Gia The Not Giant Giraffe: An Inspirational Rhyming Picture Book Kindle Edition

4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 63 ratings

Giraffes have long necks, right? Think again! Full of colorful animal illustrations and set in the beautiful African savanna, this rhyming picture book follows Gia, a giraffe with a not so giant neck, as she goes on a journey of self-discovery. This is a giraffe book like no other.

Gia galloped off a smile on her face, determined to find her special place. “I know I’m unique, but don’t know how. I’m off to find out. Bye-bye for now!”

As well as proving her small size can actually be an advantage, Gia also learns some important life lessons along the way about being unique, self-confident and not comparing yourself to others. Children will also find a bunch of fun learning activities, including spot the difference, a word search and even fact files for the animals featured in this rhyming picture book.

Perfect for children of all ages, who will love listening to Gia’s adventure, which makes Gia The Not Giant Giraffe ideal for bedtime stories, group reading, or one-on-one with loving parents or grandparents.

I liked the rhyming style of telling the story. This is of course fiction, but I would have liked to see the nasty giraffes also repent being nasty before, even though the ending is happy for Gia. And the fun facts about animals to be in a little bigger font for visibility on small screens. However, I really liked the story and the part after the story. This was not a predictable plot.

This is a great book to teach children (and people in general) not to make assumptions about others. With it’s witty rhyming and beautiful illustrations, kids will love this book. In the back, it has some learning activities and information about the animals mentioned in the book... perfect for tying in more educational opportunities.

Very cool picture book that comes complete with puzzles and educational content. The plot is slimmed down, suitably for very young readers, but one twist on traditional plotting is the flat character arc. Gia doesn't learn that short is okay during the course of the story - she already knows this. The minor plotpoints show her boasting about her shortness to other animals, which is a nice touch. Very positive lessons here for kids.

This is an adorable book with a powerful message for kids who are different and bullied revealing how to proudly be you. Great information too about animals and some fun activities for kids to do at the end of the story. Loved it! Now time to read to my grandkids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute second story in this series - great for kids!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 16, 2020
This second book in the series is just as cute and inspiring as the first! Children not only get to discover the animals of Africa through Gia the Giraffe’s eyes but also learn about how being unique is a great thing. As before, the illustrations are very lovingly made and really bring this adventure to life! Get the paper version if you can as it’s much more engaging up close but either way I’m sure your kids will love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright, colourful book with an important message!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 17, 2020
Loved the message of this book, as Gia, a small giraffe with a short neck, sets out to show a series of other animals why being small can be an advantage, and eventually earns the respect of the other young giraffes too. The rhyming text is fun to read, and the illustrations are bright and colourful. An enjoyable story.
