    I started reading and soon felt like I was missing information. I thought this was a stand-alone book but the main character Amara, kept mentioning names of people and circumstances that I was unaware of.
    Amara didn't know who her parents were and therefore didn't know who she born to be. When four strange men came to tell her she was needed she wasn't sure whether to believe them or not, until an attack happened to prove they were telling the truth.
    The story is fast moving. The relationship part of the story was good. I just wanted more closure on some of the things that were mentioned such as what really happened to some of the missing people.
    In my opinion the story needed a little bit more work. I realized after some investigating that there were four previous books in this world. It would have helped if it was numbered as part of a series so people wouldn't feel lost like I was.

    Certainly can't complain nothing happens in this story. Amara lived with her Aunt, she didn't know how it came about, only that her parents are dead. She is a dragon, but cannot fly, she dosn't know why that is either. Feeling restless she speaks to her aunt about moving out on her own for a while, surprised when she not only agrees, but knows of a cabin she can use, but there's a small human town close by, so she cant show she's a dragon, no problem. There is also another dragon in the cabin next door and they become friends. It was peaceful, it was nice, until she had 4 visitors from a settlement they said was her home. Then life got very interesting for Amara

    A strong story that binds together four stranger's into a fighting force, but also lover's that make you wish you had them for yourself. I would have liked to know more of their history. I really would have to know how a bird became a shifter. I got the impression it was a kind of a reward for doing a kind act. I also can't help thinking we maybe getting David's story soon. Hope I'm right.
