Freight Trained Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 266 ratings

Tragedy had Coleman Garrison fleeing to the rodeo at the tender age of 17. Years of dedication and an 'I don't give a f*ck' attitude turned him into a champion. Then tragedy changed the course of his life once more.

Buying a ranch on the outskirts of a small town, he planned to spend the rest of his days training horses, removed from society and the temptation of letting anyone close.

And then he saw HER.

Tired of substitute teaching and unable to afford to move from her parents home, Abigail O'Neal jumped at the chance to start a new life away from the big city in the small town of Jasper Falls.

Shy and socially awkward, she wanted the chance to be a different version of herself. But breaking out of her shell turned out to be harder than she thought.

Until she met HIM.

Who knew Abby's resemblance to a dead woman would make her the target of someone's sinister deeds.

Can a hardened cowboy and a shy little mouse beat the odds, preventing tragedy from striking again?

***This is a full-length, standalone, steamy contemporary romance with a HEA. Due to sex and language, it is recommended for persons over 18.***

Sarah Curtis is a writer of all things romance. She loves nothing more than a sexy alpha male who falls hard for their heroine, almost always in spite of themselves!

A life-long resident of Southern California, Sarah shares her writing den with her childhood sweetheart and very own alpha male. When she’s not writing or dreaming up plotlines you can find her wrangling her plethora of very spoiled felines—she currently has five, yes you read that correctly, furry companions. Sarah is a reader before anything else, and her TBR mountain is higher than Everest. She’s also addicted to watching cooking competitions, especially involving baking! Of her own admission, she rarely cooks, but she’s up for the occasional birthday cake for her children as long as it involves the opening of a box.

New author for me, came as a Amazon recommended. Since I have been on a cowboy kick, and the story sounded good and the price was right I took a chance and was not disappointed. A nice easy read, fast paced and steamy. Abby is a sweet, shy, and pretty teacher who inherited her grandmother's home. Looking for a change and a fulltime teaching position she moves to the small town. Cole is the local bad boy. A hot cowboy, former rodeo champion turned horse trainer. Cole is in list at first site when he sees Abby at the local diner. When he helps her off her roof, he wants to make her his. When she brings him thank you cookies, he has a surge of conscious, and pushes her away. She deserves better than a bitter, broken, cowboy. When he sees her with another man, he knows he can't let her go. The road is rough. A stalker, and self doubts, threaten their happiness. The epilogue ended the story nicely. Love a rough around the edges man who is in touch with his Neanderthal side, but can admit when he is wrong, and knows how to apologize. Will be checking out more books be this author.

Freight Trained was one of those books that hit all my personal marks when looking for a story that will become a re-read. Alpha hero who has a painful past, virgin heroine, quirky friends, just enough danger to keep it interesting. I like all kinds of heroines and after having just finished reading Enchanting, also by Sarah Curtis, I found Abby’s shyness the perfect personality for what I was looking for. She might feel socially awkward but she didn’t hesitate to let her feelings be known when she was riled. Cole loved that about her and I, well, I just loved Cole. I live on a ranch but unfortunately we do not have cowboys like Cole. That’s just not fair!

While other reviewers knew right away who the “bad” guy was, I bounced between two potentials and refused to allow myself to settle on one or the other. No, I wasn’t surprised by the revelation but I was satisfied by it. I would have liked to have been given more details regarding Abby’s and Cole’s struggle during that dark time and I felt Cole’s character was just a little too calm for an alpha hero worried about his woman. However, in my opinion, that lack of detail did not actually detract from the story.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the explanation of the title. Loved that! This was the perfect Sunday afternoon read. Not too heavy, bogged down or wordy. Going to check out this author’s backlist immediately.

This is unfortunate for me as I've read and loved this author's books so this review breaks my heart and I still think I'm being biased because I know this lady's talent. Unfortunately Cole was too much of a serious jerk for me. He used past tragedies as his excuse too many times and basically abandoned the spineless h at a critical time. While this author is very talented and I Will continue to read her books this one was a definite miss for me! I'm being generous with 3*,however if you're new to this author's books even if you didn't fancy this one as i did then still try her other titles. Generally she's worth a read!

He believes that he is not good enough for her so tries to push her away a couple of times before he decides to give in and claim her as his woman. This book is insta love at its best. I really liked this story it had a little bit of everything in it, suspense, intrigue, sexy cowboy and a shy woman dying to get out!
So ok I really liked Abby she was smart funny and held her own when push came to shove. She wanted a fresh start where she could just be herself. Her grandma had left her a house in a great small town. Then a chance meeting at a dinner with someone you'd least expect the town bad boy. Cole had his demons to slay and never wanted to find the one he was meant to fall for. Then the sexual chemistry between Cole and Abby was very hot! Abby made me laugh with some of her reactions to Cole and what he wanted!! Lol But then he was very sweet with Abby.

The suspense of the story was a murder mystery, I didn't think it was who it turned out to be, totally thought it was someone else. But it made sense from the first missing girl. What threw me off was his abandonment when things got tough and Abby needed him the most. Should have made home work more for it! Got off way too easy..
But overall I really enjoyed this story!!

Sarah Curtis has become one of my favorite romance authors and a sure one-click. Curtis grasps your attention from the very first page and keeps you reading until the very last word. And, Freight Trained is a mighty example of, what I like to call,"Curtis Talent."

This story has it all; mystery, suspense, naughty dialogue, scorching scenes, and heartfelt romance. This is a must-read, along with her Alluring Series. Best of all, Coleman Garrison is sure giving Mason Conner, from Pursuing (Alluring Series, Book 3), a run for his money as my favorite Curtis male lead.

Abby and Cole, two very interesting individuals, from completing opposite ends of society. Abby being from the city and Cole from the could try. Both were freight trained but they make it work. Definitely a very good and solid read. Throw in their friends, the small town atmosphere and voilà a great book. A very good plot, believable characters, and romantic suspense, this novel is a winner!
