Fresh Start: A Non-Shifter Mpreg Romance (Orchard Ridge Omegas Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 136 ratings

Elias Baker has nowhere to turn. On the run from his abusive ex, the twenty year old omega is hungry, homeless, penniless… and pregnant. But hitching rides from strangers and sleeping outdoors every night is a vast improvement over spending one more minute with the monster ex who stole away his dignity and self-worth. When a handsome small town sheriff catches Elias trespassing, the older alpha offers him help instead of handcuffs, and a chance to get back on his feet.

Sheriff Jaxon Hughes is well-loved by the residents of Orchard Ridge. The tall, sandy haired alpha is kind, diplomatic, and forgiving with the community he serves. But his dry sense of humor and folksy charm mask a painful past and a deep loneliness. After wasting half his life trapped in a sham marriage, newly divorced Jaxon isn’t sure where to go from here, or even what he wants out of life. Plus, he’s bored to death policing this dully peaceful town, where nothing exciting ever seems to happen.

When Jaxon casts his eyes on the frightened, vulnerable Elias, Jaxon’s big heart compels him to help the young omega in whatever way he can. At first glance, Jaxon and Elias seem to have little in common, but their effortless chemistry and easy-going rapport soon leads to a deep, affectionate bond. Both are wounded, and both find their salvation in each other— but as their friendship grows, so does their undeniable, powerful attraction.

Being with Elias gives Jaxon clarity, stability, and purpose for the first time in his life. Elias feels he may have found the alpha of his dreams— the one man who truly loves and accepts him for who he is. But Elias’s baby bump is growing bigger, and soon he’ll no longer be able to hide the truth. He’s terrified to break the news to Jaxon. After all, what alpha wants to raise another man’s baby?

Fully preoccupied with their new romance, neither Jaxon nor Elias realize that a predator lurks in the shadows, ready and waiting for the perfect moment to strike, putting not only their relationship at dire risk— but also their lives.

Fresh Start is a 78k word May/December, non-shifter, small town mpreg romance and the third standalone installment of the Orchard Ridge Omegas series. It contains high heat, angst, a little danger & suspense, lots of humor & sarcasm, and a heart-warming HEA, along with cameos by all your favorite characters from the previous two books!

Hi! I’m Braylon. I like to write contemporary, non-shifter mpreg romance involving sweet, noble, kind-hearted alphas and sassy-yet-vulnerable omegas. I like to inject my books with humor, witty banter, heart-warming scenes, angst, and even a little bit of danger and suspense now and then!

My goal with each book is to make you tear up at the end. If I can do that, I've succeeded!

When I'm not writing, I like to cook, travel, read as many books as I can get my hands on, swim in the ocean, and binge Netflix!

How horrible to have to escape from an abusive ex and to be put at risk because you do not have the means to take care of yourself. Yet there is grit and dignity in Elias choosing to set off on his own in search of better life that would not be where he left. When he lands in Orchard Ridge and comes in contact with Jaxon there is a chance for him to find a fresh start. This is a slow burn and there are still issues to deal with but in the end this is a wonderful May/December romance.

Jaxon’s life is boring and lonely but a new stranger in town is about to shake things up.

Elias was adorable but life hasn’t been fair to him. A new start is exactly what he needs and the sheriff is kind enough to help him on his way. Elias is drawn to to Jax but will he have the courage to make the first move?

Jax and Elias were so cute together. Jax’s hot and cold behaviour was understandable but I was glad when he finally got over his issues to go after what he wanted.

Fantastic story and a great addition to the series.

Why would an Omega who was only 20 years old take to the road? A young man with secrets. Encountering a small town Sheriff who was too generous, but still a handsome and charming Alpha made Elias the hitchhiking Omega still leery. Then a proposition too good to be true. The Sheriff shocked himself by throwing Elias a much-needed lifeline. A lifeline the Omega needed much more than Sheriff Jackson Hughes realized.

Both of them felt the stirrings of a mutual attraction. Each of them fighting Nature's pull. A vicious Ex caused scary nightmares & the fear of being found made Elias jumpy and eager to keep moving. But the pull Elias felt made him want to stay around the Sheriff just for a little while longer. Attraction overruled his fear causing he and the Sheriff to begin a dance - a primitive dance that their Alpha and Omega genes new very well, but they floundered wasting valuable time instead of just letting Nature take her course as she did when she brought the two of them together.

I really enjoyed this third book in the Orchard Ridge series. The author has done a great job on series books and with each couple. The circumstances of how they met and each of their stories is unique as well as very entertaining. This one, Fresh Start was poignant, amusing, suspenseful, and finally ending with a very satisfying conclusion. Because sometimes temporarily housing a stray can lead to a permanent arrangement. A forever home.

Series book Number 4 is due to be released soon I am eager to read it.

This book was my introduction to Orchard Ridge, although this is the third book in the series. I really enjoyed the story, and I didn't feel lost by not having read the first two books. The characters in this book were strong and fully developed. I loved Elias and his strength in getting away from his abusive ex and trying to make a new life for himself and his baby, and I can't say enough about Jaxon. So strong, and yet gentle, caring and sweet. The book has some dark themes, danger and suspense, but also sweet love and, eventually, a well-deserved HEA. Very well-written and engaging.

The town of Orchard Ridge has some really great characters in it! This story is a bit darker than the others, but the character Eli wouldn't be who he is and he wouldn't be the omega that Jaxon needs if he hadn't gone through the terrible things he did.
Eli is on the run after an abusive relationship with his ex and just happens to land in Orchard Ridge and into the life of Sheriff Jaxon. Jaxon hasn't been in a relationship in years and when he meets Eli there is an instant attraction to the young man that he fights against. The story builds their relationship slowly where they can be friends and not just have romantic feelings for each other which is nice to read. Even with a bit of darker material there is still a HEA and a sweet story as well.

This was an fun book, for sure. Jax and Elias were great. Their out of the ordinary meeting and relationship was a definite plus. Reading their story was full of both excitement and heartache. Elias’ ex was terrifying but the end game was excellent. One of my favorite parts, though, was the mention of “Love Your Forever” the children’s book. A personal favorite and the mention was heart warming as it applied to their bundle of joy.
