Genuinely Extraordinary: The Triumphs of the Everette Brothers #1 Kindle Edition
I’ve known I was different from other boys since I was really young. Strange looks and even cruel words are thrown my way nearly every day, and I deal with it, or at least I try to. I’ve done my best to keep my younger brother out of it so he won’t be hurt by my choices; I’ve kept him at a distance since we started high school, but I really miss him. And now that a cute boy—okay, not just a cute boy, the cutest boy—is being nice to me, I think I might need my brother back.
Reilly~
My big brother is the coolest guy I know. He doesn’t care what anyone says, doing his own thing with his own flair. Not only is he courageous, but he’s an amazing artist, especially with the comic book he’s been creating for years. The only thing I hate is that he doesn’t talk to our dad, and no one will tell me why. I thought everything was great for both of us, but lately, I’m noticing that something isn’t quite right. When he starts hanging out with Milo, I’m really happy for him until Milo accuses me of not protecting my brother. It’s time to find out what I’m missing.
The Triumphs of the Everette Brothers follows Lando, Reilly, and all their friends on their journey through high school, first loves, and the ups and downs of growing up.

About the authors
Steph Marie is a proud mom of two teenage daughters and her pup. She’s always had a love for words and what they can do, their ability to create and transform life. She’s shared her words and stories with people in her immediate life, but never considered writing and publishing Young Adult until her oldest daughter said she wished all teens had the ability to sit around her kitchen table and talk. That night a series was born, and characters haven’t stopped popping up in her head wanting their story told yet. Her favorite things in life outside of her family are a huge cup of coffee, a blanket to snuggle under, and a delicious piece of cake—if you’re nice, she’ll even share.
Bobbie Rayne grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and still lives there today. She’s married to her very patient husband, and they have two amazing sons together, as well as two crazy dogs. She spends her time writing, driving her kids all over town, and helping run the PTA.
Her children are one of the reasons she loves YA so much, and one reason why she thinks it’s important to bring LGBTQ+ main characters into fiction. Writing YA has always been a dream of hers, and she truly believes that writing it is good for her soul. Her family means the world to her, but coffee might be high up on that list, too, so if you bring her some, you just might end up with a new best friend.

I recommend it, five stars, no doubt!
If you like YA guys, than this is for you! Congrats!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2018I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. As a matter of fact when it was over I was sad there was no more to read. First book in a long time I couldn’t put down. These two authors created something really special here. Being a teenager and figuring out who you are is never easy, add in the scrutiny of others and the self-doubt kicks in. But when you have love, when you have support and some kick ass people in your corner you realize those are the voices you should be listening too. Everyone deserves love, support, acceptance and a brother like Reilly Everette to have their back. If you ever doubted who you are then you’ll love this book. If youve ever felt different and found the courage to shine then you’ll love this book. I laughed, I cried, I felt their joy and their pain, all the time feeling like apart of their journey as I read about these kids. I fell in love with the characters. Lando is brave, full of life, compassionate and I love the way his brain works. Reilly is a rock, he is tough and fierce and deep he’s so worried about his brother he barely takes to the time to process how he feels about anything. He’s so supportive and protective in all the best ways. Milo, Ja, Natalie and the rest of the kids are interesting, likeable and believable. You just care about all of them. I can’t wait for the next one. And holy what about that cover? Isn’t it awesome? You’ll have to read it to find out just who the pink lion is?
- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2018This book absolutely amazing! It’s been a while since I’ve read a young adult book but I was not disappointed. This book had me smiling the whole time, for the love between the brothers to all the first love encounters in the book. It also shows the difficulty of cross dressing as a teenager and how people will still bypass a person who is being bullied in the hallway. It was not just a first love book but also showed the strength and support of the LGBTQ group. Reilly and Lando have such a amazing relationship with one another and how their relationship grows through the book is beautiful. Lando and Milo have an adorable love blooming between them and I enjoyed following them through the book. I also loved how the book didn’t just focused on more than one first love story. And the best part of the book had to be the show of love of Lando and his lifestyle. There was constant show of approval and even though there were set backs for Lando, he pushed through them with the help of his brother and his friends. And I have to say the ending was phenomenal! I loved every second of this book and I can’t wait to hear more about Reilly and his crush and all the people in the friend group! Steph Marie and Bobbie Rayne, y’all have created an amazing book and I’m looking forward to the second book of the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2019Oh Wow! This book has completely blown me away. I was spellbound from the start and kept enchanted right until the end. I'm not going to give away spoilers, as you really do need to have this story unfold for yourself, but it is an outstanding and completely extraordinary read!
The characters are amazing - I absolutely fell in love with Lando! Talk about courage and sacrifice! The relationship between him and his brother Reilly (Lee) was beautiful to read, and despite their differences, they were so close! Their father was a real piece of work, but their mother was an amazing woman - you could easily see how they became the people they are today with her in their corner.
Their friends were beautifully written as well. Such depth and variance! I honestly couldn't fault any of the character development. I loved that we got a few chapters from other characters, not all Lando and Reilly, and I am thoroughly looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Honestly, this is one of my favourite reads of 2019 and I would highly recommend it!

This is an incredible YA story. It was captivating and really presented an honest picture of the struggles an LGBTQ+ student might face in a high school setting. The love was easy to feel and I love the chosen family theme.
This book follows Lan, a feminine dressing boy who likes boys and art, and his brother Lee, a straight star football player, through navigating family trouble, boyfriends, girlfriends, and bullying. While the main story line follows the two brothers, the LGBTQ+ relationship is a large part of this story.
I just love how honest this story felt. I hope that what happens in this story doesn't actually happen to our LGBTQ+ youth but if it does happen I hope the children being bullied find allies like Lan does!
Overall, this is a great book and I would suggest that everyone should read it. It really could change minds and help those being bullied not feel so alone.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2018I think this story is adorable! I loved it so much :) It made me smile so much and snort laugh and giggle. Yes it has its sad parts that remind us that the world is still a scary place for those who are different but it has its redemption. I started this book during my lunch hour and couldn’t put it down to take a nap shared why with a coworker and she was hooked at description sent her link and she added to her to-read since she loves YA. I couldn’t wait to get home and finish it but finally passed out asleep from cold meds and wrapped it up this morning. If you love ya and adorable sweet and awkward teen romance this has it all :) I did win
a free ARC copy of this book but this is a honest review :) It on books yo give as gifts list now :)
