Forgotten: Luca (The Four Book 1) Kindle Edition
That’s what I keep telling myself, but it doesn’t make it any easier to sleep at night… or to drown out the words he kept repeating over and over the day we’d met: I just want to go home.
That was eight long years ago and I’d only known him as Billy, a terrified fourteen-year-old I’d had to leave behind to save someone else.
But his name wasn’t Billy and he’s no longer a frightened kid lost in a world where he was nothing more than a possession. His name is Remy, and while I didn’t recognize him upon meeting him again, he sure as hell remembers me.
It would be easier just to turn my back on him a second time, especially since that’s exactly what he wants, but there’s no way I can let the tormented young man go. At least not without trying to make things right first. The problem is, even if I can make up for leaving Remy behind so long ago, I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk away from him twice.
I don’t know what that means, but I do know that it scares the hell out of me.
Because needing in my world comes at a heavy price… one that not even I can afford to pay.
He gave me hope when I’d had none left, but he forgot about me just like all the others…
I fight. That’s what I do. It’s who I am.
But when Luca Covello walked into the dark, dirty room my captors were keeping me in so long ago, I’d already decided to do the one thing I hadn’t in the three years since I’d been taken from my home and family.
Give up.
Then he’d been there, like a bright light in a sea of darkness, and I’d had something new to fight for, to stay alive for… the day Luca came back to get me like he’d promised.
Except he never came.
And now, eight years later, he’s decided he wants to play the hero and save me. Well, I don’t need saving.
Not anymore… not ever.
Along with two years of sobriety under my belt, I’ve got a good job, a decent apartment, and I’ve managed to put my past where it belongs… in the past. No one, not even the gorgeous, mysterious businessman, is going to mess things up for me. If he’s come seeking forgiveness, I’m fresh out.
And if he’s come seeking something else… well, let’s just say that when I’m done with him, there’s no way he’ll forget me this time around.

About the author

Although Sloane Kennedy always dreamed of being a writer as a teenager, she didn't take the plunge until 2015 when she released her first novel. Since then, she has released nearly 30 books including the Amazon best-selling "Pelican Bay" and "Protectors" series. While she initially began writing M/F romance, she found her true passion writing gay romance and nearly all of her most recent releases reached the #1 spot on Amazon's Gay Romance bestseller list and several have made it to Amazon's overall bestseller list. Sloane was born in Germany but grew up in the U.S. and although she currently lives in Wisconsin, the place where she has always felt most at home is Seattle and many of her books take place in the Emerald city. When not writing, a menagerie of 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 horses takes up what little time she has left in the day!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2019This book was beautifully written. I loved Luca and his love for Remy. The content was stressful but worth it in the end. There love for each other is evident as their relationship evolves through some turbulent and stressful situations. I loved the ending beautiful touching and worth it in the end. This author has a way of making you feel everything about the characters in this book. I will read it again as I am sure as with all Sloanes book I get more out of them a second time. Can't wait for the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2024There is a lot of CSA in this book, so go into it knowing that. It was hard to read at times, but the love between Remy and Luca was sweet. They had a lot of fears and self doubts to overcome to be together.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2020Sloane Kennedy is one of the best author's at weaving a story with all the feels. She gives her characters such depth and takes great care to weave a story I easily invest in, 100%.
She is a master storyteller and her scenes have humor, angst, family, and enough heat to have me thinking about the scenes long after they have ended. This book is perfect. I have been wanting Remy's story since Dante introduced him to Magnus. It was more than I ever could have imagined.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2020This is a magnificently written story of the resurrection of three souls - while you in no way downplay the horror these two child victims lived through , i.e. Remy and Gio,you also show ,that beyond the vile evil that people are capable of , the profound possibilities of healing can also be achieved through a steadfast ,selfless love of the very same victims and their ability to resurrect into truly amazing human beings - no longer victims!
Thank you for this great Gift more than words can say.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2019Such an emotional and heart breaking story. Remy and Luca struggled and fought to find their happy ending and so glad they were successful. Ms Sloane Kennedy has me hooked on another of her series. Remy is so broken, sweet, and loving. He has overcome his anger at Luca for abandoning him so many years ago in a life of hell. Luca has to overcome his guilt of failing Remy and his son Gio. But together they find forgiveness, love, and understanding. And I'm happy she let Ronan and Dom visit in this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2024Wow… in Dante’s and later in Aleks’ stories, there are glimpses of trials of undercover work.
In Luca and Remy, we see both sides of the coin, and the consequences of those choices. Fast paced, sometimes brutal look at the forgotten, that were never let go of. And beauty of hope and second chances.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2019I love Sloane Kennedy's story telling. You feel as though you are there with the characters. The story of Luca and Remy was one which began in Unbroken, so it would benefit to read that before, but not necessarily needed. It does have some triggers in it but those warning are at the front of the book. I am looking forward to the next books in this series. I know you wondering why I haven't said anything more about the story, well I am no keen on spoilers, and the summary of the book does a good job. If you are a fan of the prior series then you will like this one as well. I am rarely disappointed with anything by Sloane Kennedy and this is no exception.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2020Written in dual first person POV. Couple of M/M sexy scenes. Not much humor. The plot is fairly boring (Luca encountered Remy but left him behind in order to save his own son and now feels guilt; Remy was abducted as a child and sold into the sex industry which he remained in after getting addicted to heroin, which he is now recovering from) with most of the action occurring in another book. The epilogue is like her other books in that it jumps forward a short period and does more to tease the next book as opposed to a full on HEA for the main couple.
