This is it, my chance, my big break, my first tour. I knew when I was signed to White Picket Fence Records that my life was going to change. I wanted it. I craved it. Finally getting the chance to make it into a career is almost everything I’ve ever wanted.

Music and Leighla. Those are the two things that kept me going through the hard times. Leighla has been the light in my darkness since the moment she was born, even as the relationship with her mother crumbled around me. She made her choices; her daughter and I weren’t it.

I can’t leave my daughter behind as I go on tour, I’d never survive that long without her sweetness and smiles. Melody is a godsend and is there for Leighla when I can’t be. She’s on tour to do a job, but when I look at Melody, all I want is to give her pleasure. It’s a horrible idea and could cost me everything. I’ll risk it. She’s mine and by the end of the tour I’m going to make sure she knows it.

MELODY

I need this job. I need my internship to turn into a career that I’m proud of. I have one shot to make myself indispensable to the label. I will make sure Leighla is given the care she needs so that Carter can go out on stage knowing that she’s safe and happy. Leighla loves her Daddy, and I can understand why Carter doesn’t want to be away from his adorable little girl.

There’s one big, huge, gigantic, momentous problem with my job. Carter is the sexiest man I’ve ever met and when he melts for his daughter, I find myself doing the same…but for him. I try to ignore it, but every look he gives me makes it harder to stay professional. Every touch lights me up and makes me want to sing.

I can’t let these feelings get in the way of my duties. Falling in love with the father-daughter duo isn’t part of my job description. I could lose everything I’ve worked for, but maybe I could gain so much more than a paycheck.

    I discovered Ember Davis this year and I am so glad I did. Every story of hers I have read so far is just so lovely. I get completely submerged into her world and its heavenly. I adore the fact that her stories are longer but they never feel drawn out. You see her characters grow and evolve as people and as a couple. Girl Dad's a Rising Star was different, a short novella and she rocked that too. Some authors think that a novella needs to be quick, rapid paced and taking place in only a few days. That is great, it works most of the time. Ms Davis does it differently, skipping over time and utilizing that to move the relationship forward. We still get to know Melody and Carter, as well as his daughter Leighla and feel their connection. I thought it was very well done, the story unfolded at a more natural pace. So very good, I hope you check it out!

    Carter was about to give up his musical dreams when his big break came but the only way he would do the tour is if his little girl was coming along with him. Not wanting to miss any moments and knowing he would miss her if he had to leave her behind. Then the person he got to watch her while he was performing had a family emergency . When he got a call they found a replacement he hoped that Leighla and the person would mesh because his last option would be to leave her behind with his mom or other bands family members. The moment Melody walked onto the tour bus he knew she was his and meant to complete his little family. Leighla took to her instantly as well. Now he had the tour to convince her she loved him. Melody wanted this job so bad she had been interning and thought she was about to not get hired full time so as a hail mary attempt to get hired she offered to do the child care for Carter. Now she is trying not to fall in love with them but both Carter and Leighla aren't making that possible.

    This is a sweetness overload instalove read with some steam. Carter was so sweet and swoon worthy . Plus who can resist a dad who loves his daughter. Melody didn't have the easiest childhood so she built up some walls up but she is sweet and determined. The characters had chemistry from the start plus and were relatable. I loved seeing how the relationship evolved . So if you have an hour to kill and love sweet, romantic, yet steamy instalove read with an adorable kid an HEA and an epilogue you will enjoy this book. Ember Davis is an author to check out for sure for if you haven't already.
