Gray There are some things I excel at: - Exercising rigid control over every aspect of my life - Making sensible decisions at every turn - Being organized, predictable and responsible to an abnormal degree In short, I’m boring as hell and in desperate need of a change. Luckily I have my best friend by my side and a newly written to-do list to guide my way through the murky waters of finding happiness. It’s all very promising at first, but as weeks pass, I start to realize that the best part of my day has always been Kai. And when I see him out on a date with some guy? Let’s just say I’m definitely not happy about it. Kai I’m back in Boston after ten years of traveling, and I’ve fulfilled all my goals: - See the world - Figure out what to do with my life - Get over my impossible crush on Gray Check, check and check. Life’s good until I accidentally find Gray’s happy list, which contains some very interesting things that friends never ever do with each other. And as weeks pass, it becomes clear those not-so-innocent parts are the ones Gray is determined to explore with me. In short, I’m screwed because no matter how hard I try, I can’t resist him, and pretty soon I'm forced to admit that I’m not as done with my crush as I thought I was...

The Happy List the funniest male/male romance I have read this year.
5 out of 5 stars
The Happy List the funniest male/male romance I have read this year.
I laughed so hard listening to Gray and Kai’s thoughts. Their inner dialogue makes The Happy List the funniest male/male romance I have read this year. Briar Prescott not only had me in stitches, but by the time Gray and Kai got out of their own way…the steam (it’s got hot in here!). Whew! Prescott definitely made up for the close calls and the “I can’t do this” moments. Humor abounded everywhere. It was awesome. The characters also went through a growth period as they figured out what they really wanted out of their lives and how they wanted to go about achieving these new ideas. I love growth journeys. It enhanced the already strong friendship foundation between Gray and Kai. I am not usually a fan of jealousy, BUT Gray’s completely clueless internal and sometimes external dialogue regarding Kai’s dating was freaking hilarious. For this alone, I would recommend The Happy List. Luckily for us Prescott gives us a great romance between friends to go along with it. I received a free copy of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.

I own both the ebook and audiobook for this title and will give a quick warning to avoid the audiobook if you don't like a Boston accent. The narrator for Kai's character has a strong/thick Bostonian accent that I, personally, did not enjoy.

For the ebook, though, I highly recommend this. Gray is a character that I was really able to relate to for his choices in life and the stagnation he feels when faced with Cee's proposal. His never wanting to marry or have kids, also relatable. His gran, by the way, stole the book for me when she said how she managed to slip out a bathroom window in a wedding gown to flee her wedding so Grayson should have no problem getting out of one in his pants to flee the debacle he made of Cee's proposal event.

Reading Kai was much better than hearing him read to me. He was very fun, likable and clearly devoted to Gray from the beginning. These two absolutely had me from the moment Kai swooped in to save Gray from the trashcans he was caged in with once he climbed out that bathroom window.

There's a very nice, realistic slowburn to this romance. Gray's sexuality is never labeled, but I saw alot of similarities to my own asexualily and I really liked that or that he was demi or, perhaps deliberately named for, graysexual. Kai's hesitation and fear with pursuing more with his best friend really felt authentic and understandable for all the reasons explored within the story. The way the author and characters navigated to happily ever after was beautiful to me. I absolutely loved it and believe without a doubt that they'll be together til death. It's a story that really warms me and I know I'll reread it often. I probably won't listen to the audiobook again, though.

A delightful friends-to-lovers romance with Kai and Grey sharing incredible chemistry and witty banter. This book is low angst, sexy, and heartfelt, capturing the essence of falling for your best friend perfectly!

This book is probably one of the sweetest friends to lovers I've read.
I fell in love with Briar Prescott's writing when I read her debut novel, Project Hero
and I have read all the books she published after that. Of which all I rated 4 stars or more.
There's something about her writing that speaks to me; it's witty, there's banter, there's a lot of humor and her mc's are charming, with real-life dialogues.

