Grant My Wish: An MM Holiday Romance (Home for the Holidays Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 122 ratings

Gearing up for his first holiday season as the new owner of his family’s restaurant, Reid has his work cut out for him. His small resort town is a destination location, but the reappearance of the high school bully who returns every year is not the way Reid wants to start the holidays. Especially given that Grant was the first boy he’d ever loved, and the one boy who’d broken his heart.

Returning home for the holidays every year is never fun. The memories of who Grant used to be lurk around every corner. With little to no relationship with his family, Grant plans to spend his holidays eating pie and skiing. But running into the one man Grant has never apologized to changes the course of his visit. And his life.

Can Reid and Grant mend fences and move past the hurtful high school bet that tore them apart? Can they put the past behind them to see the future that lies ahead?

Grant My Wish is a 44K word standalone novella that features bully redemption, small town vibes, hurt/comfort, holiday wishes come true, and a HEA.

Morgan Mason is a gay romance author and reader, who got her start writing YA. Her penchant for sweet stories with a good dose of spicy heat thrown in, always end with a happily ever after. Some of her characters find love easily, some take the scenic route, but all in all, everyone gets there in the end.

When she’s not reading, writing, or working, Morgan is playing with her three dogs, changing out her “mom hats” for her extremely busy kids, and trying to rein in a husband who continually comes up with new hobbies for them to explore. She’d love to travel the world one day but that would mean pulling her nose out of a book to appreciate the scenery around her and she’s not sure how she would feel about that.

From the start you really want to dislike Grant, but as the story progresses you can't help but root for his redemption. All it took was an honest apology for a heinous high school bet and a confession of love to help Grant thaw his cold heart. Yeah it seems a little fast but that's the magic of Christmas. Reid has never really fallen out of love with Grant despite how horrible he was treated. He gives Grant a chance to explain everything and prove that he's not the same person he was in high school. Reid is patient, kind, sweet, and helps Grant become the person he should have always been. I loved the story about the small town community. I liked how awkward their relationship is at the beginning then turned sweet and hot. I also like when an author fits the title of the book into the story somewhere. See if you can find it, it was really sweet. A wonderful bully redemption Christmas story.

While there are some past sad memories in the sweet storyline, it is one of the most positive second chance themed books I’ve read. No drama, lots of reconciliation and reconnecting and a great addition to anyone’s holiday themed shelf.

I really liked this book. Grant and Reid have a history. In high school, Grant devastated Reid with his cruel, selfish actions. Grant moved away, but he always comes home for Christmas. Unfortunately, he is still a jerk to Reid and anyone in his path. But, this Christmas, Grant decides he should at least apologize to Reid and try to make amends. While it doesn’t go great, something Reid says shocks Grant into re-evaluating. This is when Grant begins “operation make Reid love me again”. Even though Grant has a lot to make up for, Reid gives him a chance. Everything happens fast, but I loved seeing Grant be vulnerable and finally treat Reid the way he should. Throughout, Reid is an absolute sweetheart. He still loves Grant and gives him a second chance, but he doesn’t give him a free pass either. It was nice to see Grant forge a new relationship with his parents and his brother. Even though this was a quick read, I found myself invested in Grant and Reid and their HEA. The ending was perfect and left me with a smile. I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. Felt too predictable and a lot of exposition to get to a lackluster finale. I wouldn’t say I’m a MM holiday romance connoisseur but I’ve read my fair share and this was mid range for me. I think people would like this as an introduction but it wasn’t my favorite in the genre.

    Reid:

The love of Reid’s life and absolutely the most irritating, aggravating, entitled, and arrogant person alive just walked back into Reid’s restaurant and heart. NO! Reid absolutely WILL NOT fall for the man that in high school took his heart and his virginity ON A BET and then waltzed right out of town. Just NO! But…he’s so handsome and he seems genuinely sorry and, and - NO!

    Grant:

I will win his love back no matter what it takes. I’ve changed. I’ve grown up. I’m not that person anymore. I’M NOT! I’m successful and rich and yes, I’ve grown a heart. A heart I want desperately to give back to Reid Bailey. The only person who has ever loved me for me.

Oh so swoony and romantic - and SO HOT - this is a fantastic holiday read!!

Grant My Wish is part of the multi author series, Home for the Holidays. A fantastic second chance, redemption story. I loved Reid and Grant!! Grant once upon a time was a bully to Reid. Reid is an amazing character, unfailingly kind and forgiving. Reid is cold and hasn’t had much love or affection in his life. When we learn his background and how he wants to be a better person, I couldn’t help but love him! I adored both Reid and Grant and their journey to love and being together. Overall, fantastic read!! Well written with facing that hooked me and kept me engaged!

The definition of a holiday novella - light, sweet, steamy, and fluffy!

Grant and Reid have know each other since high school, and there aren’t good memories between them. Grant was a narcissistic bully who treated Reid so poorly.

Now the two are adults, Reid running a restaurant in town and Grant returning home for a holiday visit. The two continually bump into one another and run one another until Grant decides he wants Reid in his life.

Now I won’t say this is a deep book, nor was the chemistry or emotional connection coming off the page. Honestly, those both were a bit shallow for me, but I do tend to look for strong emotional love from MCs. I found Grant’s initial reasons for wanting to get Reid to fall in love with him to still be superficial and self-centered. But saying all of that, the author did write Reid also being skeptical of Grant’s interest so I appreciated that he and I were on the same page about that! At the end of the day, these two were cute and funny together and I enjoyed the book. It wasn’t my favorite holiday book, but it made for an interesting and fun read about an adorable little town and two MCs that did grow to love another. Fits the genre nicely and a good fit for a holiday season read! 3.5/5 stars

I received an ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.

I really liked Reid as a character but I really struggled with Grant and he didn’t really redeem himself in my eyes. I didn’t feel like he really earned the forgiveness for what he did in the past and that it was too easily forgotten. Perhaps I’m just not as forgiving as most readers!
