Group Fifteen Files - Volume 1 Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,856 ratings

Mark Dawson’s Group Fifteen Files. Quick, lightning-paced, action from the first page to the last. The first three stories in a convenient anthology edition.

Book 1: Scorpion

They call him 'Scorpion.' No-one knows his real name and the only people who have seen his face are dead. He works for the highest bidder, and he’s never missed a target.

The assassin appears in London with the name of an investigative reporter on his list. But has Scorpion met his match? The reporter has a protector - John Milton. And Milton might be the only man in the world more dangerous than him.

Book 2: Witness X

Bryan Duffy is Witness X - a government agent implicated in a national scandal and banished to Spain until the agenda can be moved on.

But when North Korean hitmen attack a seeming innocent on the streets of London, Duffy is called back to the fold. He is tasked with finding the woman's assailants and bringing them to justice.

Why has the woman been attacked? Duffy investigates, and finds himself sucked into a whirlwind of action and mayhem that is particularly well suited to his special set of skills...

Book 3: Little Sister

Bjorn Thorsson joined the Special Air Service to forget the horrors of his childhood. He killed for Queen and country, and he was good at it.

He quits the army and settles down, looking for a quieter life. When his beautiful sister Gudrun finds herself in trouble with the owner of a hedge fund, Bjorn promises to get her out of danger. But there’s another factor in play. Group 15, a clandestine government agency, has plans for the financier, and Bjorn is in their way.

Bjorn must outwit the Group in the streets of London and in the Highlands of Scotland if he is to protect his sister and survive.

Really an excellent read. I’ve read all of the Milton series to date and enjoy that series very much. I found these short novellas very engaging and very well written. Great character development, quickly, in few words and really painting a strong 3 dimensional portrait and pulling me into the fast action stories. Very nice work Mr. Dawson.

I am trying to get up to date on the books about John Milton. Now I finally have the time for the "Group Fifteen Files" Scorpion is the first and it's a sort of prequel to the John Milton series. I have been a fan of Mark Dawson since I first got my paws on the adventures of ex assassin Milton. They are fantastic and different from many in the genre. There is a great flow in Dawsons writing and since you never know where the next book is set. You get to travel with his characters. Highly recommended.
Witness X is the second book in the Groupp Fifteen Files by Mark Dawson. This time the main character is Bryan Duffy who will appear in other books such as the series about Beatrix Rose. It is interesting reading about this group because they are always in the background in the John Milton series. If you like me is a series lover then you have your work cut out for you. Start reading all the series related to Group Fifteen, such as: Beatrix Rose, Isabella Rose, John Milton and this Group fifteen Files. Then you have over 30 books to enjoy.
Little Sister introduces Bjorn Thorsson who will later in life hunt John Milton on order of the new "Control" This is another great adventure by Mark Dawson. This time we get to know Bjorn who is teaching nordic languages in England when suddenly his sister is in deep trouble. Is her boyfriend a murderer or not? The entire Group Fifteen Files series can be seen as a prequel to the other series about Milton and the 2 Roses. Highly recommended.

MarK Dawson’s Group 15 Novellas was an excellent introduction to ‘Group 15’, but it introduced us to more of Mr. Dawson’s characters and backstory in the three short reads.

Mr. Dawson’s masterful story telling, eye for detail, and creative plot twists and turns will have you turning pages faster in order to ‘see what happens next’.

I am not a big fan of the short story/Novella normally, but these trio of stories can almost seem like a full novel. If you haven’t read any of Mark Dawson’s books, then is a great read to start off with.

    Enjoy…

I didn’t review Isabella Rose’s last two novels by Mark Dawson until now. They were enjoyable but a bit over the top. The group fifteen files was a first read for me and were predictable fast reads . Pope, Milton and a brief hint of Beatrix were included. Please keep writing Mark. Dr. C. 🎉🎊👍🥂

Group 15 is where John Milton got his start before betrayal and loss started his new career. Although not all of the stories involve Milton, they are tales of Group 15.

    Scorpion

Scorpion has been hired to kill an ex-war journalist. Can Milton catch him before Scorpion finds his prey?

    Witness X

Number Twelve, Duffy, is called in on a particularly delicate assignment. Find the person who is selling military secrets and stop the secrets from falling into the wrong hands.

Control sends Number Two (Beatrix Rose in Group 15) to completely clean up.

What exactly is Control up to?

    Little Sister

A hedge fund manager makes a terrible mistake.

The man who takes care of the mistake gets a new job.

    A new Control here.

This is a great anthology where the characters herein are peripheral to other, more important characters in other books. These stories are fill-in-the-gap to the others.

Adds a lot of flavor to the Group 15 world.

I read this through my Kindle Unlimited membership.

If you haven't begun reading Mark Dawson - you need to try him. He's a great author and writes very believable characters who go through plenty of hurdles. Mark is a noted author and also is well known for giving back to other aspiring authors. He's quite modest about all of this and won't brag about anything. However, he has the qualities of a great writer and a fine human being. Once you start reading his books - you won't want to stop.

The last novel was stupid. The first two were readable but not great: Not his best by a long shot.

The group fifteen files was everything that I expected. Just like the John Milton series they keep you on edge until the very end. I love the way you think you know which way the story is going and then it takes you somewhere else. Great reading.

I enjoyed all three stories. Fast paced, plenty of action from the word go, and good dialogue. Some good spin offs from and Milton series and with some new characters who are (dare I say it?) better than the "Rose" series.
