    The final book in the Brutal Birthright series does not disappoint, and it's more than you expect.

    I had no idea where the plot was going to go - even though each book can be read as a standalone, there are threads and plot points that wove through all 6 books, and to find a way for them to all wrap up and still be an individual love story was badass. Sebastian Gallo is tied to his family's way of life, and through them to all of the other characters and pairs we've met in the novels. This is a story of alliances, respect, and prioritizing what you value. Sebastian and Yelena both learn that they have to stop letting other people tell them who they are.

    This is almost like two books in one, because around the 50% mark the craziness really starts and you're just like, holding on while screaming hoping that we get to that happy ending. It is absolutely the start of a rollercoaster, with things inching up and up, the tension winding tighter and tighter, and then you fall, and your stomach leaves your body and you're screaming. Just before it got crazy, I looked at my husband, curled in a little ball on my couch and said "something bad is going to happen but I don't know what." And let me tell you, that clarifying moment that sets the rest of the novel off - it will hurt you and shock you.

    Sebastian is much deeper than you'd expect based on how he's previously described. He's smart, committed, complicated, and has a dark side that comes out to play in both sad/devastating ways as well as very sexy ones. You think the barn scene in Broken Vow was hot? You haven't seen ANYTHING until you read Sebastian's story. Aside from his ability to light a kindle on fire, you hurt for him. He's alone in so many ways, and has to step up and make decisions. Even when you, the reader, worry they might be the wrong ones, you support him anyway.

    Yelena is different. A female character who is tall and imposing ,tries very hard to put on a front, and is suffocating underneath the burden of expectations and control. All she wants is to call her own shots, even if the shot she calls is surrendering. Being inside her head was brutal, and relatable, even if we aren't the daughters of mob bosses we know what it's like for the world to tell you your value as a woman. In some ways, she loses the most in the story but quality is better than quantity. Yelena is pure badassery. You know that she will fit in with everyone else in the Gallo/Griffin crew, and they will love her.

    This series is a spectacular take on the mafia subgenre, and Sophie never fails to surprise me with the way she writes these books. Even when I can see where it's going, I never know how we're going to get there and I love it. Mafia can get stagnant and predictable, and this series filled me with energy and excitement. Heavy Crown is no different - it's a kinetic read that will have you flipping pages and squirming to escape the tension. I'm so sad to leave this world, but frak if we aren't leaving it on a spectacular note. And with a hint of the world to come...

    I roundly put this series down! I accidentally read the Kingmakers series first and now will go back and read them all again because they are the reason I love Mafia Romance!     I can’t say I hated it. I didn’t. I think it was a bit too easy and it was written more to introduce the next series, which I’m excited to read. Although I see why Seb became what he became, as the best of the Gallos (body count-wise), I wasn’t so happy to see him become who he did but it makes sense. So not mad at it at all.

    I found her character similarly on par to Simone initially which I HATED so I would have only got 2.5 stars for that alone.

    I feel like Nero had more; him and Camille’s book was the worst (only beat by the train wreck of Nessa & Miko) and they deserve a true well written complete story, but again, I like they brought in ALL the Gallos and we see something more in Nessa, some will in her easy acceptance of everything that’s wrapped in all these characters.

    At any rate, LOVE YOU DANTE! Hate your wife but absolutely love her came and love her left. Love that Aida stepped up and that Nero was allowed to save the day for Seb. Overall it was good. Nice wrap up AND intro :)

    I always dread a series conclusion. It hardly lives up to expectations. I keep this in mind during my review. I feel some loose end weren't handled well. Dante was ALWAYS a Gallo first. I get that he wants to be a father and husband first now, but for him to be absent from almost everything felt wrong. Where was the retaliation from the Bratva after the fire? Was it supposed to be smoothed over by giving them the gambling ring? Was Adrian still involved when he moved back?
    But EVERYTHING else I loved. How Sebastian seriously didn't pickup on the "chance" meeting with Selena, I'll never know. It was pretty obvious. Or ask more questions atleast.

    First of all, i am so happy i went through this amazing journey that was the Brutal Birthright series, which is my favourite, about the mafia in Chicago: Irish, Italian, Polish and Russian mafia and their intertwined paths. I can't recommend it enough and i am so ready for the next series, which is about the 2nd Gen, kids of these characters.
    I would give more stars if i could.

    This is the 6th and last book of the series, a standalone novel, about the love between Sebastian, the youngest brother in the most powerful Italian mafia family in Chicago and Yelena, a Bratva princess. It is a perfect ending to this amazing, sexy, funny, heart-wrenching, angsty series.

    Now, about this book:

    I loved:
    * I KNEW Seb will be my favourite! He got my attention from the first book
    * Yelena is great for Seb, i really felt the emotion between them
    * great character development
    * makes you feel ALL the feelings like any great book should (i laughed, i swooned, i was heartbroken, angsty, wary....)
    * we're 'seeing' many great characters from the other books in the series and we can also see their character development
    * the conflict is a great, interesting one, kept me curious and suspenseful
    * great conflict resolution
    * hot sex scenes, one in particular
    * the greatest ever dynamics between the Gallos - impossible not to love them
    * great bad guy

    I didn't love:
    * that it's the last one, i want mooore
    * the change in Dante, probably the only thing I wasn't a fan of, though it made sense

    Safety Squad:
    * no OW, no cheating, no rape (though at one point, h is touched - just touched, against her will by someone, not the H).

    Favourite quotes:

    What a STUNNING ending to a fantastic series. Seb and Yelena's road to being with each other is fraught with secrets, lies, drama, danger and betrayal. It was outstanding. The storyline? Brilliant and action-packed. The chemistry? Insane. Also, I am a sucker for a good side character and I freaking loved Greta (not gonna lie, would love to see her have her own book). Not every book/series/author has the ability to utterly captivate and affect your life in a strong and positive way. We don't always connect and grow attached to the characters we read. However, there is something about Sophie and the messages in her books that do this for me. Her books and her characters have my heart. 5/5 stars for this absolute banger of a series.
