Run Away Kindle Edition
You've lost your daughter. She's addicted to drugs and to an abusive boyfriend. And she's made it clear that she doesn't want to be found.
Then, by chance, you see her playing guitar in Central Park. But she's not the girl you remember. This woman is living on the edge, frightened, and clearly in trouble.
You don't stop to think. You approach her, beg her to come home.
She runs. And you do the only thing a parent can do: you follow her into a dark and dangerous world you never knew existed. Before you know it, both your family and your life are on the line. And in order to protect your daughter from the evils of that world, you must face them head on.

Review
"Brilliantly executed...might be the best book Harlan Coben has ever written. For such a master storyteller, that's a high bar indeed but one Coben effortlessly crests...[Run Away] features an effortlessness and fluidity that define everything great storytelling should be. A fantastic read and early contender for the best thriller of 2019."―Providence Sunday Journal
"Harlan Coben is a master at taking what seems to be an ordinary family and exposing the facade and secrets that are buried just below the surface. About the author

With over 80 million books in print worldwide, Harlan Coben is the #1 New York Times author of thirty five novels including WIN, THE BOY FROM THE WOODS, RUN AWAY, FOOL ME ONCE, TELL NO ONE and the renowned Myron Bolitar series. His books are published in 46 languages around the globe.
Harlan is the creator and executive producer of several Netflix television dramas including FOOL ME ONCE, STAY CLOSE, THE STRANGER, SAFE, THE FIVE, THE INNOCENT and THE WOODS. He is also the creator and executive producer of the Prime Video series Harlan Coben’s SHELTER, based on his young adult books featuring Mickey Bolitar. Harlan was the showrunner and executive producer for two French TV mini-series, UNE CHANCE DE TROP (NO SECOND CHANCE) and JUST UN REGARD (JUST ONE LOOK). KEINE ZWEIT CHANCE, also based on Harlan’s novel, aired in Germany on Sat1.
Harlan’s novel TELL NO ONE (NE LE DIS A PERSONNE) was turned into the renowned French film, directed by Guillaume Canet and starring Francois Cluzet. The movie was the top box office foreign-language film of the year in the USA, won the Lumiere (French Golden Globe) for best picture and was nominated for nine Cesars (French Oscar) and won four, including best actor, best director and best music.
Winner of the Edgar Award, Shamus Award and Anthony Award – the first author to win all three – international bestselling author Harlan Coben’s critically-acclaimed novels have been called “ingenious” (New York Times), “poignant and insightful” (Los Angeles Times), “consistently entertaining” (Houston Chronicle), “superb” (Chicago Tribune) and “must reading” (Philadelphia Inquirer).
In his first books, Coben immersed himself in the exploits of sports agent Myron Bolitar. Critics loved the series, saying, “You race to turn pages…both suspenseful and often surprisingly funny” (People). After seven books Coben wanted to try something different. “I came up with a great idea that simply would not work for Myron,” says Coben. The result was the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller TELL NO ONE, which became the most decorated thriller of the year. Two books later, Bookspan, recognizing Coben’s broad international appeal, named NO SECOND CHANCE its first ever International Book of the Month in 2003 – the Main Selection in 15 different countries.
Harlan was the first writer in more than a decade to be invited to write fiction for the NEW YORK TIMES op-ed page. His Father’s Day short story, THE KEY TO MY FATHER, appeared June 15, 2003. His essays and columns have appeared in many top publications including the New York Times, Parade Magazine and Bloomberg Views.
Harlan has received an eclectic variety of honors from all over the world. In Paris, he was awarded the prestigious Vermeil Medal of Honor for contributions to culture and society by the Mayor of Paris. He has won the El Premio del Novela Negra RBA in Spain, the Grand Prix de Lectrices in France, and the CWA/ITV3 Bestseller Dagger for favorite crime novelist in England. On the other end of the spectrum, Little League Baseball inducted Harlan into their Hall of Excellence in 2013, and Harlan is also a member of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame from his playing days at Amherst College.
Harlan was born in Newark, New Jersey. He still lives in New Jersey with his wife, Anne Armstrong-Coben MD, a pediatrician, and their four children.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2019I won’t bury the lead. This book is great. If you like Coben, you’ll enjoy it. If you like mysteries, you’ll enjoy it if you like good fiction in general, you’ll enjoy it. Good plot, great banter, interesting mystery, likeable and genuine characters. To recap: this is a very entertaining read and you won’t be disappointed if you buy it, which you should do immediately. Feel free to stop reading here unless the 5% of lackluster reviews are making you hesitant. If so, read on.
In regarded to the one and two star reviews: ignore them.
Granted, this may not be a book you’ll want to read 100 times ( are there people who do that with mysteries? Not shaming, just don’t get it). The good news is; you don’t have to because Coben consistently writes a new book every single year, unlike some of the other greats. Gillian Flynn, I’m looking at you (but in a constructive criticism kind of way). He is like the Cal Ripken of crime fiction ( Dear Mr. Coben, please feel free to use that as your new motto.).
And, yeah, I don’t think this is his best ever. It’s still better than 97% of any crime/thriller book published this year.
