From the author of THE CRUISE ...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A genuinely warm feel-good story⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I LOVED this book⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Funny, sad, a perfect page-turner ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Couldn't put it down!

Jo's romance with the gypsy began with his first kiss, she never forgot it...

When Jo Edmond's husband runs off with their nanny and disappears into a Spanish sunset, Jo resolves to make a new life with her baby son. She impulsively purchases Kirkton House a run-down guest house and with the help of a colourful cast of characters, establishes a thriving country house hotel. Jo opens the hotel during Fair Week, a famous 300-year-old gypsy tradition, hated by the locals and loved by every tinker and traveller in the country. Romance is the last thing on her mind until the enigmatic John Doherty walks into her life...

Assisted by Hattie, a local woman who becomes a friend, Jo’s business succeeds and a new Jo emerges, attracting the attention of every man who comes within her radar. In Fair Week, Jo’s errant husband turns up and begins a campaign to win her back but Black Monday is looming, the stock market crashes, and tourism dries up. With difficult days ahead Jo has to reinvent her business to survive.

Caroline’s hilarious novels include The French Cookery School, The Spa Break, and The Best Boomerville Hotel, which is depicted as ‘Britain’s answer to the Best Marigold Hotel’.

This book is fabulous! The story is well thought out and enthralling, and you get a real sense of connection to the characters.

I go through a few books a week, which gets to be an expensive habit, so I have taken to searching Amazon for free and inexpensive ones. The books that I usually find are from first time authors that have yet to master the skills of character development, editing, and proofreading. Every once in a while, however, I find a gem. Coffee, Tea, The Gypsy & Me is definitely one of those gems. Not only did I feel a real connection to Jo and Hattie, I also found characters like Alf, Greg, and Gerald to be well developed while keeping with the flow of the story line. The book actually made me cry at one point. One of the reviews above complains that the character of John was underdeveloped, however I feel that this added to his mystery and allure. As a gypsy, John would have keep a bit of his true self hidden from anyone outside of his community. I feel that delving into his thoughts would actually have taken away from his character. The editing in this book is excellent as well! While I love the fact that first time authors have become able to self publish on Amazon, I hate that many of these authors don't seem to feel the need to have someone else look over the book before they put it online for the world to read. This is not a problem with this book.

I know that every good book has to come to an end, but I honestly didn't want this one to. I can't wait for her next book to come out!

A bit slow to start but overall a good read. Didn't really need the sex scenes , story is good enough without. Hattie moved on rather quickly after Bert, but I guess that's because book had to end. Was given free book . My review is freely and honestly given

This is a wonderful story of two divorced women who come together and become great friends through happiness and heartaches.

Jo and Hattie are both strong characters who have learned to survive on their on. They work together in tune with each other's thoughts and feelings which is a delight to see. The two must fight their battles and live to meet another day which is a struggle at times.

I read the sequel, Coffee Tea The Caribbean & Me, before this one and I'm sorry that I did. While I loved the sequel and it was good on its own, it would have been better to have the background to Jo's and Hattie's relationships.

I heartily recommend both books to anyone wanting a feel good book with real feelings and women who have backbones.

A really great read. I haven't read such a good book for awhile. The characters are well described and I like the way the story evolved. All the trials and tribulations of a single mum buying and running a Country House Hotel, with very colourful characters, who make you laugh, make you mad and make you sad.. Poor Jo has men throwing themselves at her left right and centre, but she only has eyes for one of them.
I'm always looking at finding new Authors and Caroline James is now my new favourite. If you read this story, I'm sure she will be yours too. This story is similar to the type of books Jilly Cooper writes.

Enjoyed the storyline. Even with the book written in a different style, and quite a few of errors in typing, I found myself pulled in. Would definitely read other stories by this author.

Jo Edmond starts a new life with her infant son after her husband runs off with the nanny. Jo purchases Kirkton House and refurbishes it to open as a hotel. Jo’s hotel business struggles in the beginning then it takes off and becomes successful with the help of her friend Hattie. John Doherty walks into Jo's life and they fall in love. When Jo’s ex-husband finds out about her successful hotel he tries to win her back and she snubs him. I really enjoyed this wonderful contemporary romance fiction novel.

This wasn't the book I thought it was. I enjoyed some of the heroines character such as the ability to pick herself up from being left by her husband shortly after their baby was born with the 16 year old nanny. However her constant whining in the face of so much help was off putting. As was her constant use of the F word after all she has a toddler most mothers know what you say comes back to you from the mouth of your little darling. And her hiring Hattie, who seemed very low brow, as a integral part of the staff at her inn was not very understanding. Hattie is a great gal but tends to wear clothes to low in front for her ample cleavage & can be a bit baudy.

It is a fine read if you enjoy non researched books, lots of fiction. I mean every man in the village was suddenly panting after the heroine all because she bought a girdle, a good bra, had her hair cut & frosted with highlights? Got to love fiction.

Sadly the author almost could have written the book realistically when Hattie's amore is killed in an accident or when the very pedigreed hunting dog impregnates the heroines mutt. Pedigree owners are not happy to have their expensive dog bred without stud fees breeding is big business. So there she could have covered how the Hotel owner dealt with this problem in an adult way. Sadly these two incidence were just glossed over. As was the haunting in the conservatoire which was to easily explained for me.

Looking for a chick lit book this is it.
