4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 266 ratings

I didn't expect you. Certainly wasn't looking for a relationship. But, my heart is drawn to you and I can't stop the way it's beating, demanding more.

This distance between us should have been enough to stop me. It isn't, though. It only makes my feelings for you to grow stronger. Deeper.

Not even knowing you're my brother's best friend could have stopped me from wanting more with you.
Too bad the universe has other plans.

You say that you'll stop at nothing to make me yours.
But, our pasts have a way of sneaking up on us.

I hope I'm strong enough to withstand the hurt.

Because my heart... it's gone for you.

Gone for You is the first book in the All For You series. Each book is a complete standalone with interconnected characters. Gone For You is a brother's best friend, sweet and sizzling small town romance.

From the Ground Up was Jennifer’s first published novel and now that she was bitten by the writing bug, has no intention of ever stopping. Jennifer makes her home in small town Iowa with her high school sweetheart, three beautiful, hilarious and amazing kids, one crazy Jack Russell terrier. This is where her love for all things reading, baking, and cooking happen. Jennifer’s family enjoys camping, boating, and spending time outside as much as possible. You'll be her best friend if you can make her laugh and follow up with asking her what to read next. When she’s not writing, you can find her cheering the loudest at her kids’ sporting events (read as: embarrassing them), sipping coffee or iced tea out of a mason jar with her Kindle in her lap or binging on Netflix.

Olivia goes to visit her brother in college and runs into a super hot guy. Turns out it’s her brother’s friend and neighbor. Only being 17 at the time her brother warns his friend to stay away.
Ethan owns his own bar and meets a lot of women, but still remembers the 17 year old girl he met like 10 years prior, but hasn’t seen since that night. Until one day she ends up in his bar and they have an immediate connection.
I loved this story. It’s a little sexier than what Jennifer Van Wyk normally writes but it worked for Ethan and Olivia. I Love this storyline, I love the chemistry between them and how natural their relationship feels. This book had me laughing in several spots, there were many romantic heart warming moments, some touching sweet moments and quite a few sexy moments. I loved getting a glimpse of characters from her other books, but if you have never read any of them it doesn’t affect the story. I was definitely rooting for Ethan and Olivia and did feel sad for them in a couple of spots but I was over joyed at the end when they got their happily ever after and the journey they had to get there. I would definitely recommend this book!

Olivia and Ethan’s story is absolutely adorable. I love how they met originally and that the same spark of chemistry was still there when they met again 10 years later. Olivia’s quirky personality is a breath of fresh air and Ethan’s genuine authenticity is so endearing. I love these two together. I felt so much for both of them as they struggled with their familial issues while trying to reconcile the fear it caused with their intense feelings for each other. The supporting characters were wonderful and made the entire story so much more emotional and relatable. I now want to book myself a vacation at the Escape. I’m totally on the same page as Owen when it comes to where and how to live. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of the characters better in the next book.

My only complaint is that the book definitely needs additional editing. Not only were there some errors, but there were a lot of issues with sentence structure as well. Especially in the beginning of the book. Other than that, I really enjoyed it though!

First I love Jennifer's words. Ethan and Liv are both kind and compassionate. They had met before but now they are totally connected. Liv is cute, funny and sexy and Ethan is totally enchanted with her. They both have commitment issues do to people in lives leaving them. Ethan pushes Liv away after some issues come to light about his mom and sister. They are both in love but too scared to fight. They are protecting their hearts. Ethan realizes he should not have pushed her away. I love how they both realize in taking risks the rewards are worth it. I love all secondary characters in this story and am always happy when friends from previous books return. I am very excited for Rex and Chloe's story.

I'll try to be brief. It was an okay book. Just really corny and repetitive. "Barks out a laugh" is a phrase used about 25 times in this short book. Ethan was a good guy. The author is so desperate for us to know this that she has him adopt a family of 6. Parents and all. It makes as much sense as you think it does. He does everything for them except give the parents a job at the bar he owns for some reason. He is obsessed with Liv to unhealthy levels. Stalking her social media. Staring at pics of her on his phone for hours. Showing up uninvited at her home and expecting her to drop everything so they can hang for a couple days. Their relationship is overly cutesy. All flirtatious banter and sex. There is a lot of sex. Their relationship is pretty perfect until the author has to have them break up so we can get to the HEA. So she decides to have Ethan get a bit of info that changes almost nothing that he's always known, but for some reason it makes him treat Liv like absolute garbage and say things to her that I would never forgive. But because it's a romance book Liv takes responsibility for it because she didn't fight for him when he acted that way. Sure. That seems legit. It all ends very anticlimacticly and I was just underwhelmed.
