Haunted Melody was not at all what I expected. Not to say it was bad, because that’s not the case. You go into this story with a preconceived notion and I will tell you right now you will be utterly wrong.The POV of the story caught me off guard. I’m not sure why I thought it was going to be told by a particular narrator but that was only a one of many surprises.The air and mystery of this book is the main draw and to honor the authors wishes I won’t sit here and paint a pretty picture about the plot and the characters. What I will do is tell to it’s raw and dark. There’s pain and self forgiveness. There’s death and rebirth. Love and loss. Its a paranormal romance that is both sorrowful and rewarding for you and it’s characters.*arc kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.     I was captivated by Alyson’s words, pulled into this story. I couldn’t get enough. I wanted more. I needed answers. Her writing is incredible, her storytelling poetic.

    Such a tortured soul, Milo learns and grows so much while stuck in the house on Maple Avenue.

    It’s more than a ghost story.
    It’s way more than a love story.
    It’s an emotional journey.

    It’s about forgiveness, letting go of the past, redemption, and selflessness.

    Rachel and Milo...they were meant to find each other.

    “She may have been sent to love me back to the light. But I was sent to love her into death.”

    See? Poetic. Words that make you stop and think. Words that fill you with hope and love and anticipation and all the feels.

    Their bonding, their music, their love...so magical and touching and beautiful.

    This story made me smile, made me cry, made me believe.

    If you love paranormal romances with ghosts, read this book.
    If you struggle a bit with the first few chapters, please keep going.
    This hauntingly beautiful tale is so worth the read.

    For me this story has been so many things; enlightening, contentious, disturbing and restorative.

    I was that young woman that watched Ghost with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze over, and over and over again. That love story pressed all my buttons!

    Ghost's spiritual, enduring and eternal love struck such a chord with me that I just knew this story from Alyson Santos was going to be one to strike again that deep connection with my spiritual romantic sensibilities.

    And it did, not just by way of the storyline but through Santos's ability to craft those sentiments with perfection. This author truly has a gift at conveying the heart's truths.

    That said, the physical connection element of this story's portrayal I couldn't quite accept.
    Though I am very open to paranormal concepts, this time I couldn't quite reach that acceptance.

    But that does not take away from this books value.
    It is worth the read, with an open mind and heart and a handing box of tissues!

    This may be the most difficult review I have written to date. If you know me, you know there's never a shortage of words, and this is far from the first time I have nothing but glowing, fangirl to the extreme, praise for Ms. Santos. So what's the problem? While I want to gush effusively about this book, the rational part of me knows that the ONLY way to experience this book is to go in blind. With wine and tissues, perhaps...but blind. And a couple of extra boxes of tissue.

    This is the first book I’ve read by Alyson Santos. In my opinion it started out slow, but I kept reading. I’m glad I did because I was pulled into Milo’s story. I was very pleasantly surprised with the ending.

    I think I still might need to stop to sob a bit more while writing my review. Alyson Santos has the magic down. She has been writing these stories where I am dragged through the trenches and when I think we can finally come up for air she takes me down for that final kill. By kill I mean where people come into the room and don't understand why I am sobbing my eyes out. This was a tragic story, it was a magical story, it was a story of love, and at the end it brought me to a place where I need moments to myself to process what I have just read.     I finished Haunted Melody 2 days ago and I'm still not sure how to review it. There's not another book to compare it to and I definitely don't want any spoilers in here. This story was not a quick read for me and that was intentional. I found I needed to give myself time to absorb and process what I was reading. Milo and Rachel's story is unique, it's at times heartbreaking, it's haunting, and it's beautiful. Any Alyson Santos book stays with me and Haunted Melody is no different. It probably will stay a bit longer than the others, and that's okay. I don't really want to let it go.

    The first part of the story had me confused as hell...I knew the main character was a ghost, but the visions or the point of them plus the random people around him left me wondering where this story was going. Then around the halfway point, the story clarified and became a journey to salvation wrapped in a beautiful love story. At one point I started tearing up a little bit, it’s so good.

    I read this book in one sitting; I had to know what happened. To start with, I kept thinking that I must be missing something, that the book couldn’t be saying what it appeared to be saying.

    I became totally invested in the characters, and it was such an emotional read. The ending is just beautiful.
