    This was such an amazing story! I loved Dean and Lainey and this adventure they were on together. It was so entertaining, sweet, and sexy! Loved it!

    I loved Dean and Lainey's first meeting. They had such an amazing, instant connection. I was filled with so much anticipation as things played out, as Lainey found out she was pregnant and I couldn't wait for Dean's reaction. I thought they had great development together. There was this awesome instant lust that grew and became so much more. It was fiery and hot but also so sweet and caring. Lainey was awesome, I loved her vibe and attitude and her outlook on life. I adored Dean, he was so smooth and sweet. I loved learning about him and all of his wicked ways from his past. He is far from the outrageous teenager people remember him as. I love how he was honest and open about his past, learned from it, and really grew. There were so many great moments happening, they had me laughing and smiling, and sometimes I had tears in my eyes because it was so heartfelt.

    There was an awesome cast of secondary characters involved. I loved Lainey's son and their relationship and I like the bonding moments he experienced with Dean and with others. I loved getting to see Callie and Garrett from Getting Schooled and getting updates on them. I adored Dean’s grandmother, she cracked me up. There was also a character connection to another series that thrilled me to see.

    The writing was fantastic. It moved at a good clip and I was invested the entire time, excited for what was going to happen next. There was such a good flow that had me hooked and I really enjoyed the dual POVs as well as the timeline of the story. Great details mixed with a lot of sweet, a nice amount of heat, a whole lot of heart, and more laugh-out-loud moments than I could count.

    Emma Chase is such a wonderful storyteller. She has such an engaging way of telling a story that pulls you in. I couldn’t read fast enough and never wanted it to end. This was amazing!

    Picked up this book after it was recommended by a podcaster, and I agree, this is a fun read.
    Sometimes the family members of the main character can be too much. When I initially read that Lainey had four sisters, I just knew they were going to be over-the-top. Shame on me, because I loved every time her sisters showed up on the scene. Enjoyed her father and especially Jaybird who was a pivotal character in the book.
    This one-night stand plot turned into a great story with loads of interesting characters.

    I normally don’t care for audiobooks, but I got sick and tired of waiting for this bad boy to come out. Since I have the Audible Escape package I decided to give this book a try, and oh hot damn am I glad I tried it.

    Lainey is a single parent who is raising a 14 year old boy while running her lifestyle blog. Getting the job of a lifetime to blog for FB about redecorating a house in another town, Lainey decides to let loose one night. Who knew that one night would turn into a box worth of used condoms and an end to her 5 year dry spell. While she hoped she would be able to have somewhat of a repeat with Drummer boy, she undoubtedly knew that either he wouldn’t call or kindly kick her out awkwardly.

    Dean spent his summer touring with his band. Coming back home to Lakeside to get back to teaching and coaching football during the rest of the year. Dean has been in a mood, after ending the summer without the number of the gorgeous blonde he can’t get out of his head and coming back to his grandmother. He moves on with teaching his AP Calculus class. Filled with mostly juniors, but there is a Jason Burrow who is 14 years old.

    When teacher conference with the parents happens, who else walks in, none other than his one-night stand Lainey. Will Dean be able to put his old ways to rest and be the man Lainey needs? Will Lainey be left to take care of another child by herself?

    I loved this book. It may have been an audiobook, but I loved it. I loved the comedy so much and hearing it in audio was that funnier! **giggle** I highly recommend this book and it can be read as a standalone. I will however, recommend that you also read Getting Schooled. It is just as funny, sweet and is about Garret and Callie.

    Dean never expected to still feel Lainey months later. He’s back home and back teaching. When the new student, Jason arrives in his class he doesn’t think anything of it. That is until he meets his mom. Holy shit! You guessed it right. Lainey the woman he can’t get out of his head or his heart is Jason’s mom.

    Meeting her again he knows this has to mean something but when he really looks at her he realises that Lainey is pregnant with his baby. The player now has to to get this single mom on side. He’s all in. It’s only been him and his grams but seeing Lainey and Jason he sees a family.

    It’s a super sweet read with minimal drama. No cheating!!!

    This is in my top ten reads this year.

    It started out great. Single mom meets sexy drummer in a bar and has a steamy encounter. Lainey has a fabulous job as a lifestyle blogger and is moving into a period home on a lake for a year to redecorate for her FB blog series. Right up my alley. The hero, Dean, teaches high school AP calculus and coaches football. Super interesting. However I felt zero chemistry between the characters and lost interest when the plot became more about their romance. I skimmed the last 50%.

    Getting Played is the second book in @authoremmachase’s Getting Some series. This was a re-read for me and I enjoyed it just as much another time around.

    Getting Played follows the story of lifestyle blogger Lainey Burrows and teacher/coach/singing drummer (Kirsty’s favourite kind), Dean Walker. The pair part ways after a glorious one night stand. No numbers exchanged and regrets on both sides. As fate would have it Lainey moves to Dean’s hometown of Lakeside for work and they meet up again.

    The chemistry with these two is instant and you’re flung straight into the deep end of their intensity. I loved the way the story wove the characters back together and the way Lainey handles herself and Dean’s reaction to her news.

    Just as with the first book it’s sweet when kids are involved and Lainey’s son is so sweet and protective of his mum and so mature for his age. I loved his part in the story. It’s also great to catch up with Garrett and Callie from the first book and see how they’re getting on a few years down the line.

    We’ve both read these books and can highly recommend them. Having recently re-listened to the audiobooks I can absolutely recommend them too. The narrators are two of my favourites and they’re excellent in both books so far.

    We are SO looking forward to the audiobook release of the third book in the series Getting Real featuring Connor Daniels *swoon*! Can’t wait! Coming in October.
