Four Day Fling Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 out of 5 stars 2,865 ratings

Imagine this. You're ready to leave after a one-night stand, and you're figuring out how to - shock horror - leave your number and ask him to be your fake boyfriend for your sister's wedding this weekend. When he wakes up.

Well, that happened to me. And over coffee and omelets, I found myself a date. Which was how I ended up arriving at the wedding with a guy I knew nothing about. I didn't know his last name, or how we met, or how long we'd been dating. I didn't know where he grew up, what he'd majored in in college, or how many siblings he had. I sure as hell didn't know he was Adam Winters, hotshot hockey player - and not only my father's favorite player, but my little nephew's freakin' idol. Which means I'm in trouble. Big, big trouble.

My mother is suspicious, my sister is bridezilla on crack, and my grandpa will tell anyone who'll listen about his time in Amsterdam's Red Light District.

Four days. I have to keep this up for four days, and then Adam and I can return to our regular lives, where we don't have sex whenever we're alone and my family isn't interrogating him over his intentions with me. At least, that's the plan. And we all know what happens to those.

Contains mature themes.

Sassy, sexy and thoroughly awkward...
Poppy Dunn has a complicated relationship with her family... to say the least. In an effort to placate her mother(zilla) during her sisters wedding festivities she decides to invite an almost stranger to be her date. Sounds like a solid plan... right? Adam Winters is used to women falling all over for him due to his career choice. But he finds Poppy is completely unaffected by his money, status and minor celebrity. Mostly because she has no idea who he is. Agreeing to be her date for the wedding is a no-brainer, as long as he gets to see her again, he will agree to almost anything... With Poppy's crazy family and Adam's busy life, these two only have to worry about getting through four days of pretend dating... but, when a fake relationship develops real feelings, will they ever be more than just a fling? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  This was a really great read! With an unconventional heroine and a hero who lives and breathes hockey, when these two are pushed out of their everyday element to spend some stressful and hilarious time together, will their attraction be a recipe for forever? I loved Poppy! Sassy and straightforward, she is the antagonist in her family... but also the force who keeps them from all killing each other. When the one night stand she has with Adam has her contemplating inviting him to the wedding, she does everything she can to talk herself out of it. But, a handsome buffer like him would be a great distraction... for everyone. Adam was a hilariously self assured man who lives for his career and hasn't yet found many women who want him for anything more than his success. Poppy is a refreshing change he isn't prepared to let get away so easily, and four days on the beach with her sounds like the perfect plan. Sassy, sexy, thoroughly awkward, and with a classic case of opposites attract, Four Day Fling was a hilarious and entertaining jaunt that you will not want to miss. I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

So before I get into my actual review of this standalone gem, I have to say this: J, you are the absolute Queen of Everything and I should have listened to you much sooner... you were right, as always, and I am officially admitting that I was wrong :) ok, now let me explain why I needed to start with that statement :) you see... J is my younger sister, and she read this book quite a while ago... like it-has-been-months ago ;) and ever since she did, she kept pestering me to read it, because it was sooo amazing and telling me how much I would love it... and I kept pushing it back... *looks at my past self with condemnation and pity* because this book has everything I love in stories and I adored every word in it :) so let me tell you a bit more what it's all about and then I will try to be brief with all the praises I have for it, otherwise we will be here all day... #NoJoke ;)

Ok, so do you remember what it's like when you wake up after a one night stand with a handsome stranger and you try to write a witty note to ask him to be your date / fake boyfriend for the upcoming wedding of your sister that will last four days and said guy wakes up before you have the chance to finish the note and sneak out? no? just Poppy? ;) well ok then... ;) you can see why I immediately fell in love with this story after that beginning :) to make matters more interesting, Adam agrees to her proposition... :) he will be her fake boyfriend for the long weekend... what makes the whole situation even more entertaining, Adam is a famous hockey player and Poppy has no idea about it :) she's not really interested in sports, so she didn't recognized him... I can't say the same about her family during the wedding weekend :) ok, that's basically all I can say about the actual plot of this book :) the majority of it takes place over that long weekend, and it's absolutely phenomenal :) so now let me jump into all the reasons why you need to stop whatever you are doing and read this gem immediately :)

