Finding Grace: the path to acceptance: Discover your personal meaning of grace with this illustrated book for adults (The Grace Girls 1) Kindle Edition

4.9 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

Finding Grace is an illustrated book for adults that explores the meaning of grace and its power to help us find acceptance of what we do not have in our lives in order to begin to find the joy in what we do have. The book includes the creative process, grace quotes and reflections that were of great comfort while coping with bereavement.

The charming, whimsical illustrations and thoughtful words make this one of those inspirational books that you can't help but share. If you are in search of gift books for women, this uplifting book is unmissable.

This book is dedicated to my very dear friend who was bravely battling breast cancer at around the time I started drawing these whimsical little girls in my sketchbook. At such times, we take comfort wherever we can find it and somehow these big-eyed girls offered me just that.

They gave me the chance to escape the world, even for a short time. They seemed to understand, could be whatever I needed: a joyful celebration of life, an expression of sorrow, a calm, reflective companion.

What mattered is that they were always there, trusting me to find the strength to support my friend through a difficult time and helping me find the grace to let her go.

I count myself so lucky to have engaged in a creative process that took on a life of its own. Through the process of creating a quick daily drawing I found myself contemplating grace and what it means to me.

This book is the result of all that contemplation: a mix of my own thoughts, words of others that resonated with me and, of course, the big-eyed girls that kept me company.

Come with me on that journey.

This book details the origin of these girls, explaining the creative project that was their genesis. It also includes a free behind the scenes video, which shows the painting of a couple of the illustrations in this book.

While drawing these girls and spending time with my friend during her treatment for breast cancer I spent a lot of time contemplating grace. I have included quotations about grace that I found meaningful, along with my own thoughts about this most admirable quality.

It is my hope that you find as much inspiration and comfort from this collection of words and images as I did in putting them together.

I've had this book in my library for a while and am finally getting to it. I initially bought it because I was drawn to the adorable tiny girl on the cover. She is so sweet, and now I find she is very special, as well. The book is chock-full of wise words and quotations about grace to set you thinking. The book won't give you the answer to how to find grace in your life or anything like that. What it will do is provide seeds for thought to grow. For your mind and soul to follow it's own path to its own unique answer to just what is grace. The Grace Girls are lovely additions to the quotations and text. I find it hard to say which is primary, the text of the book or the girls. I'm looking forward to book #2 in this series.

I got this book in ebook format from Amazon. This is an honest review and I am not being compensated in any way. All opinions are fully my own. ~ Judi E. Easley for Blue Cat Review
