GEORGIANNA: A Regency Romance (Miss Wolfraston's Ladies Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,732 ratings

Lady Georgianna Voss bids adieu to her friend Marianne with a heavy heart. Before their friendship blossomed, she had been a stranger to affection. She returns to her home uncertain of her reception. She has spurned the advances of the eligible but dull man her Mama wished her to marry. Having witnessed the cold, unhappy union between her parents, she is not at all eager to follow their example.

Enraged, Lady Westbury sends Georgianna to her impoverished aunt, hoping that she will realise just how much a lady needs a wealthy husband, regardless of her feelings for him.

Georgianna embarks on a journey of self-discovery and meets two very different gentlemen who are far from dull.

Her head tells her one is ineligible and her heart that the other would never make her happy.

When she suddenly finds herself facing disgrace, it seems she must make a choice. But should she listen to her head or her heart?

Although this is the end of this series as I have run out of Miss Wolfraston's Ladies, you will meet some of them again in my follow up series!

I live by the sea in Plymouth, England, with my partner Dave. I like reading, sailing, and exploring in our camper van. I love getting up early to watch the sunrise in summer, and long quiet evenings by the wood burner in our cabin on the cliffs in Cornwall in winter.

I write traditional Regency romance novels that respect the mores of the era. I like to think my characters, though flawed, are likeable, strong, and true to the period.

I laughed out loud so many times reading this! To me, that is a mark of an excellent story! I’m so glad I’ve found this author…now if her books weren’t priced so high. I only allow myself $3/book. With the first in this series free, it worked out to that amount but I won’t be buying any more price over $3.

Same good characters and what I really enjoy is you get to "be there" when the villain gets her "just due" and the happy ending occurs! Also I REALLY enjoy that some characters who at first seem to be a villain with bad character, can change and are later fleshed out and you understand their original behavior better.

Also I really enjoy that the main character and her Aunt meld so well and they each help the other. The heroine is almost too good to be true, but does have some faults (good to know)!!

There is mystery, hidden identities, closure to big problems and solutions spelled out not just "solved at the speed of light to finish the book" as in many novels of this type.

The grammar is good but not perfect--I do find it sad when in period books, characters say "try AND do it" THAT is only used since the 1980's! The other one is FARTHER and FURTHER! If you want to be sure not to make a mistake, the simplest rules to follow are: Use farther only when you are referring to distance, literal or figurative. Use further only to mean “more”.

This author's books are a great way to relax and escape from today's stresses! ENJOY!

A truly delightful story! Wonderful characters and storyline! Allerdale was the first book of Jenny Hambly that I had read so it was so fun to get the real backstory on him and Georgianna. Totally recommend this book and it's series and I guess the following series. Can't say enough about it!

I do think Ms. Hambly makes her characters a bit too forgiving, it’s at least sweet rather than saccharine.
I am very glad of Aunt Hester’s choice.
But all these 17 year olds falling in love is a bit hard to take. I get it happened but I do like a more mature heroine. My own choices at that age would have been a disaster!

I just completed Georgianna (Miss Wolfraston's Ladies Book 3). This series has given me hours of reading pleasure. I have been a Recency romance fan since my first Georgette Heyer book in 1968 (These Old Shades). It is a joy to find a new author with the humor, character development and romance of Ms. Hambly. Highly recommend this series, which should be read in order. I got these books on Kindle Unlimited, but will be purchasing them for my permanent library.

She didn't feel love from her family first sent to a friend's house then a distant relative. Another well written story in the series with a believable plot and characters. I have enjoyed reading this authors work she has a way of bringing that era to life.

Loved the continuation of storyline of Mrs. Wolfrastrons Ladies. Only drawback from the series IMO is how the story abruptly stops as soon as the characters declare their feelings. An epilogue at least would be nice to include. But love how the multiple characters intertwine, even if it’s a bit hard to keep track at times.

Excellent series, and I enjoyed this one very much.
One of three friends in this series. This Character I felt deserved the opportunity to fall in love and find friendship. After a cold cruel mother, and a father who left her to her own devices.
There are many interesting people who come into her life, and teach her to trust and allow her to change.
    Excellent clean book, happy ending

The author is very talented and it's a joy reading her stories. All loveable characters.
As good as the first one , even better. This one had more romance, sweetness and feelings. So much humour too.
I skipped reading in order as I was eager to know what happens to Georgianna. I loved it. Gives u a happy feeling.

This has been another delightful read to round off the trilogy. It's difficult to decide which of the books I enjoyed the most and I look forward to seeing what happens to Lord Allendale, as the author hints of after the end of the book. Ms Hambly captures the essence of Georgette Heyer, but with a modern twist, and the relief of reading a book set in the Regency era written in proper English (rather than American English) is a real treat.