This book is a direct spinoff of book 12 of the Protectors series and while the author thinks that this is book 1 of a new series and can be read as a standalone, I disagree. The previous books included a chart at the beginning so you’d know who was together, who their children were and how the characters were related, as well as which book contains their story. That chart is missing from the beginning of this book and I can honestly say that new readers will suffer because of it. In order to get the full story, you would need to read Protectors books 6 and 12 first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing new series
I've been waiting off this book to come out and it doesn't disappoint. Luca and Remy needed to have their stories told. As usual from this author you experience highs and lows and every emotion I can think of. By highs and lows I mean laughing one minute and crying the next.
Remy struggles daily, hourly with trying to forget his past but once he sees the one man who puts him back in his past, he runs. Remy thinks if he can just ignore the past it will be like it never happened. Although deep down he knows that's not true. He doesn't talk to Aleks about their past so he hates that his past is standing in front of him now.
Luca made a promise to a young boy years before and he'd broken it and now his failures were right in front of him. Luca can't help but want to protect Remy , shadow him to !make sure he's alright. Luca can't let go of the guilt. As these two men spend more time together they realise the past isn't always what it seems. Remy learns by facing his past he can gain the strength to remove the power it has over him. In amongst all of this Gio, Lucas son is back and suffering after his abduction.
It's fantastic to hear from Ronan , Dante and see how big this family is getting. But equally it is great to get to meet the newer members like King, Con and even Lex.
This is shaping up to be another fantastic series by this author. If you have only ever read this book by this of and loved it then I recommend you go to all the other books this author wrote. All her books have amazing characters who capture the imagination of the reader. Each one is unique and beautiful. Each book is unique in its story line and you will be sent on a rollercoaster ride of emotion. I can't recommend this book or in fact anything this author writes strongly enough. Great start to another great series.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3,5 stelle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect score
Again, Sloane Kennedy had me hooked, enthralled and intrigued up until the last page. There’s something comforting in all of Sloane Kennedy’s book and its why I never hesitate to one click whenever another one of her stories is out. This time tho, just like when Vincent’s book came, I was thrilled even before opening the first page of the prologue; I’ve been craving Luca’s and Remy’s story because I knew already it would be special. And without a single doubt, I was rightly served again. Love Luca (just as I knew I would, his tormented soul captivated me in the previous book (Protector Series). And Im definitely closing this with still wanting more because that’s just how good Sloane Kennedy is; a fine wine you never can pass because it has a sweet savoury that’s typically Sloane Kennedy’s signature. She can make dark even deeper with the depth of the character, changing completely the feeling of dark (dark theme mentioned in the book) and turn them into something truly meaningful. That’s Sloane Kennedy for you, ladies and gentlemen... Depth meeting love that conquers it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful!!!
Wow!!!! Just wow, wow, and more wow...
Sloane does it yet again with her astonishing gifted writing ability and her brilliant storytelling mind to take us on a journey that we never want to come back from. Each and every new release has me going Gaga, forgetting the world exists just so I can be transported to the make believe world where to me... it’s all real. I don’t know how she does it but when I read her stories I feel like im there, living right along with their lives feeling all the emotions, It’s surreal and it’s beautiful.
The much anticipated story of Luca and Remy . From page one right to the very end, I was hooked , I could not for the life of me put it down, I wanted more, and never wanted this story to end.
We got to learn a lot more about Luca and Remy in Unbroken, I couldn’t wait to hear how their story would play out and I was not disappointed. Just like with Aleks , Remy’s tortured life was plagued with agonising pain, my heart broke into a thousand tiny pieces for him and everything he had gone through. I wanted to put my arms around him, hug the life outa him and never let go, I absolutely adored Remy.
On the different side of the coin was Luca and I felt just the same kind of heartbreak for him. There were so many layers to him and watching those layers get peeled back through the eyes of Remy was so gratifying. He is a stunning man both inside and out and has left a lasting mark on my soul.
What comes through the most in this tragically beautiful story is hope, trust , love, and above all FAMILY!!! You don’t necessarily have to share blood to be a part of one , it was an utterly stunning moment when they both realise this very thing, it’s ok to lean and depend on people, to show your vulnerability is not a sign of weakness but to show it is amazing strength.
I loved every single word written in this astonishing story, it cut me to the core , made me bleed , my heart shattered, then was put back together by the pure unconditional love I felt not only from Luca and Remy but all the side characters I have come to love with all of Sloane’s books.
Looking forward (as I always am) with Lex’s story as with the other brothers but my god!!!!! The person who has taken over my entire being just to get one more glimpse, that glimmer of His happily ever after, is Gio!!! I have a feeling that story is going to break us all
Well done Sloane on another 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read, you are a one in a million writer and for our selfish selves... I hope you never stop.
