Gage's Languor: Part 1 (The Brotherhood Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 87 ratings

Gage used to think his "baby face" looks were a curse, until he realised they allowed him to get away with a lot of things he shouldn't.

He wasn't a great fighter like Kurt, nor clever like Nick, and definitely not compelling like Levi. In fact, he wasn't anything spectacular at all, and their “Little Witch” seemed to agree.

Who the hell did she think she was? Walking in on his case, turning his world upside down and taking over everything. The recruits, their training, the apartment. She seemed to think she was some sort of queen, but Gage knew better. She was just a loose girl who slept her way into the position. He should know, because he wasn't shy when it came to sex either, only Gage didn’t use his prowess in the bedroom to get him things he didn’t deserve. He trained hard, worked harder and earned his spot on the elite team.

Grace was going to get them all killed, and she was completely on the wrong track for solving this case. He had to get rid of her, because Gage had his own plans, and he wasn't going to let
anyone screw them up.

Hi, I'm Jade Thorn,

I'm a stay at home mother of 3 gorgeous wee monsters. I live in Australia with them, their Daddy, our pup, Smudge, and our pet fish.

I've been writing forever it seems. I had a passion for it as young as 9, but it never occured to me that others would like my little stories. I have oodles and oodles of half written pieces and slowly but surely I'm sharing them with you.

I'm finally doing what I've always dreamed of, and it's even better than I imagined. I do hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them.

Jade

xoxo

Throw Gage off a cliff... I don't see redeemable qualities. I have yet to dislike a guy like him in this series. Even Nick with his Doucheness didn't rub me this badly. Nope nope nope nope... He should be Grace's next batch. *le sigh*

Arrgghhh those females.... they know more of the bigger picture, I know it. And oy! is the little hint they gave a real one or a fake one?

I need part 2 like last year because... that ending just left me wanting to jump into the book to kick some ass. *throws small tantrum* "I don't want to wait for the rest of the story" 😫😫

It feels weird not seeing much of Levi & Kurt in the story. But those little clips of what's going on in LA makes it so much more nerve racking for the next books. We do have Sloth, Greed, Lust, & Gluttony. (well half of sloth, me thinks, since we keep being told sam will be lust by the guys, and by the glimpse of LA, I'm thinking they're Greed.)

Nick, nick, Nick, nick, Nick...Keep on with that charm. I am enjoying this uninfluenced Nick.

Overall, I don't know if its because this is technically only half of the story... but compared to the previous books it was meh... (that doesn't mean it was bad, because it wasn't) It still had me trying to fit puzzle pieces into places and yelling frustrated when it didn't look like the puzzle matched. Holding my breath to see if any redeeming qualities are hiding under rocks for the remaining men of the brotherhood.

ps... trying to figure out Grace's final harem is throwing a girl for a loop! That bear!

pps.... love te changes that Grace's new pov is giving the brotherhood. They've been too stuck in their ways.

    🙈🙈🙊🙊💀🤔🙃🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤪

I love these characters, and hate that I have to wait until 2022 for the next book!
Grace, and the guys are terrific. I can't wait to find out who she's bonds with next.
It'll be interesting to see in Gage can redeem himself. Or if Grace gives Nick a chance. Can't wait for book 6!

It is well written and most of the characters are very well developed. As a previous reviewer said, the rules for magic and fight scenes are well done. My problem is I COULD NOT stand Gage. Based on the blurb, I thought he would be totally different character. He acted like a whiny, spoiled child throughout the book. I can handle anger and resentment in a character but that is not how he came across to me.

This is part 1 and I really want to strangle Gage. I really love the dynamic between Nick, Adel and Grace. Grace is showing us what a true elite she is. I hope with all hope that she's able to figure out Gabe's issues and deals before they hurt her. Can't wait for part 2.

Honestly the steam the growth everyone goes through is amazing.... My only issue really is the repetitive nature of the books. I've only read five of them but each book honestly was the same as the ones before it with basic detail changes but the core of it the same. The behaviors the same. And the people the same just with small differences. I know that the theme is based prolly of the theory but my lord! I feel like I can guess how the rest of the books would go just need to know their sins and boom the books are known. 😪 I will say that the execution of this bully rh pans out as good, but would I spend money on it or read it again 😬 no.

Another amazing addition to this series! I always try to prepare myself for the worst with these Brotherhood men, but they just keep getting worse with their attitudes as each new member is introduced. But I will say, I always look forward to Grace and her reactions to how they treat her. I love seeing her put them in their place whenever they underestimate her or don't pull their own weight. Gage was no different than how the other men were when they first met her, maybe even worse than the others. Probably why the man needs two books for his portion of the story. I'm really looking forward to seeing it all pan out in the second Gage book.

The other guys, though, have been amazing to read about. You can see such a difference in Kurt, Levi, and Nick as they get more familiar with Grace and bond with her, see how she affects them and makes them work towards being a better person. Their walls are slowly breaking down and it's nice to see more sensitive sides to them. Nick really surprised me in this one. He made a complete 180 compared to the previous book and how he viewed his life.

I was excited to see that we got even more pieces to the Grace puzzle with this book. Huge things are revealed although I'm sure many readers are questioning how some of them didn't put two and two together--at least to get some of the details. Like those "dreams" they each had during Christmas. Never spoke to each other about them, but they could have helped them find things out much earlier. It's a journey though. They'll find everything out in their own time. It's just another thing to look forward to with this series, even if we guess things before they happen, we're still eager for the characters to get to the same point. Can't wait for the release of the next book to see what happens next and so Gage can get the wake up call that he desperately needs.

The plot and writing is as good as expected, but man Gage is really unlikable. I'm glad he gets a part 2, because he's gonna need a whole ass book to redeem himself. I think my fave thing about this series is how well thought out the magic system is. Its well described and the rules are always followed, something I expect from fantasy novels but not necessarily reverse harem romances. The fight scenes are also really detailed and not rushed, it makes them feel way more realistic. I'm so happy Nicky is redeeming himself and I'm super excited for him and Abel to join the harem! I hope Part 2 is coming soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gage

It's amazing how much I hate these men before they decide they were completely wrong and earn Grace's forgiveness. Gage is a total .... ugh. I just hate him, self centered, immature, stand rolls anyone to get what he wants, petulant, sulky, clueless, lazy, man whore. Each time we meet a new elite he is worser than the last one. Nick finally sees the light and apologises, Abel is making in roads. Gage is so immature -- he will need to feel some real pain before I think he has been published enough to reform. Grace is too quick to forgive these witches! Eager to meet the next misogynist elite -- and feel all my anger at his numerous sinful attributes. I hope they gave him at least one redeeming quality... hard to root for their success when I hate them so thoroughly. Lol.

The next installment...Grace and the guys get split up to help with the fight, Elliot believing they are a distraction to each other.
This book shows a whole new side to Nick, which was great after his previous attitude.
We also meet Gage, hmmmm, he makes Nick's behaviour look like nothing, but oh how I loved how Grace deals with him! Far more entertaining than she was with Nick.
More was revealed about Grace's powers, and there will be even more to come.
Then the ending, I can see more trouble heading towards the elites and it won't be an easy fight.
