Frozen Fear: Murder In Season - Book 1 (Murder In Season Cozy Mystery) Kindle Edition
After being shot in the line of duty, the detective constable is recovering in cottage country, along with her friend’s dog, Kojak. But it’s more than a vacation. Much more.
The death of a look-alike friend brings danger right to the front door of Claire’s quaint log cabin. And, the picturesque village of Falcon Lake serves up murder, kidnapping, a mysterious new neighbor, and a blizzard of clues and suspects.
Claire has to face facts. She has no badge, no gun, and no backup. But she’s right in the path of a killer. All she knows how to do is act like a cop and investigate.
Her neighbor is newcomer Miles Gallagher. He’s distant and as chilly as the winter weather. But helping Claire stay alive and stop a killer may thaw his heart.
Meanwhile things aren’t adding up for Claire at work. The tragedy of her boss’s ambush, where she was injured, is being laid at her doorstep. How can she clear her name and get back to work?

About the author
I love writing every day and the result so far is four mystery series, and counting. I’ve been retired from teaching for a couple of years, and am totally immersed in my new career as a mystery writer. I hope you enjoy the results!
New in Spring 2023! The Elk Ridge Murder Mysteries follow Inspector Hilary Casgrain in a sensational new crime fiction series! It's a spinoff from my most popular books, the Port Alma Murder Mysteries.
The longer Poodle Versus… series is a reader favorite. Small-town action, zany characters, and a Nasty Small Poodle will capture your heart in these cozy mysteries.
The Murder In Season trilogy features injured detective constable Claire Beckett.
The Free Prequels to all my series are available on my website, AnneShillolo.com.

I volunteered a honest review in exchange for an ARC copy of this book.

Onto the second weakness, our protagonist is a detecive constable, for god's sake. Would you really believe it that she would look at a wrecked home and jump to conclusions and get carried away, instead of looking at evidence? She didn't think of the tire marks left in the snow (the neighbour she accused of the wreckage would have simply walked up, not needing to drive to the very next house). Our trained police woman didn't think of collecting finger impressions with whatever hack she could use. Instead, she conducted herself as any regular civilian would. And that's what I found to be unbelievable.
All this happened till chapter 7, and in chapter 8, she went on spewing anger towards the attractive but cold neighbour she had hastily accused. And that's when I realised that this book was going to go on and on based on these two lame points - a farfetched involvement in a murder and a hasty misunderstanding.
So, I am not going to read any more of this book, this series or this author.
