Green Light (Caffeine Daydreams Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,096 ratings

What is the true nature of the relationship between the guitarist and bassist of the world-famous rock band, Caffeine Daydreams?

Kai

I should be happy.

My childhood best friend and I are living our wildest dream—making music and touring the world as famous rock stars. I’ve got everything I could wish for.

Except him.

I’ll never have Silas. Not the way I want.

Our onstage behaviour gives fans a lot to speculate over, but it’s only an act.

The truth is, I die inside every time we touch. It might be pretend for Silas, but for me, it’s a constant reminder that I can’t have him the way I truly desire.

Then, a moment onstage leads me to a breaking point, and I can’t bear the heartache any longer.

I need to find a way to only see Silas as a friend before I lose our friendship, and him, forever.

Silas

My life is split into two chapters.

Before Kai and After Kai.

My childhood was a nightmare. A darkness I carried alone. But everything became brighter when I met Kai. He took me into his life, his family, his home.

Kai is more than my best friend. He’s my everything.

Some people think our relationship is odd…that it’s unusual for two friends to be as close as we are.

But everything about us makes sense.

At least, that’s what I believed.

When an onstage moment shines a light on the cracks in our foundation, my eyes are opened to a truth that’s been right in front of me the entire time.

A truth I want to explore.

But it’s too late. Just when I’m ready for more, Kai’s moving on.

One thing’s for sure; I’m not giving up.

No matter the risks.

Green Light is a bi-awakening, best friends-to-lovers MM rockstar romance. The second in the Caffeine Daydreams series, each book will follow a different couple as they find their HEA. Although better read in order, these books can stand alone. For content warnings, please visit the author's website.

Kai & Silas Love
Ever come across a book that gave you a really good cry, one that you didn’t realize you needed? Well Lark did that with this book. When I tell you I cried for 10+ chapters I am not joking. I had emotions coming right out. The pinning that Kai had for Silas was very heartbreaking. To be in love with someone for almost 2 decades and “knowing” they will “never” return those feelings isn’t easy. The fact that Kai stuck by his best friends even feeling the way he was also very heart breaking. Silas home life when young and the fact that he had so many insecurities of people leaving him especially his best friend was heartbreaking for me. When he finally realized Kai’s feelings for him and the fact that he felt the same way gave me the ability to finally breath. But of course Lark didn’t allow that for very long as Silas biggest fear was coming to life, Kai was “moving” on without him 😩. The lack of communication between these 2 characters was very frustrating that’s for sure. Lark may have mad me most of us ugly cry but she made up for it once these 2 finally got their heads out of there @ss. The 🥵 in the bedroom was everything. What to expect // Trope 🏳️‍🌈 MM Romance 💜 Childhood Friends to Lovers 💜 Bi-Awakening 💜 Forced Proximity 💜 Grumpy x Sunshine 💜 Band Mates 💜 Famous Rock Band 💜 Guitarist x Bassist 💜 Interracial Couple (absolute love this)

Ooof. I knew this one would hurt. Silas and Kai’s story was guaranteed to bring some tears. I was already enthralled before Kai left at the end of their tour! My only complaint was I started reading in the morning and had to stop because…well..life and I don’t think my boss would accept a call in to cry over a book. These two men royally mess up and almost destroy their friendship by not being truthful with how they feel. Normally a lack of communication in a book is a huge turn off for me but this was different. These two just couldn’t seem to voice their feelings. They were both so afraid of losing what relationship they do have. Silas has hurt Kai for years without knowing it, but part of that is on Kai for never telling him about it. Kai’s heart is absolutely broken by everything that has come before and can’t see a way through. Silas’s heart breaks when he realizes he might lose Kai for good. There are some epic levels of pining and regret in this book but it is so worth it! I hung in there and had faith because Lark Taylor hasn’t let me down yet!

Kai and Silas have been best friends since they were. And they are in the same band. Kai has been in love with Silas the whole time, but Silas has been completely oblivious. Now, after twenty plus years, an antic on stage at their last show of a world tour has Silas questioning things at the same time Kai is finally trying to distance himself.

“I followed him home, not knowing this would be my life now. Me, following Silas, waiting for him to really see me.”

“Don’t you know you’re my secret? How much more obvious can I be? Because while you’re thinking of her, I can’t help wishing you were thinking of me”

Taylor writes beautifully. If you like angst, this is a good book for it. Poor Kai has been pining after Silas pretty much since they met as teenagers. And Silas is the only one who hasn’t noticed. It always kind of breaks my heart when characters have been in love with each other (even if one of them was in denial) for more than a decade—there’s something about that that just feels so sad. And here, it’s more than twenty years. Yikes. I nearly cried a couple of times as these two try to reckon with how things are changing. I totally get where Kai is coming from—twenty years is too long to put yourself second. But I also get where Silas is coming from—just awakening to this other side to his feelings for Kai and the timing being so off that they nearly miss their chance. I like that all of their issues aren’t magically solved as soon as they finally come together. It’s good to see them face those things together.

Of course it was delightful to get a glimpse of Ollie and Luca. I kinda wish there’d been a bit more. But Kai’s family are so great. I wouldn’t have wanted less time with them. And then there are hints about Arlo’s story. I have a feeling it could be another angsty one, but I’m here for it.