Emma Hart is a brand new author for me, but rest assured that after absolutely falling in love with her writing style after reading this novel, all of her other books are now very, very high on my #wishlist :) this story was just so freaking hilarious... the banter between Poppy and Adam, all sorts of interactions between Poppy and her family... *sighs happily* I live for that kind of witty banter in books :) not to mention that it has everything I love in stories ;) sarcastic humor... Poppy has the absolute best T-shirts :) I want to wear all of them :) and if you follow my reviews for some time now, you may already know that the fake relationship trope is definitely one of my favourite ones.... like, ever :) add to that a strong and snarky heroine... a hockey player hero... don't ask me why, but those guys are my book-ish kryptonite... which is weird cause I don't watch the games or know any rules... and yet hockey players are my favourite athletes to read about :) so as you can see, this book was just win win win on all fronts :) I absolutely loved it and highly recommend you guys to pick it up... like, right now... learn from my mistakes and enjoy the awesomeness of this story as soon as possible :)

Four Day Fling is the kind of summer romance that I can’t possibly resist. The story-line is fun and entertaining. The characters are a riot and captivate me instantly. And the romance just puts a smile on your face. Emma Hart is quickly becoming my go-to author when I’m in the mood for a romantic comedy. When I need a smart, snarky and independent heroine and a hero that melts your heart, I know exactly who I can count on…

One of things I loved most about this story was the characters. Poppy was quirky, awkward, and totally independent. She is a total riot and you just can’t help but fall for this girl. I mean, imagine having a one night stand with an incredible guy, and then inviting said guy to a wedding. I mean, I wouldn’t have the courage to do something like that! And I just loved her snarky attitude and I want to know where I can find some of the shirts that she has. They just cracked me up! This girl may have thought she was a complete disaster, but she couldn’t be more wrong. She was the glue that holds her family together. And then Adam… He is a total breath of fresh air. He’s famous, but is drawn to Poppy because for the first time, someone is interested in Adam the guy, not Adam the professional hockey player. The connection he feels for Poppy is intense, so when she asks him to be her fake date for her sister’s wedding, he can’t resist. I have to say, I just adored Adam. He was sexy and intense, yet he made me swoon and could handle all the crazy Poppy threw his way.

I just loved Poppy and Adam together. Their connection was instant and intense. I loved how effortless things were between the two of them. The lines of pretend and real blurred so easily. I couldn’t help but root for these two. They entertained me so much. Adam was the balance that Poppy needed. He figured out how to handle her stubbornness and wasn’t afraid to go after what he wanted.

And of course, another thing to love about this story is the family. You’ve got the sister who’s close to becoming bridezilla. A mother who you’ll never be able to please. A father that just goes with the flow, but is always in your corner. And a grandfather & aunt who are sure to leave you in stitches. I just loved the family dynamic of this story and couldn’t wait to see what each family member would do next.

Four Day Fling was an entertaining read from beginning to end. The story is well written and captivating. I easily devoured this book in just a few short hours. The characters were fun, entertaining and easy to connect with. There was a good balance of humor, sexy good times and drama. Four Day Fling is the perfect summer read that will have you laughing and swooning. Emma Hart has once again delivered a fun and unforgettable romantic comedy.

Four Day Fling by Emma Hart is a hilarious, snarky standalone contemporary romance told with the signature wit and sass I have come to expect (and hope for) in Emma's heroines. The girls are never perfect but they are always funny and so very real. Well-paced and well-written (as always) this story of Poppy and Adam was just one calamitous riot of laughs after another.

Poppy needs a date for her sister's wedding before satan (aka her mom) finishes her off for good. When she summons up the sheer bravado (and stupidity) to ask her one-night stand she can't believe that 1) he agreed and that 2) she didn't nip it in the bud before the four day wedding extravaganza in the Florida Keys. Luckily he is a great partner in crime and it really isn't too hard to act like they're a couple but that is another problem all on its own...

Adam agrees to this quirky red-heads request to be her fake boyfriend at her sisters wedding but truly does not expect the sheer cluster of snark and sass that is not just Poppy but also her mom, her sister, even her geriatric grandpa. But he isn't disappointed because this is the most fun he has had in a long while and it is so easy to pretend the relationship because, just maybe, there could be more happening than either of them realize. Especially when she has no idea of his fame in the professional hockey world and clearly isn't after him for his status and wealth which by itself is wholly refreshing.

Loved this so hard - Anything from Emma Hart is a must-read for me and has been for a few years now. Enjoy!

Typical Emma Hart: funny, sarcastic, a little bit angst, some awkwardness (that's something I normally avoid, but with this author it doesn't bother me).
It's a love story with some sex, but thats pretty harmless and not the central theme.
Don't expect a sports romance. Adam is a hockey player, but that's only a sidenote in the book.
I like reading Emma's books because they always make me laugh.
