Here Without You: Cooper's Ridge Book 2 (Cooper's Ridge Series 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 114 ratings

This book has previously been released in 2017. It has been re-edited and extended, but the story hasn't changed.
Archer Hawkins and Mallory Halston literally run into each other and a true love story is born. Archer pursues Mallory with absolute determination making him fall hook, line, and sinker.
“I really would like to get to know you, Mallory.” His voice husky in my ear.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea, I’m sorry.” I’m already kicking myself for turning him down. “That’s okay, I’ll ask again tomorrow, and the day after, I’ll get you to say yes in the end.”

But just when they’re about to get everything they ever hoped tragedy strikes leaving Mal alone and adrift. Putting his past behind him Mal stumbles upon Cooper’s Ridge. Changing his name to Carter, he takes a chance, becoming a bartender at The Last Drop Inn, and embarking on a new life.

Local attorney, Dan Mortimer, has finally found and captured the heart of Cooper’s Ridge’s newest resident, Carter.
“I was coming in to see you, and maybe get you to agree to dinner with me. C’mon Carter it’s only dinner, I’m a nice guy I promise.”

But when Dan’s college friend comes to town to recuperate after a horrible car accident, it seems the most important men in his life may have something to answer for. And just how far will an evil, conniving, homophobic mother with a vendetta go to bring them all down?

This book can be read as a standalone
Here Without You is a gay ménage story with plenty of hot sex and strong language and is therefore suitable for readers aged 18 and over.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

You will normally find JJ in the living room—typing away—with her dog, Siddiqi. As a hopeless romantic, she dives into her stories, always falling in love with her men, making sure they get the happy ever after they deserve, even if they do have to work hard for it.

As a bona fide bookaholic, a wine-drinking and swear-like-a-sailor type of girl, she has yet to work out how to act her age!! LOL. And she has no intentions of growing up or growing old gracefully.

JJ lives in a small, very quiet, village in Lincolnshire, UK, with her husband and dog, and spends all day dreaming up stories full of really hot men.

This is an update to the original story. More content deeper scenes and more detail. Archer and Mallory fall in love. Outside people are not happy and when the opportunity presents itself they take full advantage. Mallory unable to deal with the devastation of his life runs. Landing in Cooper's Ridge was not his plan but became his new home. Dan could see a broken young man. Captivated by Carter's beauty and soulful eyes it became his mission to see him smile. When Archer, Dan's best friend comes to lean on that friendship he finds the man who broke his world in two. Carter aka Mallory has fallen in love with Dan after believing Archer was dead. These two form a love and a forever bond that can't be broken. So much more has been given to the context of this AMAZING story. It's more complete and I'm so happy I have this newer version. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THE COOPER'S RIDGE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!

I'm loving this series so hard, now I can't wait for what's next, I do believe there is one more boo,k I hope so. This one pulls on your heart strings it makes you fall in love, breaks your heart, and then makes you fall in love again.

Although I liked well enough the characters actions and emotions were a bit scattered. Archer especially irked me, why in the world would he take his mother's word about anything and Dan kind of came off as grasping; he just overreacted to the least little thing. All that aside I did enjoy the story.

Be warned, JJ Harper will rip out your heart. The author has a way of letting you -think- everyone is happy and then introducing another issue so that everything is no longer smooth sailing... over and over again.

We were first introduced to Carter at the end of 'Denver's Calling', the first book taking place in Cooper's Ridge. There wasn't much, just a mysterious figure we now wanted to know about.

In this second book of the series, we don't hear much about how the town used to be small-minded. We just have Carter being accepted and the men from the first book show up - a lot - as Kes, Denver, and East are part of his chosen family. We're brought into Carter's life, where he's Kes' pub manager and meets Dan. Though he's still working through whatever broke him, Carter develops a relationship with Dan. It's going well.

Dan loves Carter and is thrilled. He's enjoying life when his first love turned best friend, Archer, comes to visit after surviving and rehabbing from a horrible car accident. Dan is thrilled to introduce Archer to Carter. However, Archer already knows Carter - but as Mallory. And Mallory was told that Archer, his fiance, was dead.

The fabulous life Dan and Carter were living is suddenly turned on it's ear. Everything that was settled is now up in the air again. As with the way in life, things are never as smooth or as calm as they seem. One of the problems is that Carter's self-esteem and trust are still recovering from the gigantic hit they took. It takes time, and they haven't had a lot of it yet.

In all, this book is awesome. It rolls like life, seemingly never-ending, and yet when it was finished, I wanted it to keep going. No lie, there is a TON of steamy situations. But, it's an MMM book and those situations are mega-hot. Definitely not for under 18 readers. These books will both be re-reads for me. Over and over again. Fantastic stories and wonderful storytelling. 4.5 stars

This was the typical gay romance marketes for the mostly brainless heterosexual women.
It has all the overblown overdone cliches that apparently sell books.
If you're looking for something high in gloss, low in character developement and without emotional teeth so to speak, this is for you.

This book takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. Mallory/Carter's is heartbroken thanks to his homophobic parents. But sexy lawyer Archer comes into his life bringing back love, laughter, and happiness. But tragedy hits and Carter's life is back to being full of darkness. His pain and wandering takes him to Cooper's Ridge where hes able to find solace and learn to overcome the hits life has given him. And he also finds Dan who is so patient and understanding, handling Carter's heart so tenderly. They are so sweet together and things are going great for Carter. Then...boom...we're hit with a huge plot twist and things just became more complicated in the best way possible (well to me, lol). Carter's past comes to haunt him in the most unexpected way. I loved that it is not instant fix even though the MCs found a solution to their predictament quickly. The MCs go through doubt, jealousy, confusion, and pain before finding their HEA. Carter's journey to a HEA was not easy, full of ups and downs but his heart is able to heal from all the pain he had suffered. This story made my heart feel so many emotions...made me cry, mad and want to kill people (well just one person in particular), shock, and happiness. I really enjoyed and loved the journey. And got to say that I love that the evil hateful person got their just deserts.

This book has all kinds of feels! I laughed and I cried. I cried both happy and sad tears. Poor Mallory/Carter and Archer both. Those two go through so much but especially Carter. He loses family, finds love, and then loses it all over again. When he starts going by Carter, he tries to leave his past as Mallory behind. When he moves to Cooper’s Ridge, he is starting over, trying to love his life as best he can. He makes new friends and finds a new love in Dan. When the two lives come crashing together again, he has to figure out which person he really is. As Dan, Archer, and Carter try to move forward with their lives, they have to work to make it as a triad. This is a beautiful and moving story. They figure out how to persevere and make a life together.

MMM, Ménage, Hurt/Comfort, Romance. Wow, what a journey the main characters of the story have to go on to get their HEA. An easy to read page-turner with twists and turns, steamy and emotional, a definite tear jerker. Fantastic plot with great characters, a fantastic read from start to finish.
