Getting Off Easy (Boys of the Big Easy): A surprise baby romance Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,040 ratings

A sexy opposites attract, surprise baby romance!

New Orleans firefighter, James Reynaud’s true love is hanging out in the jazz clubs on Frenchmen Street and playing piano with some of the best musicians in the city. But driving his cute, bookworm neighbor Harper Broussard crazy is right up there on his list of favorite things.

The buttoned-up linguistics professor across the hall is a little older, a lot smarter, and way too good for him. And she knows it. But wow is she beautiful when she blushes.

She’s equally gorgeous when she’s saving his butt. Because now things just got serious. A baby has been, literally, dropped off on his doorstep and to say he’s in over his head is an understatement. Not that Harper knows anything about babies either. But at least they now have something in common.

GETTING OFF EASY is a standalone read with a happy ending. It is set in New Orleans and is a bit sexy if that is an issue for you. James, about 24-25, is a sexy fireman bachelor. He is one in a million. James is kind and has a big caring heart. Everyone that knows him knows he can be depended on to take care of and fix things. He loves being a fireman and uses it around the ladies where it always pays off in big dividends. He also plays a mean piano at a night club in the French Quarters. He is a great guy. He lives in an apartment across from Harper.

Harper is 32, a professor of languages at Loyola University. She is beautiful, professional, put together. She is classy. She has spotted James and she is doing her best to avoid getting involved with him. He is too young for her and a bit on the wild side. Harper enjoys an evening at home with a cup of tea and a book to read. She loves romance novels. Especially erotica. She has a stack of 6 books on her night stand.

One evening she has a knock on the door and it is James. He has a big plant in his hands and wants to know if she knows how to take care of a ficus plant. One, it is not a ficus plant, it is an olive tree. He needs to know the difference and how to take care of it himself. She has him do a paper on the taking care of an olive tree. He does it. She keeps the tree and takes care of it. Next he brings home a big lizard. It isn't long before she finds she rather likes Henry. Then it is a pup. During all this time they are getting to know one another and she finds that James is so much more than the person she thought he was. They start to fall for each other. Things are going along rather well until he knocks on her door and he is holding a new born baby. Lots of confusion as Harper starts to think it was the result of one of his one night stands. He never even thought it was his until she mentioned that. Then the fun begins. James, with the big heart that he has immediately starts to fall in line with it being his son.

This is a great story. It is funny and fun. It is serious and emotional. It is sexy and romantic. It is a great read and I really enjoyed it. I would DEFINITELY recommend it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 2/1/2021

Love Erin Nicholas is books but this one was exceptional. its about a fireman, James with a big heart who also plays piano w/ A jazz band in a small venue in New Orleans and a linguistic professor, Harper who lives in the only apartment on a large landing near his. He has people give him a large lizard, A little stray dog hanging around the fire station and then an indoor olive tree to take care of. His roles with it but gets the professor to help him care for each because of his work schedule and being called out to fight big fires when off. a they end up both falling in love w/ the dog so they jointly own him. Then a baby is dropped on James's doorstep when he is not home w/ an unsigned note stating that the mother knows " younwill.take good.caremofmhim'".James and Harper think he must be the father and J to know who is the mother. James has had a crush on Harper for six months and Harper secretly had a crush on James. James gets Harper involved in helping with the baby. A friend who.is a nurse has James take a DNA test which takes weeks to get the results of. James and Harper both realize they are in love and love the baby so get engaged. .They try to find the.mother who.must have been one of four one night stands James had on a fifty day time period cause they don't know the baby's dob. Then the results come back and James is not the father!! You got to read to near the amazing twists and the rest of this excellent story!

Another Erin Nicholas book to add to my favorites collection! This series is the gift that keeps on giving! Every book in this series has featured very hot guys, spunky heroines with personality and a kid (or kids). Getting Off Easy didn't initially look like it fit with the others, because neither the hero (James) or the heroine (Harper) were members of the parenting support group that linked the other stories. However, other characters from the series do make appearances in this book, and the story has the same overall tone, sexiness, and humor as the other books in this series. By that, I mean, run do not walk to go read this book!!! James is a (hot) firefighter, pretty used to women falling over themselves to spend time with him. His pretty professorial neighbor, Harper, doesn't even seem to notice he exists most of the time, and its making him crazy. James is working on changing that, and is, in fact, making some headway. Suddenly, a baby on his doorstep changes absolutely everything. I loved James, and I loved that he was never afraid to do the hard things. Making a connection with Harper took a lot of sincere effort. Taking care of a new baby was definitely a challenge, and he didn't even blink. There is a tinge of bittersweetness in this story, and I have found myself thinking about it a lot as time goes on. I worry about everyone involved as if they are real people that I know, and could actually check in on. And that, I think, is Erin Nicholas' biggest strength: she builds a world filled with real, flawed, interesting characters you actually want to spend more time with. In this series, New Orleans has become a character as well. Erin Nicholas' New Orleans is a world I wish I could live in. And of course, the characters have incredible chemistry that nearly set my kindle on fire, which never hurts. This is a wonderful addition to the series, but you could easily read it and dive right in, even if you haven't read the other books in the series. (Although, if you haven't, what the heck are you waiting for?? Go. Go right now. Hurry up! You won't regret it, I promise!). I highly recommend Getting Off Easy, as well as the other books in the Boys of the Big Easy series.

Well, the wait for Harper and James’ story was long but so definitely worth it!!! I may be a little biased being a musician and jazz lover, but James Reynard is totally the real deal! And he’s also a firefighter, and one of the good ones, whom you’d trust with your life and that of those you love. So no wonder someone drops a baby on his doorstep no?
Harper is fascinated with her neighbour who always downplays his abilities in order to get her to help him and spend time together, so what can she do when he shows up with a baby?
And by the way, who is this baby? Read the book to know the identity of the book and the amazing chemistry between James and Harper, they are definitely worth it!!

James is an easy going, handsome firefighter who has a thing for his slightly older neighbour. He is the sort of guy people go to for help and for six months he has been trying to get the attention of his lovely neighbour. When a baby is found on his doorstep he automatically takes control thinking it must be his and he draws Harper in to help in look after the baby. James is glad she is there to support him and he finds himself falling hard for her.

Getting Off Easy traz I’m mix de temas de sucesso: o bombeiro sexy, o bebê surpresa e a professora séria e inteligente.
É um romance doce, delicado e sexy que prende a atenção e diverte.
Não é um enredo que será lembrado por anos a fio mas proporciona bons momentos de escapismo.

So romantic and tender. Would have liked a wedding, but know it will happen. Wish there was another episode, to know how they made out fostering a 13 year old. Love reading erin’s books, romance with a little comedy and down to earth!

Lovely to be back in the French Quarter, and Trahan's. And the firefighter's easy on the eye too. And the dog. And the lizard. A morning's read of great delight for someone finding out who she can be, just like our gorgeous heroine. A fab read - namaste, @ErinNicholas! ✨💖🙏
