Green Light (Caffeine Daydreams Book 2) Kindle Edition
What is the true nature of the relationship between the guitarist and bassist of the world-famous rock band, Caffeine Daydreams?
Kai
I should be happy.
My childhood best friend and I are living our wildest dream—making music and touring the world as famous rock stars. I’ve got everything I could wish for.
Except him.
I’ll never have Silas. Not the way I want.
Our onstage behaviour gives fans a lot to speculate over, but it’s only an act.
The truth is, I die inside every time we touch. It might be pretend for Silas, but for me, it’s a constant reminder that I can’t have him the way I truly desire.
Then, a moment onstage leads me to a breaking point, and I can’t bear the heartache any longer.
I need to find a way to only see Silas as a friend before I lose our friendship, and him, forever.
Silas
My life is split into two chapters.
Before Kai and After Kai.
My childhood was a nightmare. A darkness I carried alone. But everything became brighter when I met Kai. He took me into his life, his family, his home.
Kai is more than my best friend. He’s my everything.
Some people think our relationship is odd…that it’s unusual for two friends to be as close as we are.
But everything about us makes sense.
At least, that’s what I believed.
When an onstage moment shines a light on the cracks in our foundation, my eyes are opened to a truth that’s been right in front of me the entire time.
A truth I want to explore.
But it’s too late. Just when I’m ready for more, Kai’s moving on.
One thing’s for sure; I’m not giving up.
No matter the risks.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2023Ooof. I knew this one would hurt. Silas and Kai’s story was guaranteed to bring some tears. I was already enthralled before Kai left at the end of their tour! My only complaint was I started reading in the morning and had to stop because…well..life and I don’t think my boss would accept a call in to cry over a book. These two men royally mess up and almost destroy their friendship by not being truthful with how they feel. Normally a lack of communication in a book is a huge turn off for me but this was different. These two just couldn’t seem to voice their feelings. They were both so afraid of losing what relationship they do have. Silas has hurt Kai for years without knowing it, but part of that is on Kai for never telling him about it. Kai’s heart is absolutely broken by everything that has come before and can’t see a way through. Silas’s heart breaks when he realizes he might lose Kai for good. There are some epic levels of pining and regret in this book but it is so worth it! I hung in there and had faith because Lark Taylor hasn’t let me down yet!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2023"I followed him home, not knowing this would be my life now. Me, following Silas, waiting for him to really see me."
Kai and Silas have been best friends since they were kids. But for decades now, Kai has been hiding the fact that he's in love with Silas. Every time they perform together on stage, it hurts him more and more, until he finally decides he needs space to move on. But one impromptu kiss turns Silas on his head and changes the trajectory of their lives.
"This was Kai. He wasn’t just a random guy. He was the other half of me."
When Kai walks away, it gives time for Silas to really process his feelings. And through that bone deep pain of separation, he realizes that his feelings for Kai have been about so much more than friendship for years.
"Loving you has been the one constant in my life. Not my family, nor our careers, or even our friendship. It’s just been you."
From book one, it's been obvious that these two were meant to be together. And once you get into their heads, it's so clear that they love each other, even if it takes Silas a while to figure it out for himself. They're always there for each other, no matter what. And are their truest selves when they're with one another. And even when they were "just friends," their chemistry was off the charts. It's no wonder their fans were constantly shipping them.
"I was burning. I needed Kai to douse the flames."
These two were magical together, and while they did heat things up, it wasn't my favorite part about them. That would be how protective and supportive they were of each other. And the found family they've built with their band and their bodyguards is so special. I'm kind of hoping that the guards get their own stories cause they've wormed their way into my heart and I'm deeply invested now. But first I NEED Arlo and Jack's story. It feels like it's going to be angsty and heartbreaking, and I am so ready for it.
"“This is it now. You and me.” His smile was like a budding flower, cautiously sprouting before erupting into full bloom."
This best friends to lovers, rockstar romance was emotional with some hardcore pining, hints of hurt/comfort and an onstage awakening that will knock your socks off. I truly enjoyed seeing these two find their way to an HEA and am so excited to read the next book in this series!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2023This story is truly beautiful! It is a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you dizzy but
asking for more!
It was love at first sight for Kai, or almost, even back then when both didn’t know what love
is. Their bond and friendship is unique, strong, beautiful.
Silas was a lanky lad in ripped jeans and an Offspring T-Shirt… and in his hands was a thick
branch. That day he met Kai and that was it. With a nightmare of a childhood but with Kai’s
unconditional friendship and support he got to the present… living his wildest dream,
together with his friend. They are making music! Their background so fundamental to who
they are now. To what they are and mean to each other.
Oh, the angst in this book… How can Silas be so oblivious when the truth is just in front of
him? In the lyrics! This book made me happy and sad and angry. The other members of the
band always there. Their security guys. Kai’s family (#goals).
“Green Light” is book 2 in the Caffeine Daydreams series. It can be read as a standalone but I
suggest you pick up book 1 (if you haven’t read it yet) first. So you can dive into the
phenomenal magic writing of Lark Taylor… and get ready for book 3, Jack and Arlo’s story.
I devoured the book in two days. Loved it! And I don’t think that any words of mine can do
justice…
“Like I’m drowning and flying. A contradiction of living and dying”
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2024I don't read a ton of contemporary romance, but I love Lark Taylor's PNR and this trilogy is set in the same universe.
From rags to riches, the members of Caffeine Daydreams all came from difficult childhoods before being launched into stardom; the book jumps around a little between various time periods, with Kai hopelessly in love with his straight(?) best friend Silas. The two go through a lot of angst before finally coming together as a couple, and the tension is fantastically written, but if the "they could've solved everything by just talking to each other" trope isn't your cup of tea, you may not enjoy this one.
Joel Leslie is, as always, an absolute phenomenon. David George was new to me, and did a solid job in the dual narration, though some of his chapters sounded a little rushed. Still 100% worth the listen, and excitedly awaiting more Lark Taylor audiobooks!

