would never stop coming, but to win big you have to risk a lot. My only problems with this book is that the f-word was said A LOT. Usually that has no effect on me, but I think it could have been used just a little less. And then there was the massive amount of dirty scenes. I mean I guess they were making up for seven years worth of neglect to their relationship, but my word! I do have to admit that these scenes were pretty steamy, though. Overall, this is a good story of redemption in a relationship that was almost completely lost. If you are okay with reading the concept of cheating then I think you should give it a shot!

She did it again! This is an amazing series and Forced Play for Libby didn't disappoint. From the previous books, I didn't see Libby and Pete's issues coming. I loved being surprised. There is a lot of family manipulation and difficult choices that lead Pete and Libby to do the things they do. I was so proud of Libby throughout the story. She decided she had had enough and made Pete wake up and work to gain her love back. I usually hate books where the cheater gets taken back, but not this one. It was a hard struggle, but the way their story was written, you root for Libby and Pete to work it out. The problems were real and their struggle to re-conenct was not glossed over. This is an excellent book.

Pete and Libby are my favorite couple from this series. Pete starts out being a real ahold, but he certainly makes up for it in the end. Definitely a must read for any Hayley fan!

Pete was an a****** in the beginning and I had a hard time getting over that even though he seemed to truly change throughout the rest of the story. The fact that it took him so long to decide to make changes made it even more difficult. Overall yeah the story has its up points but for me personally cheating is one of those things that is very difficult for me to read in the story and still enjoy it.

Oh boy, Pete is a dirty boy while also being a bad boy. Libby and Pete meet in college and have that instant attraction/spark. Pete is the kid from the wrong side of the tracks that is an amazing baseball player which got him a scholarship. When Libby takes Pete home to meet the parents, well, his life takes a turn as a deal is struck that is sickening. Libby’s dad is the biggest jerk I’ve ever experienced but then as the story unfolds we see his true motivation but still, AUGH, what an ugly thing to plot for your daughter. Libby and Pete marry but life isn’t all rosy as Pete treats her horribly for 7 years. Libby is so confused, she does everything she can think of to win over her husband to no avail. This is hard to take at times, the cheating Pete does on Libby, it was hard to understand but having Pete’s point of view helped as she learned about the deal and the ugliness he feels about himself. The road to an HEA isn’t easy as Libby and Pete have to face all the demons in their marriage and find a way to love and trust each other to move forward. All the while, Pete and Libby light up the pages with dirty erotic sex, Pete is a very dirty boy.
