About the author

Rose Reynolds (TJ Reynolds pen name) grew up catching lizards and dreaming of dragons in flight. She joined the Army Infantry at 18, spent some time in the sand. In between conducting raids and combat patrols in the city of Mosul, Rose played Gears of War and Halo, keeping her love of gaming alive. Rose earned degrees in English before spending a few years teaching as an adjunct professor.
By a miracle of Fate, luck, and force of will, she now writes Fantasy books for a living, focusing on Progression Fantasy and LitRPG. Her best known work is First Fist: Seventh Bridge to the Heavens, under the pen name TJ Reynolds. Book 2 in the series is due for publication Spring 24. A new Progression Fantasy novel is on the horizon: The Heroes, Monk and Mage, scheduled for Fall 2024.
Perhaps her greatest accomplishment yet, however, has been learning to survive as a transgender woman. Reclaiming her mind, soul, and body, she’s never felt more herself. Joyous though this change has been, the social and financial cost of transition are devastating. Send the trans folks you interact with a bit of kindness and grace: many of us are barely hanging on.
For updates on books, or if you’ve a mind to chat about anime, JRPGs, or the solemn duty of raising otaku children, reach out to Rose on Facebook or Discord, and remember to follow her pen name TJ Reynolds on Amazon.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2021If you read Book 1 then you know this series is Dungeon Core meets Cultivation. Why wouldn't you know this since this is book 2? To start here would be insane. Go back and read Book 1 first.
Now that I got that out of the way I can get to my vague descriptions of the plot that will not do this fine work justice. This series is all about the characters. So often when a book goes for multiple POVs it will miss the mark. Characters will either be too similar or not intriguing enough to warrant their own perspective. This series does not miss the mark here. We have a sentient dungeon, a monk, and a half-dragon all with their own individual goals in addition to those of the group. There are no down chapters. Each character moves along the narrative in their own unique way.
The story itself is well written and paced. The prose is not flowery, but it is elegant enough that it sets itself apart from other books in both Dungeon Core and Cultivation. While there are overarching elements throughout the series, the story for book 2 is its own self-contained arc. There is a sense of finality when it is over with a little something to whet your appetite for Book 3. In the end, we are left with a meaty read that is well worth the time.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2024Very enjoyable read. This book was difficult to put down, due to how good the world and character building was. I did find a few errors in this second book, therefore it was given four stars. Looking forward to more adventures from the Guild Core.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2021I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It took me on a grand adventure filled with struggle, victory, and improvement. I am definitely excited for the next book in this series even though I have to wait....

- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2020Enjoyed the book, only downside for me personally is the progression seems a bit slow. Maybe in other books of the genre characters progressed so fast and there are stats every where it was a bit disconcerting. Outside of that, stories good, characters are interesting, everything you need
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2024Of course the most evil is a human. Kai, ban and Rhoda go through a lot of changes and growing. They find a home for Ban and also a couple of surprises along the way. Not a dull moment.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2022A great book from the wonderful imagination of a fantastic author and I'm greatly looking forward to the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2020The characters and plot grow quickly in this book in order to match the enemies coming their way. New places and people add complexity and color to the story, making that growth all the more meaningful. Our little guild is becoming something... more.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it, it’s game lit light.
As the headline says it’s light on the character spreadsheet which I’m a fan of. And unliked most novels in this genre he doesn’t give the m.c thousands of quickly forgotten abilities. Also the lead isn’t a super hardcore incel op wet dream so I appreciate that. Now for the downside there are effectively 3 leads so there will be significant time spent away from the mc and I did notice that there were a couple of minor errors here and there, but it wasn’t a deal breaker.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not up to the standard of book 1
The second book in the series, imo did not not live up to the predecessor. Too many issues that hold back the story. The biggest of them : Rhona.
She does her own thing with the army, having an existential crisis, finding new friends and playing the conflicted hero. In the end nothing really came from that, except her losing the few characteristics that made her enjoyable in book 1. The teased relationship between the two Mcs made no progress whatsoever - Rhona deliberately ignoring Kais feelings.
The leveling aspect seems random as well, since apparently characters can shoot through 3 levels in the span of 2 days if the author feels like it. Once again Rhona.
And lastly the final fight was rather anticlimactic. The villain taken out way too unspectacular and Kai fighting some random monster. To me it feels like Rhona is simply there as the author wanted the „strong female role“ to be there.