5.0 out of 5 stars LONGING
Omg. Longing. ALL THE LONGING. ugh this book was just SO good. Really. I mean Kai went about stuff in WAY the wrong way and I wanted to reach into the book and slap him upside the head a few times BUT after pining for someone for like 20 years I can't really blame him for not being able to see clearly.
Silas is just so freaking cute. The oblivious but happy golden retriever puppy character. My Heart broke for him a couple times.
It was so worth it to see the journey these 2 went on and how they worked everything out and found happiness.
This is one of those books that leaves you with that warm fuzzy feeling because everything worked out exactly as you wanted it to. 🥰

5.0 out of 5 stars Favourite new author
Lark Taylor has quickly become one of my must-read authors. And this book is another little gem. I loved Kai and Silas. Watching them work out their feelings was intense but so worth it in the end. And the ending has a great soppy scene that was so sweet and just so right for this couple.
I would recommend reading this series in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing
This was so beautiful. The second book of the series and it didn't disappoint.
I laughed, sobbed and cheered.
Loving every book this author writes and cannot wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars friends to lovers ...with all the feels
this review is rather about my feelings than about what the actual story is about - I mean... you can read the blurb for that, right?
so...book 2 of the Caffeine Daydreams series
"green light" gave me all the feels
...like literally... ALL
it made me angry and sad and happy and angsty
and I loved it all!
the story of Silas and Kai is way more than expected it to be.
to be honest - when I read book 1 I was kinda curious about Si and Kai but not exactly excited.
and what did Lark Taylor do? completely surprised me about how intense this story is
I started the book on one day and finished it on the next.
"green light" is the story of Silas and Kai - two members of the crazy famous band "Caffeine Daydreams".
they are childhood best friends and living their dream together being in a band.
everything seems perfect - but, as often, nothing is.
You don't actually need to read book 1 to understand the story but knowing the main characters from the first book makes the read way mire enjoyable I think
(and let's be honest here - you can't go wrong with any of Lark Taylor's books)

5.0 out of 5 stars Another smash hit from Lark Taylor
So I stayed up past 1am to finish this read... despite the fact I started work at 8am the next morning. Now doing this review in my lunch break so I actually got sleep last night!!
We got teased (iykyk) about kai and silas in the first book in this series, which was also a phenomenal read.
What I think I loved most about this book is the build-up of their relationship from the first moment they met. Through Kai's realisation that he liked men or specifically one man, to then Silas realising that he did not want to be in the friend zone and best friends don't do that, bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was sooo god darn sweet but also so heart breaking because they were so in love but so scared to lose each other.
This book will be living rent-free in my head for a while
5☆☆☆☆☆
Definitely recommend this series and am looking forward to book 3 in the series and maybe some side character spin offs ??? 👀👀👀
