About the author

The term genre-hopper could have been coined to describe me and my books, modern-day thrillers sitting side by side with sword and sorcery, wicked dragons, and short stories and verse.
In addition, I’m proud to be the co-author of the Dai and Julia Mysteries with my good friend E.M. Swift-Hook.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2020I loved the book! It starts with an irascible professor type who belittles all around him but quickly descends into the madness of fae, dragons, dwarves, and all manner of otherworldly beings and a quest with an unlikely hero. The author writes well and with lots of humor, which I love. I’d definitely suggest a better cover, though, but it’s merely masking the gem inside. For now.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2020What I liked best about Gribble’s Geek is that it possesses the same bright spirit and optimism that’s present in the resolution of many redemption stories (though it would be fair to say that our mean-spirited hero isn’t ‘exactly’ redeemed). And that’s the fun of the story too, as Gribble must undergo a hero’s journey that has him question his spiteful nature as he prepares to make a noble sacrifice.
While the story is well-told and enjoyable, I do wish there had been more to it. There’s such a plethora of characters involved that at times I couldn’t remember who they were and what they were up to. And I’m not sure I ever got what was a Geek was or their role, despite their importance in the story. However, it’s a fast and short read that left me wanting a more fleshed-out journey and more of Gribble’s acerbic remarks and notoriously bad behavior. Hopefully, we’ll see more of him again where he’s not so heroic.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2020Perfection, unexpected, entertaining, engaging, triumphant, cleverly wrought, as all things Jane Jago have proven themselves to be. Highly recommended for the intelligent and flexible-minded reader.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2020This is a fairy tale for adults that made me smile at how it ends. We start with a self-centered, egotistical jerk with very few redeeming qualities (OK, none really). What happens to him when he's forced to play by the rules and become someone he never imagined is a joy to read. This is a beautifully written condensed book that will be enjoyed by readers of heroic fantasy like The Hobbit or Harry Potter. It made my day.
