Octavius Evander here. I suppose you have come to see how it all ends. Well, ‘ends’, as in, we’ve reached the end of this part of my story. It wouldn’t be proper of me to move on until we finish it all off, right?

As this is the last book in this series, I feel it is my duty, to end things with a bang! A glittery bang. By bang, I mean, a giant, super cool, Halloween party. And what a party it was… Costumes, decorations, family, frenemies, scares, Turney screaming and clinging on to me—fun times! Not so fun was the interruption to said party. It really was unfair to me. I was on vacation from real murder and mayhem—case related mayhem only—yet somehow, someone had the audacity to be murdered. Inconsiderate people all around!

But you didn’t all come here just for the Halloween party. I know that. There is a certain someone you are waiting to hear about, I’m sure. A certain horrible, maggot of a person. Well…you won’t be disappointed. That issue will be solved, once and for all. The question you may be asking yourselves now is, how will it be solved? All I’m willing to say is, it happened in an unusual and extremely unprepared way. While, you shouldn’t worry too much, as my story, my precious Turney’s story, has a happy ending…it may be good to keep in mind that happiness sometimes shines brightest right after despair.

    Octavius and the gang are back. And it doesn't take long for mayhem to occur. No one is safe from Octavius and his celebration of Halloween. The antics of the crazy vampire and his children had me cracking up. I wanted to be a guest in that party, lol. And Octavius wanted it to be the celebration of the year so nothing, not even murder, was gonna stop his party. But this was not the main case of the story, only a minor inconvenience. Octavius still needed to deal with his greatest enemy, the one that caused him the most pain by almost taking his Turney away. But little do they know that they still had more pain and suffering to endure, making my heart ache for them. Facing his enemy was not easy, but Octavius was fighting for his life and lives of the people he cherished the most. And loved that Octavius defeated his enemy with a weapon least expected but dearly loved, great little twist.
    But no worries, they do get their HEA, giving their heart and mine the much deserved happiness after this wild emotional ride. The author does a fabulous job of weaving all the loose threads to create a phenomenal ending to this addicting series....full of suspense, action, humor, steam, and all kinds of emotions.
    I was very sad that this was the final book since I love this group of misfits. But I read the author's note informing us that there will be a spin off based on the side characters (yaaay, can't wait for Henry and Cormac) and another one based on more cases for this crazy group to solve (woohoo)

    I adore this series and its overload of cuteness. Octavius and Turney are so perfect together and can there be a better supporting cast of characters? Which is why I was so excited to read the author’s note at the end. The guys are getting a second series! And there will be a spin-off series for the rest of the gang! Score!

    Back to this book. Act one: the great house party. Of course Octavius' favorite holiday is Halloween and of course he is over the top about it. I like reading about all the glee he took in everything. And Turney just loves him through it all. Act two: the haunted hotel. I actually wish we’d gotten more chapters at this location, it would make a great movie.

    I can’t wait to read more about this group and their perfect dynamic.

    I would say that I'm going to miss these guys but, thankfully, the author is going to have another off shoot series about the detective agency. There is just something about Octavius and Turney that grabbed me right from the start. Octavius seems just a little fey and that makes me want to take care of him and keep him safe (although, sorry Octavius, I draw the line at the glitter). This author has quickly become one of my favorites and I've already pre-ordered several of her new offerings. One thing I really liked about these books (as well as the stories and terrific writing) were the wonderful drawings at the beginning of each chapter. I would love it if all of these drawings were put together into a book of their own so I could look at it often and enjoy all the cuteness!

    It's a shame that this is the last book in the series because I felt like this volume was the most fun. Octavius has such a great time preparing for the Halloween party that Turney practically suffers from a heart attack daily. However, when a murder occurs in the midst of the greatest Halloween party of the year, it does not stop Octavius from enjoying himself and incorporating the murder mystery into the celebration. When the party ends and the team is thrown into another case, things get challenging and Octavius has the face his greatest enemy once and for all. Shelby does an excellent job keeping her readers at the edge of their seat that you just want to scream for more. I can't wait for her next works.

    This was a great end to the series! Honestly, before getting to the end I thought the big climax would happen too fast to really be awesome and satisfying but DANG!

    Basically the last 30% ish was the end to the main arc and it was packed full of so much action and anticipation and terror if it was longer it might have been overdone and boring. As it was, there was spine tingling horror and a genuine fear that the whole thing would end in massive tragedy.

    Exceptionally well done by the author! I loved every single second of this and would highly recommend this series to literally anyone.

    This is supposed to be Shelby Rhodes last book in this series and considering who is gone by the end of the book that’s not surprising but I sort of hope that we get maybe a small adventure with glitter sometime in the future. These are such fun, interesting and active characters that I can just imagine them whispering in Ms. Rhodes ear until she writes something down. I’ve had so many giggles and sighs while reading these stories and have been reminded why I used to like glitter, as long as I don’t have to clean it up.

    I am in shock still from this book. Good shock, but shock nonetheless. Octavius, Turney and their wonderful family have been through so much but the ending is one that is sweet and incredibly positive. Is it an absolute war getting there - certainly; are there moments where you curse Shelby’s name in despair at what’s happened - well I definitely did; is it somehow still a funny, exciting, heartwarming journey that manages to have everyone where they should be and looking to a very bright future (obviously with murder and mayhem involved, and glitter, soooo much glitter) - absolutely. This was a wild ride from start to finish but I am so glad I got to enjoy it. These are some of my favourite characters and I am ecstatic that we will get to see them again in spin-off series (including one which focusses on the other family members’ HEA, and I have so many hopes for all the possible pairings!). I’m not going to say much more as I do not want to possibly spoil anything so I will leave it at this: Octavius and his family are better than Halloween, glitter and murder mysteries combined and I cannot wait to see what kind of mischief and mayhem they get up to next!