In this book the reader already senses there's a lot more to Gray and Kai than just friendship.
Kai has had a crush on his best friend for years, it even caused him to travel the world, because he couldn't see himself get over it while being in Gray's presence every day.
But when Kai's returned to Boston, he realizes he still has feelings for Gray. So when he has no other option than to move in with his best friend for a while, - until he has found his own place,- their friendship unexpectedly seems to develop into something more.
Gray has been clueless about his friendship with Kai. He was just always there, they were like two peas in a pot, where you saw one, the other followed.
His feelings for Kai turn into one confusing melting pot after he got real jealous when Kai was dating another man. Gray has to question his real feelings; is there more to it than just the close friendship he always treasured about Kai and him?
To some people around them it seems quite obvious, but Gray has to find his own answer to that question.
Kai and Gray are sweet together, but also quite hot!
There are a lot of LOL moments in this story, as well as ones to swoon over.
So, if you're in the mood for something low angst, a sweetness that makes you feel all fluffy and warms your insides, you should pick this book. It's absolutely one of the better friends-to-lovers I have read!
    Highly recommended.

This wasn’t a bad book but it wasn’t a great one either. It is well written with very few errors. The friends to livers trope and the bucket list aspect is good but I felt the book just skimmed the surface of both characters. I feel like a book can be a light easy read without being slightly boring… This is the first book I read by this author and I will be reading the next book in the series.

On to the next in the series. I’ve no doubt it’ll be just as much fun!

Best friends to lovers trope is the primary arch for this charming story. Add in gay awakening and two twenty-eight year old buddies that are yin and yang. Prescott works the communications challenge, the great fear of ruining the friendship, using humor and self-deprecation. And two buff boys have some hot times too.

Rep: gay MC, biromantic demiace MC

    Damn I loved this!!!!!!
I’ve never even heard of this author before and I honestly didn’t expect to love it this much.
I was in a mental state where I only wanted to read a cute romance when I decided to download it.

I totally fell in love with the characters, the banter between them and the humour in general are amazing and I peed my pants reading some of the dialogue! 😂 So so funny!!!

Also seeing a character in their late 20s questioning their s*xuality?! And a male character on the ace spectrum?!
Folks, I am SO here for it! So much yes to this!!!! 👏🏻

If you know my reading habits I am not a fan of unnecessary drama. And there is always a little drama in romance books.
But here it was all very understandable and I could relate so much to both of the guys.
They’ve been friends for years, one of them is gay and under the impression that his best friend is straight.
The other one has a kind of s*xual epiphany and is questioning his s*xuality after almost 30 years. And is finally starting to realise something about himself.
Both of them don’t want to ruin the friendship. Both of them don’t know what the other one is really thinking and talking about feelings always makes you vulnerable.
I loved that it was all so super realistic and how Kais sister helped both of them. And talking is hard, I get that so much. I avoid talking at all costs. 😂🙈

Talking about Kais sister: I loved the side characters. I loved both their families and also Jamie. Since I saw that it’s actually going to be a series I HOPE the next book is about Con and/or Jamie. (I felt some vibes there. 👀)
I loved the dynamic between all of them and also: the banter. Yes!

Can’t wait for the next book and will definitely put the other books by this author on my wishlist.

I kept seeing this book on everyone's favourites for 2020, but I'd tried reading the author before and didn't love the book so I kept putting off reading it.
So glad I finally took the plunge. It's superbly well crafted, the characters are endearing AF (you'll want Mon and Ivo to adopt you) and watching Gray single-mindedly go after Kai is just the best.
Kai goes through some angst wondering if Gray is serious about him romantically, but it's well handled by the author without being repetitive or over the top.
Gray and Kai also have killer chemistry.

I want to say many wonderful things about this book but my words and my not so good english could not be enough for that, so first of all and to be crystal clear this Is the most incredible book I've read lately in the BFF to lovers topic. The way the author managed the story, how chapter after chapter and POV after POV we witnessed a couple of best friends became something more in a plot full of heartwarming moments in between hot scenes, the frustating way I wanted to sit Kai and Gray together to have a long talk, etc everything were amazing. And don't forget the characters, they were just as perfect as everything else, I fell in love with all of them and now I want to know more about their stories, I hope that the next books in the series will address their own HEAs. Simply WOW!

This is just... *sighs". Adorable, adorably adorable, whatever! The best friends to lovers -slow burn- has been done so well...! Had me in an emotional turmoil till the end. I think it fits that the introverted/not much into relationships/socially akward type could be someone who has not realized he could feel attraction for another guy. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to read M/M books with clueless "straight" guys that suddenly are into men. But in my opinion this is well done here. Thanks for so many hours of entertainment! ❤️
