Jase Hewitt never imagined he’d have a shot at bedding the larger than life rock star - never mind dominating him - but now he’s worried he’s in over his head. Jordan’s kinks run deep, dark, and sometimes dangerous, putting Jase’s desires to both pleasure and protect him at odds.
They might have a fighting chance at finding the safe, happy medium between what Jordan needs and what Jase is willing to give, but there’s one problem: Daniel, Jordan’s childhood best friend, the band’s talented guitarist — and a volatile, hard-partying drug addict. Jordan is determined to save Daniel from himself, but Jase has been there, done that, and desperately wants to protect Jordan from the inevitable heartache of watching an addict self-destruct.
When Daniel goes off the rails again, Jordan calls off the tour to get him help. Tension within the band skyrockets and pressure from the record label sends Jordan into a dark spiral. Now his band — and his life — are balanced on a knife's edge, and Jase is the only one who can pull him back... but only if the echoes of his own tragic past don't push him over first.

About the authors
Two-time EPIC Award winner Cat Grant lives by the ocean in beautiful Monterey, California with one persnickety feline and way too many books and DVDs. You can usually find her listening to Dan Savage's podcast, hiding behind her couch while The Walking Dead's on, or - most likely - writing while listening (and singing along - badly!) to Verdi or Wagner on her earbuds.
Contemporaries get her creative juices flowing - featuring alpha male Marines and Navy SEALs, MMA fighters, hot musicians (rock stars and classical violinists), a transgender dominatrix (in BREAKING FREE, winner of the 2014 Rainbow Award for LGBT erotica), and a six-book series spanning thirty years, two generations and three genres (menage, m/m and new adult).
She's currently about to release the second book in her Courtlands: The Next Generation series, titled, RITES OF PASSAGE.
Coming later this year/early next year: another Bannon's Gym novel (more hot MMA fighters!) and a possible departure from my strict diet of contemporaries - a journey across a future dystopian/post-apocalyptic America featuring an interracial lead couple (one of whom is military). Expect some Walking Dead-type riffs, though I'm not sure if I'll add zombies to the mix. Humans beings are a lot scarier.

L.A. Witt is a romance and suspense author who has at last given up the exciting nomadic lifestyle of the military spouse (read: her husband finally retired). She now resides in Pittsburgh, where the potholes are determined to eat her car and her cats are endlessly taunted by a disrespectful squirrel named Moose. In her spare time, she can be found painting in her art room or destroying her voice at a Pittsburgh Penguins game.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2014As a fan of rockstar stories I was immediately drawn to this story and the intensity of the emotions on display. The glitz and glamour, as well as the loneliness and stress, of the music world is vividly depicted in ways that don't always end happily but keep reality just a breath away. The characters weren't always perfect but they made you feel and put you through the emotional wringer to the very end.
The authors dealt with real issues of addiction in its many forms along with self-injurious individuals and their needs to feel anything, no matter how close to danger they tread. Lead singer Jordan always wanted fame but he finds it a lonely place where no one can be trusted until bodyguard Jase enters the picture. Jordan enjoys walking on the wild side of sexuality as a form of escape as he always feels as though everyone wants something from him. Jase is the one person who wants Jordan for himself, he just wants to keep him safe and help him express his pain in a safer way though. The two of them are scorching together in numerous m/m sexual encounters, but guitarist Daniel's constantly on the fringe of their relationship keeping them from fully committing because of his jealousy. Daniel is the face of addiction and the authors actually found a way to make him sympathetic towards the end as until that moment his addiction was toxic to everyone around him.
This was an intense read from start to finish. Intense BDSM play was woven perfectly throughout the story and showed why individuals are drawn to it as a form of mental escape as this reader became fully immersed in these erotically charged scenes. The characters are compelling with deep seated issues and scenes that left me a bit teary-eyed at times too. Ms. Grant and Ms. Witt are at the top of their game in this story and I look forward to what they create together next!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2017I liked the storyline. Jase and Jordan were both likeable characters with strengths and flaws. I also appreciated the realism shown in Daniel's character and his struggles with addiction.
My one complaint is that there are no distinctive character voices. Every character speaks and thinks the same. Because both of the MCs' names begin with a J and the POV changed frequently, it was easy to lose track of whose POV i was reading. A few times, I had to stop and look back to see who was speaking. Characters should be distinguishable by more than just the name at the beginning of a chapter. Other than that, this was a good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2015OMG! This is one of the best rock star books I have read. This story is quite a bit different than the other rock and roll books out. I loved this book. It is quite dark, and it doesn't let up. It is a very real kind of story, where from the outside it appears all is great, but from the inside it is not. You spend a lot of time hoping for the best, and you pray they all come though it ok. This one is a bit of a tearjerker, but the story telling is fantastic.
Jordan Kane has it all. He is a part on No Rules, a mega famous band on tour, doing shows for 20,000 fans a night. He has his best friend in his band, and a super sexy bodyguard. All should be well, but it is not.
Jase Hewitt is Jordan's bodyguard. He used to be in a band, but now he is protecting a man he has wanted for a long time. Jase was into the BDSM scene, and he had heard that Jordan was kinky.
The tour was going well, but Jordan's childhood friend was going off the rails again. Daniel was doing drugs and it was out of control. After one very long night, Jordan was about to make out with Jase when he got the call that Daniel had slipped out. Jase finds him high and brings him home, and Jordan is fried. He needs Jase to indulge in his kink of breath play. Jase does, but as a Dom himself, he knows how dangerous that is. They begin a sexual relationship that is more take than give, but it works for Jordan. He is burned out from watching Daniel destroy his life. Daniel and Jordan have a long history and they do love each other. They crossed a line a while back and nothing has been the same. Jase is concerned because he lost a boyfriend to overdose and sees the same thing happening with Daniel. He isn't sure he can take another one. Their relationship and the band struggles with Daniel's setbacks, and eventually the band has to get Daniel help. When things go very bad, Jase and Jordan might not be able to work through their pasts and demons. But they do need each other to be whole again.
This book deals with some very tough situations like drug use, breath play, and suicide which may not be suitable for everyone. I loved the book, but this is no fairytale, kleenex is definitely needed. This is a very powerful story and I loved it. I cannot wait to read more from these authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book
Wow. Beautiful and tortured story. So well told. You will definitely have a good cry reading this book. It's sexy and sensual too, without being salacious. Loved it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Read this book.
This book will keep you reading until the last full stop. You will laugh, cry, feel joy and anger. There is a lot of graphic male to male sex but as it is entwined within the story it will not disgust you. This is a book that should make you sit up and take stock on your own life and priorities. Read it. When I finished the book I went onto Amazon to see what else had been written by these 2 authors, Cat Grand and LA Witt.
