4.5 out of 5 stars 192 ratings

She's the ex-girlfriend of a rock music superstar. He's a laid-back guitarist searching for his big break. She’s not ready for a new relationship, but sparks fly anyway.

Chrissie Parker is not an ordinary college freshman. A whirlwind spring romance with British superstar Alan Manzone rockets her into a tabloid media frenzy. Love for her father, Jack, sends her home and away from Alan. But some loves prove impossible to leave behind, even at UC Berkeley.

Just when things start getting on track for Chrissie at college, Alan storms back into her world, desperate to reclaim the girl he can’t forget. Chrissie must also contend with Neil Stanton, a guy from her hometown working as a campus janitor who is as irritating and unavoidable as ever.

As Chrissie fights to build her own future, she is caught between the love of a friend and the love of her life.

Caught in Him is a friends-to-lovers contemporary romance featuring a love triangle that's a little dark, a little light, and a lot of angst.

Susan Ward continues to strive as an author. I've been waiting for this book and I am SO happy to read it! What can I say? Once again, I am left speechless by her writing. Susan pulls you in. I am a HUGE fan of Chrissie and Alan. I loved seeing how Chrissie has grown and matured in this second book, learning from her experiences and, in a way, healing.
No doubt her life without Alan in the beginning is heartbreaking. Mostly because I am in love with Alan, and I felt like I was the one who was living without him. Of course, he returns and boy is that hot and intense!
The way Susan writes makes me feel like I am living the story. The emotions ripped through me, as if Chrissie and I were one in the same. No doubt I can relate to Chrissie on a personal level.
What can I say about Neil? If Alan wasn't a part of this story, I'd almost want him for myself. He is perfect in many ways, and I can see how Chrissie and his relationship would bloom so wonderfully. But again, he's no Alan and I'm biased. Chrissie and Neil's friendship is true and honest, and what later leads to more than friends is the same way.
The characters are complex, emotional and perfect in every way. I must say I also enjoyed seeing more of Jack (Please read One Last Kiss series if you haven't! Jack is, well, Jack.) Seeing his relationship with Chrissie is heartwarming and I loved seeing them in a good place, despite the sometimes awkwardness. Then again, who doesn't have awkward moments with their parents.
This book is true, raw and honest. Typical Susan fashion, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I'm ready to dive into The Girl of Diamonds and Rust to see how this ends and loose ends tie up.

Oh my god... this book is sooo much better than the first one ! After book #1 I wanted to kick Alan in the nuts and tell Chrissie to grow a spine. It left me frustated and not sure I wanted to tag along their story anymore... Thank You sweet Jesus !!! for not making me a quitter on my fictional book-friends.... So here we catch Chrissie post-Alan and quickly found myself being TEAM NEIL all the way... I like how she finally began to growup and began to find herself..I have to admit at first I was doubtful of Neil's intentions but as I read along he grew on me... just when I am happy and cheering for the girl and Neil.. BAM he walks in an turns everything upside down....
And know I am Team Alan for a few pages and then Team Neil on the others ... so confusing LOL .... Anyway I am one clicking my way to book #3 and hoping she ends up with the character of my dreams...

This series with Chrissie, I think she bass to stop running... right!??! UGH! I can't stop reading dang it, I want Chrissy to find her happiness. I love Chrissie and Alan together... it makes me crazy she keeps pushing him away.. I understand going to school, but then she stays w Neil for 3 years.. (I still think something is strange w Neil... I like him, but I get a feeling he hides something deep) all these characters just can't seem to be happy together nor can they communicate we'll!! I am soon addicted to these books, I don't know when I will sleep! DAng, Susan Ward can write a killer series!!! I think I will. Need therapy after I am finished tho! Lol

I had loved the first book about this girl living mostly absorbed in her own world, having interesting and intense human relationships, keeping us on edge. This second book went on with her story, and the same intensity kept me following. Now I am looking forward to reading the third book. It took me quite a long time after the first book to find the sequences, but the atmosphere of the story and my interest in this girl's life was vivid in my memory, so I kept on wishing for the chance to go on, which is rare. A very special read.

I still don't get Chrissie, her character has everything to shine but the development of her story is just stuck somehow. She is a weak, indecisive and unsympathetic character. I could understand her immaturity in the first book but after 4 years she still behaves like an immature teenager over and over?! the story gets really boring after a while with all the back and forth and the "i dont know what i want" crap. I still don't understand what holds her back in regards to Allan, and it's beyond me why she won't tell the truth if Allan already knew she was with Neil, gets old pretty quickly with all the arguing and the annoying running away again crap.

I am enjoying this series. Chrissie is trying to figure out her life since she left Alan to go back to school. She is indecisive at times and wonders if she made the right choice.

She is now at college trying to forget about Alan and struggling with it, until she meets Neil again. They begin spending time together as friends and it develops into something more. She is struggling with wanting to be with Neil and at the same time feels her heart belongs to Alan. Which man will she choose?

I think either of these men could make her happy but I know which one I would choose for her.

I am excited to see what happens in the next book.