There were a couple of things that made me not love this book as much as I might have and they’re just pet peeves of mine, not lack of quality in the story or writing. One is lack of communication as a driving force of conflict. If Kai had just told Silas his feelings, especially after the kiss on stage, it’s possible there wouldn’t be a need for the book at all. Also while I did like seeing Kai and Silas face things together, I couldn’t help but feel like the end dragged out a bit.

Still, Kai and Silas work hard for their HEA. I definitely recommend this book if you like angsty rock star mm romance.

Lark can blow me away with demons and supernatural hotties one day, and rock stars the next ! This was perfect to pull me out of a book coma. This was book 2 in the series, and as amazing as book one was, this one was even better ! I am literally blown away each time.

I have a soft spot for the best friends to lovers storylines! And I loved me some Kai and Silas ! They of course meet super young and become close friends. Silas doesnt have the nicest home life when he meets Kai, and Kais family takes him under their wing and him and Kai stay the closest of friends.

Kai is gay and Silas believes he's straight. Or so he thought. Poor Silas has no idea just how deep his best friends feelings are for him. Kai has been in love with his best friend for years. When Silas starts to realize his feelings go alot deeper than just besties, Kai is already off on the other side of the country trying to distance himself from Silas and his strong feelings for best friend.

You know it wouldn't be a LT book without the heartbreak. Of course these 2 can't just tell each other how they feel for the other. Worried the admission will hurt the other and their friendship. They go through alot trying to figure out their feelings on their own. It takes some bestie bandmates and family members to make them realize how hard headed they are being. They gotta work for it, but boy was it rewarding by the end.

This story is truly beautiful! It is a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you dizzy but
    asking for more!
It was love at first sight for Kai, or almost, even back then when both didn’t know what love
is. Their bond and friendship is unique, strong, beautiful.
Silas was a lanky lad in ripped jeans and an Offspring T-Shirt… and in his hands was a thick
branch. That day he met Kai and that was it. With a nightmare of a childhood but with Kai’s
unconditional friendship and support he got to the present… living his wildest dream,
together with his friend. They are making music! Their background so fundamental to who
they are now. To what they are and mean to each other.
Oh, the angst in this book… How can Silas be so oblivious when the truth is just in front of
him? In the lyrics! This book made me happy and sad and angry. The other members of the
band always there. Their security guys. Kai’s family (#goals).
“Green Light” is book 2 in the Caffeine Daydreams series. It can be read as a standalone but I
suggest you pick up book 1 (if you haven’t read it yet) first. So you can dive into the
phenomenal magic writing of Lark Taylor… and get ready for book 3, Jack and Arlo’s story.
I devoured the book in two days. Loved it! And I don’t think that any words of mine can do
    justice…
“Like I’m drowning and flying. A contradiction of living and dying”

Omg. Longing. ALL THE LONGING. ugh this book was just SO good. Really. I mean Kai went about stuff in WAY the wrong way and I wanted to reach into the book and slap him upside the head a few times BUT after pining for someone for like 20 years I can't really blame him for not being able to see clearly.

Silas is just so freaking cute. The oblivious but happy golden retriever puppy character. My Heart broke for him a couple times.

It was so worth it to see the journey these 2 went on and how they worked everything out and found happiness.

This is one of those books that leaves you with that warm fuzzy feeling because everything worked out exactly as you wanted it to. 🥰

Lark Taylor has quickly become one of my must-read authors. And this book is another little gem. I loved Kai and Silas. Watching them work out their feelings was intense but so worth it in the end. And the ending has a great soppy scene that was so sweet and just so right for this couple.
I would recommend reading this series in order.

this review is rather about my feelings than about what the actual story is about - I mean... you can read the blurb for that, right?

so...book 2 of the Caffeine Daydreams series

"green light" gave me all the feels
    ...like literally... ALL

it made me angry and sad and happy and angsty
    and I loved it all!

the story of Silas and Kai is way more than expected it to be.
to be honest - when I read book 1 I was kinda curious about Si and Kai but not exactly excited.
and what did Lark Taylor do? completely surprised me about how intense this story is
I started the book on one day and finished it on the next.

"green light" is the story of Silas and Kai - two members of the crazy famous band "Caffeine Daydreams".
they are childhood best friends and living their dream together being in a band.
everything seems perfect - but, as often, nothing is.

You don't actually need to read book 1 to understand the story but knowing the main characters from the first book makes the read way mire enjoyable I think
(and let's be honest here - you can't go wrong with any of Lark Taylor's books)

So I stayed up past 1am to finish this read... despite the fact I started work at 8am the next morning. Now doing this review in my lunch break so I actually got sleep last night!!

We got teased (iykyk) about kai and silas in the first book in this series, which was also a phenomenal read.

What I think I loved most about this book is the build-up of their relationship from the first moment they met. Through Kai's realisation that he liked men or specifically one man, to then Silas realising that he did not want to be in the friend zone and best friends don't do that, bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This was sooo god darn sweet but also so heart breaking because they were so in love but so scared to lose each other.

This book will be living rent-free in my head for a while

    5☆☆☆☆☆

Definitely recommend this series and am looking forward to book 3 in the series and maybe some side character spin offs ??? 👀👀👀
