About the authors
As a child I had a ferocious imagination and immersed myself in creating stories and poems. One birthday, I begged for a chemistry set, sensing the promise of adventure from the glittering vials of copper sulphate and salt. At that time, I didn't know I was following in the footsteps of my grandfather who had studied science in Edinburgh in 1899. A further trace back into my Scottish ancestry uncovered an ancestor known as 'the wizard'. So I could dabble with potions, too, I gained a NZ Certificate in Science (Chemistry) and worked in a variety of laboratories (salt, meat, dairy and wine) in NZ and Australia. The wine tasted the best!
During my 5 years in Adelaide, Australia, I completed several writing courses at the WEA. When my partner, son (5 months), dog, and I moved back to NZ we lived in a house truck for 3 years while our off-the-grid house was planned and built. During this period I wrote on a solar powered laptop and completed many correspondence courses from the AWA.
I write adult fantasy, children's novels and I'm currently branching into romance.
In 2012 my children's MS, Hieroglyph was selected for the NZSA MS Assessment Programme and was further selected for one of five mentorships. Hieroglyph has won the Gold Medal in the UK Wishing Shelf Books Awards 2015, and a Silver Medal in the Readers' Favorite Book Awards 2016.
Please visit www.hieroglyph.ws for details about TC's adventures.
When I'm not glued to my laptop writing or engrossed in a book, I love walking my dog on the wild West Coast beaches and trolling for sea glass, riding my bike or going for bush walks. I always wished I could fly so maybe that's why I love roller coasters. I'm a connoisseur of coffee and chocolate and I counter my addictions with Boxfit and Spin classes.
I believe life is an adventure and we should all live a life less ordinary.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2021Author Wendy Jayne creates a complex but fun situation between Cassidy and Hunter. Hunter wants to play, but Cassidy fears her secret will be exposed. And she likes him.
Within the confines of this short story, you will discover fascinating characters with a magical flair. The romance is perfectly subtle at times and overwhelming at others. The mixture of heat and magical sparks is irresistible.
Here is a sample of the fun inside this twisted tail.
"Backward wasn’t my preferred direction. My body craved his lips, his kiss, his male heat, exploring every facet of my womanly curves. Hunter padded towards me like a stalking jungle cat, his gaze never wavering from my lips as he peeled off his t-shirt and flung it on the floor. My stare fixated on his six-pack abs, and the whisper of dark hair disappearing into his low slung jeans. Heat crackled between us and my lips parted with a come-hither invitation.
“Cassidy, the only one complicating this is you. Sex between us will be phenomenal. I promise.
” That’s one promise I wished I could make him keep; over and over and over again, but I knew it wouldn’t be tonight. To delay his touch, I scooted behind the couch."
This magical romance brings out the true colors of the characters. Easily recommended for those who enjoy an easy read with just the right amount of steamy spice. Author Wendy Jayne makes the reading fun and makes you ask for more.
As a special surprise, there is a delicious little bonus short included, Snakes and Apples—a fun twist to the story of Adam and Eve you should not miss.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2018I loved, loved, loved this short story! It has a bit of everything in the mix from magic to shapeshifters. When Cassidy finds herself with a big problem, she is determined to find out who has put this damnable hex on her and what she can do to reverse it. Warlock, Hunter Rutherford, wants Cassidy. He's courted her for months and is no closer to getting intimate than he was at the beginning, but why? He can see the desire in Cassidy's eyes. When he discovers the reason she's kept a distance between them, he joins forces with her to get to the bottom of the problem. The answer to the question surprised me. If you love a short story that will entertain you and has a satisfying ending, you'll love this.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2019I'm a big fan of this author's stories, and this one was no exception. This short story had so much fun in it - Cassidy's futile attempt to avoid Hunter's advances, her cat's annoyance with her, her inability to control her changes, etc. I only wish that it had been longer. I wanted there to be more of a journey for Cassidy to find the solution to her hex, and I definitely didn't want her to forgive the culprit so easily. That being said, the story is a great, quick read for anyone who enjoys magical, lighthearted stories. :-)
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2018Cassidy is a witch who falls hard for Hunter the warlock. There’s one problem, they can’t be together. Someone has put a hex on her with an entertaining outcome. It’s cute how Cassidy tries to avoid Hunter’s advances. I like when they start working together to resolve the “issue”. This was a fun quick-read full of magic and frustration!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2020Hexed: A Purr-fect Catastrophe is a fun short story about a witch and a warlock who are attracted to each other, and that’s as far as I’m going. As I said, it’s fun with a bit of romance and magic thrown all together like an adult short of Harry Potter.
If you’re looking for a great quick read, check it out!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2020I was first attracted to this short story by the attractive cover. I am glad to say the short story was a really delightful read. The appearance as well as the formatting of the short story is fantastic. The story of a witch that has been hexed to live the life of a feline was a wonderful read. The plot & concept was creative, unique & interesting to the core. The scenes with Hunter, Tamsyn, Wolf Boy etc., flowed very well together & the pacing of the book therefore was marvelous. The characters were well developed as per the requirements of this genre of short story writing. There are no grammatical errors in the book whatsoever. I just admire author Wendy Jayne's way of putting together make-believe worlds which resonate so much with our regular lives & feelings. Thus, on the basis of plot, appearance, descriptions, genre, grammar & concept, 'Hexed: A Purr-fect Catastrophe' gets a 5 star review from me.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2018A delightful short story about love, witches, spells, hexes, and romance. Cassidy has met the man of her dreams, but must get the spell cast upon her lifted if she was to have a relationship with him.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2020This author has quickly become one of my favorites. She has an incredible way of pulling you into the story. Great writing. Beautiful story flow. Lovable characters. Hexed is no different. It's such a fun read! There's magic, romance, and even a little mystery. As I'm finding in most short stories, you're left wanting more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kitty hex!
Short, sweet, funny with a lovely set of kittens. Magical chaos trying to break a curse yet learn to love at the same time. I really enjoyed it the second bonus story was interesting but didn’t have the same appeal.