You may not like the politics of some of the characters but they are referenced in only about three sentences in the entirety of the book. And this is FICTION. The really mild comments that some readers objected to are made by a make believe person cuz, again: fiction.
MOST IMPRTANTLY: Harlan Coben books are always fun and exciting and money well spent.
To put it another way, I read about 450 books a year ( not as weird as it sounds), most of them mysteries. I am a devoted fan of the biggies: Tana French, Nicci French, Michael Robotham, Kate Atkinson, Denise Mina, Jeffery Deaver, Lisa Unger, Laura Lippman and so on. Even so, each of them have written at least one book that left me disapointed. In 20 years of reading Coben’s every word, I have never been anything but delighted. He is the ONLY author I automatically pre-order because he always delivers.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2025The ending makes this book the best of all his books - this 1 definitely needs to be a movie. H Coben makes all his characters so likeable sometimes even the villains lol. This story starts off as parents trying to rescue their drug addict daughter but it is so much more and every time you think you know the whole story there is more. Next time someone asks me to recommend a book this will be the 1st - This def an H.C. - GEM
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2019This is a great plot that keeps you reading all night as you expect from this author. No spoilers here. :) I love his play on words with 'Tattoos While U Wait' and "BBG Investments". Always reminds me of MB SportsRep and Myron's jokes about the name (from the Myron Bolitar series). Laszlo (the author's dog in real life) makes an appearance, which totally made my day! Loved it. (See the author's Insta for pics of Laszlo, he's adorable.)
Why only 3 stars? The cons:
In his latest novels Harlan Coben has started using the 'f' word. Yes, I'm a prude and painfully old fashioned and hopelessly out of touch with how today's adults really speak, yada yada yada. But I get to voice my opinion just like those of you who don't mind it.
My big grief is that because of the use of this word, I can't pass this book on to my friends or recommend it. One of my great joys in life is lending my signed copy of "Tell No One' to friends and watching them groggy eyed trying to function through the next day cause, yes, they stayed up all night finishing it.
For me and others who have small children around or just have some class, we don't allow this word in our vocabulary and don't want to read it either. So pigs really do fly - I've given a Harlan Coben book less than 5 stars. :'(
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2019I liked this book immensely, and have already recommended it to several of my friends. The story centers around Simon, a father who is trying to rescue his drug addicted 21-year-old daughter from a prison of her own making. Then (as his life intersects with other plot lines) he stumbles across a series of violent deaths connected to his child in strange ways. Normally, I dislike books that use family tragedies such as drub abuse, mental illness, violence, Alzheimer's etc as the vehicle to propel a plot driven story forward. But this is not one of those books. While fairly plot-driven, yes, this book is also character driven in enough ways to satisfy readers like me. Also, the author clearly & intimately knows, either through personal history or through a close friend, the soul-wrenching experience of loving a drug-addicted family member. The thoughts, reflections, responses, rage and fear of Simon, the father/protagonist of the story, are real in a way that some readers will find searing. I know I did. The mystery/thriller is good, pretty solid; but it is Simon - who he is, what drives him, his refusal to give up - that really make the story. It is also the quick, but intense sketches of Paige (mostly filtered through Simon's heart and conversations) that help this book come alive. My only tiny quibble is that the family dealing with this is pretty wealthy. They have access to huge amounts of cash, enviable connections, time from work, etc. It would have been interesting to see Simon as a regular person with almost nothing in the bank, no connections to DNA labs or first rate attorneys helping him face what he must face. Still, Coben did a great job. I could barely put the book down, spent quit a bit of time reading this book with an ache in my heart and a giant lump in my throat. And in the end, I cried. Really cried. The author gets it.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2025From the start, book jumps right in and provides roller coaster story
Really enjoyed it as all Coben books have been

4.0 out of 5 stars Intrincados problemas
Harlan Coben nos ha acostumbrado a historias llenas de suspenso con intrincados giros de tuerca. Esta no es la excepción. Te mantiene emocionado de principio a fin y guarda infinidad de sorpresas, algunas terribles para la familia protagonista.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!!
I can't think of a Harlan Coben book that I haven't enjoyed, and this one was a great read for me. I order my books well in advance of release day so by the time they pop up in my Kindle when they are released, I can't recall what the plot is about so I'm going in blind from page one. I found this story to be quite a page-turner right from the start. I stayed up way too late for several nights reading it. If you like reading Harlan Coben books, then you will likely enjoy this one too.

5.0 out of 5 stars intricate and good
as usual, Harlan Coben manages to keep me glued to each book and with a great ending.
I find it really good and it was sad finishing it - however i look forward for the next thrilling and exciting story as only he can deliver!
Good story
