About the author

Hi there! I'm Anne Underhill, a rhyming picture book author and illustrator from the UK. Instead of listing my accomplishments and qualifications, I’d love to tell you a bit about the heart and soul of my work.
I write and illustrate stories that bring joy to both kids and their parents. My two wonderful children serve as my primary critics, ensuring each tale resonates with authenticity and fun. My books capture the everyday adventures and misadventures of family life—whether it's the chaos of a tantrum, the trials of a grocery run, or the magical moments of bedtime stories.
I strive to create engaging and humorous stories that families can enjoy together, sparking smiles and fostering a love for reading. Thank you for sharing in these delightful experiences and for letting my stories be a part of your family’s reading time.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2021Written in fun rhymes, the book is a pleasure to read. The colorful illustrations will bring a smile to your face and diffuse any hair related challenges you may be having with your little one. Buy the book for yourself and relive the days when hair related problems were a real thing for you or purchase the book for your little one because one of the messages in the book is that hair problems can easily be resolved. Have I mentioned that zombies make an appearance in the story! To find out more, I would recommend reading Anne Underhill’s book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2021The story was filled with weird and wonderful comparisons. I found the rhymes mostly delightful, it did however need some tightening up. But I think that any small child would love to read or hear it be read to them.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2021My 6 year old daughter and I read the book this evening! It was such a great read. At one point my daughter (who recently cut her hair short), suddenly shouted "Mom! This book is about me."
I really loved the validation it gave her about cutting her hair. Especially right after starting a new school.
So a huge thank you to the author. We LOVED it.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2021While reading this story, I kept picturing my daughter and two nieces. All curlies who would probably prefer facing monsters than a hairbrush. Very cute story.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2021My 4 year old and I love this hilarious story. We have a similar problem each morning with both the hairbrush and toothbrush so it’s very relatable. The illustrations are fantastic. It’s definitely a wonderful addition to our bookshelf.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2021Short hair don't care!
Some children face a lot of pain while brushing their hair, and parents or the children themselves resist cutting it bcz we love their beautiful hair & wanna keep it long.
But sometimes cutting it makes our children way happier & spare them some painful brushing.
