It was just another day in the life of being a small town cop.

I’m a protector at heart, and always have been.

Which is why I stepped up immediately after finding out I had a kid.

Well…to be honest, I didn’t believe it at first.

I actually thought it was a prank when the little girl was brought into the station.

It took a paternity test for me to really feel the gravity of the situation.

Fine, I didn’t handle it well at all.

But when I had proof Emily was really mine, nothing would stand in the way of me protecting her.

I may have gone a little overboard.

At least, that’s what my sexy neighbor thinks.

But what does she know? She let my kid drink out of a garden hose!

Sure, I did it as a kid, but I’m bald now. What if drinking out of a hose at such a young age ruined my chances of having a decent head of hair?

Am I really supposed to allow my child to be put in danger like that?

But the more I hang around with Katka, the harder I find it to ignore the logic in what she’s saying.

Maybe it’s the late night dancing she performs for me.

Or her crazy family that thinks I’m not good enough.

Whatever it is about her, it drives me to the edge.

All I think about is her.

All I want is her.

But she doesn’t want a kid.

Despite the passion building between us, I’m not the man she’s looking for.

I’ll just have to find a way to prove I’m exactly what she needs.

    Where to begin on this one. When you find out you are a parent and you are clueless. When you have a hot neighbor you can't get out of your mind. When something goes wrong and you feel you have to make it right even if it's a candy bar that gets the job done. When your mom tells you to be a good person and check on a friend. When you wake up and can't remember a thing. Your only thought is what a roll coaster. What does this all mean. This is a 5 staR read and I highly recommend this book.     Lucas +Katka. This was a really good story but it took so long to get to the attention grabbing action that I almost quit reading the book. About mid way through it started to come alive. From that point on it was full on action. I loved that Katka's mom was really loving Lucas' muscled legs and butt. The whole jail story line was genious. Proving innocent should be so easy in such a complicated case. Then the prisons wouldn't have as many innocent prisoners as they do have. Great story. I'll be watching for more of her work to read.

    Lucas finds out he has a two year old daughter. His whole lifestyle has to change but he falls in love with his little girl so he gets on with his new life. He moves to a new house and discovers he has a hot neighbor. Katka is a strong, stubborn woman. She comes from a large family, her parents are Slovakian immigrants. She does not want marriage or children but she is strongly attracted to Lucas. Mistakes are made by both parties. Katka's father is not impressed with Lucas even though he's a respected cop. But he's not catholic, has a child out of wedlock and, to top it off he has tattoos! This book, like every book I've read by Guila, made me laugh out loud. You don't need to read the other books in this series but don't deny yourself the reading pleasure.

    This is the final book in this series and what a way to finish! I’ll miss this small town, where I’ve come to know and love the characters, their quirky ways, and fun times. We’ve read about Jake (Plaid Man) and Elle—Katka is Elle’s sister so you already know the fun that’s bound to occur for Sunday lunch. Katka is a fun-loving free spirit who lives in the moment. She’s neighbours with officer Lucas, who finds himself permanently in charge of toddler Emily. Emily brings out a crazy, protective nature in Lucas, while Katka is pretty laid back. There’s this attraction between them that’s hard to pursue because Emily highlights the differences between them. Thinking about being a parent is pretty serious stuff, so there’s just a bit of angst in here. I loved Katka’s parents, Oci & Mama Tomáš—still lots of fun but not as over the top this time around; and visiting all the characters in town. I’ll miss Antonio. I enjoyed the plot, which had some suspenseful parts amongst the banter of old friends. Solid series.

I don't think I have ever laughed out loud so much at so many books. While being fiercely intense about the ones they love they still have a great story to tell in each book. Be sure you follow the authors instructions to read each book in order. I promise you that you will get so much more out of them if you do. I'm onto her next series now!

Plenty of humour and banter from them if honest if I had to pick a favourite it would be Mason and Jo , even with Mason being pretty nasty to Jo at times and leaving their book with them not together, I was desperate for information about them . That said the other books were far behind .
