    I've been a fan of Susan Ward's series since I first read the Half-Shell Series. What can I say? These characters all feel like family to me because of Ward's uncanny ability to flesh her characters out so deliciously normal, yet each with their own unique flaws. Krystal was the middle child. She was supposed to be the one they didn't have to worry about. Grounded, level-headed, reasonable - and quiet. Not the wild child like her older sister, or mischievous like the younger twin boys. But we all know that still waters run deep, and none run deeper than the secrets Krystal hides deep within her soul.

    To complicate matters, her flight from the nest has some unexpected baggage. That's right. She won't be able to shake her security shadow, but then, does she really want to? He just might be the one person who can save her from herself.

    No spoilers here, but rest assured, like all of Susan Ward's books, you will enter the story and quickly become a voyeur to all that takes place. She brings all of her characters, main and secondary, to life with her character and plot development that transitions so smoothly to keep you reading and wanting more.

    I could not put this book down. Krystal is a very complex girl, she reminds me of Chrissie so much. She tries to control every aspect of her life, including how she loves. She wants so badly to make a name for herself by herself. She has her life all planned out, but the one thing she didn't plan for, was Jacob. He taught her what life and love were all about.
    This book really threw me for a loop. I have read every one of the Parker family books, but this one really felt different to me. It has some very dark topics and takes turns that you least expect. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There aren't enough stars to give it!
    I was given this book as an ARC book, but I had already pre-ordered the day it was an option. I would highly recommended this book and gladly pay for it again!

I really liked the whole plot and how the protagonists got together, but later in the book there’s way too much troubles and misunderstandings going on that I sort of didn’t like. If u r not into pushing away and relationship problems, this might not be for you.

    Of all of the books I have read by this author, this one is the most intense. I was not expecting the book to go in the direction it went. The way the book starts had my attention right away because it had me wondering what had happened to Krystal. After it sets the tone for the book, it goes back to three years previously when Krystal and Jacob met. The book had both pov's, which I was really glad to read. Because Krystal tries so hard to control her life and what happens to her, she ends up being miserable and comes across as being bitchy, even though she doesn't see herself that way. The chemistry between them is intense and you want to pull for them right from the beginning, especially for Jacob because he is such a nice guy. When the book goes back to present time, the direction their relationship has turned is not quite what I was expecting. Krystal also comes across a much nicer person and even though she might be more private. What happens to her is certainly not what I was expecting. How the whole situation was handled with the freak outs and revulsion was quite well. My heart breaks for Jacob because of what happened and you just hope that everything will work out. At the beginning of the book, Krystal is so frustrating with her attitude but by the end of the book you are just pulling for her to be able to make comeback from the tragedy. Even though I was not ready for the book to end, I was satisfied with the ending of the book.

    I'll begin with saying this.. I'm a big fan of Susan Ward, and this book really impacted me a great deal.

    This is the 3rd book in the Sand & Fog Series; but can be read as a stand alone. Honestly, for a better reading experience, start at the beginning with The Half Shell Series. You will understand the characters a lot more. And why they are the way they are.

    Krystal Harris is the second child to a famous music couple. She's headed NYC to make it as a Prima Ballerina. Keeping her current boyfriend a secret from her family for two years,Krystal is now faced with only option, letting him go before she leaves.

    Jacob Merrick - Body guard to the Music Dual's Family. He doesn't say much, and keeps to himself. But Krystal, is different from the rest of the family, she is all training, and working her butt off to make it big.

    I will tell you this.. As a reader, I was sucked in from the beginning. I wasn't a fan of Krystal at the start. She was rude, mouthy, and in control. Now, don't get me wrong, it fit her. She needed things her way to accomplish everything she ever wanted. Jacob was Mr. Heart-throb. He isn't your billionaire, your bad boy (only when protecting his country, and sister), he isn't into your kink fill sexual fantasies. Jacob Merrick is your heart felt hero. He's the one you want to spend your whole life with.

    As I got through Part 1; I was hooked. I started to like Krystal more, and her story started to unravel. Jacob was her body guard, even though their little encounter at the beach house put a damper in her plans. The more you read the book, the more it draws you in. Believe me, it's not a bad thing. I was sucked in a little more, the further I got, the more I was sucked in.

    This story gets dark. I got emotional, my heart hurt. I won't lie. This story is everything they don't want authors to write. This story is one of the best. I took me in further, and did not release me after it was all said and done. I loved Krystal by the end, even though I didn't want her to give up. Jacob was the best at what he did. He stood by her all the way.

    This is a story that will touch you deep inside. Leave you emotional, and trying to climb your way out. This is one of the bests book I've have read so far.. Susan Ward did an amazing job.

    I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy to review this. This is my first ever review so don't ecpect too much!

    I loved the book. I raced through it and now have to go back and read again, happily.

    Susan sucks you in with the characters each time. They start out as strangers and as the book goes on they become your family.

    This time the subject matter is darker then the previous books. Krystal is as flawed as her parents and sister but the road is certainly harder for her and Jacob.

    Towards the end you are wondering how they will cope and as usual jack has wise words for them both.
    I would have loved a little more of Alan and Chrissie, only because Susan has made me fall in love with them and want more but hey we can't have everything.

    I can't wait for more books about the Parker family. Susan you have done an amazing job and made the lat weekend of summer that much more enjoyable 😊

    Wow, Krystal was always going to have a journey and a half and boy did she....a truly heart stopping moment nearly three quarters of a way through resulted in a story that packs a punch with all the usual layers in the characters I expect from Susan....loved the book, loved revisiting my favourite book family, some fab humour in those interactions, wanted more of the siblings but hey Kaley had her turn and the others will get theirs...cant wait now to revisit Krystal when Ethans story unfolds next...thank you Susan oh and carry on...please!
