Becca, decision-shy and used to letting her best friend call the shots, is jolted into self-discovery after a disastrous 30th birthday. Realizing it's time to stop leaning on others, Becca vows to take control of her own future.
With her life plans crumbling, she returns to her quiet seaside hometown of Sunny Bay and the family’s B&B, where the rooms are covered in chintz and her mother is still serving up 1970’s style meals. Determined not to stay, Becca sets off on a soul-searching trip across Europe.
But just as she’s getting a taste of independence, a family crisis pulls her back to Sunny Bay, and into managing the B&B. Reconnecting with old flames and rivals, Becca is reminded of why she left and is set on returning to her London life.
However, when the mysterious Madame DoTell, a fortune teller with a knack for telling truths, tells Becca that home is where the heart is, Becca can’t help but wonder—should she listen?
If home is where the heart is, where is home?

About the author

Bettina Hunt lives in the East of England with her husband and two young sons. She writes uplifting romantic comedies and women's fiction with fun and relatable heroines.
An avid reader from a very young age, she wrote her first story whilst in primary school and was invited to take it into reception and read it to the class. The positive feedback she received that day made her aspire to be an author and that childhood dream is now a reality.
Bettina loves comedy, cocktails and afternoon tea. She can't dance but loves to sing. She does all her own stunts but rarely intentionally. She has dyspraxia and is on a mission to raise awareness of what it's like to have this condition, starting with her latest fiction novel - A Girl Like Me.
Bettina is a co-host of the Love At First Write Podcast talking all things writing and reading romance.
You will find her on all the usual social media channels where she'd love to hear from you.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2022This is a fun read! Becca has a Bridget Jones’ character vibes. It’s in first person so I felt intimately in Becca’s head. I really loved her family (particularly her mom and dad) and the whole seaside town. I wasn’t quite sure until close to the end which guy she was going to pick. I also really enjoyed how she got her act together and made her own choice as to what was going to make her happy.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2021I really enjoyed this book so becca finds out her boyfriend and best friend are sleeping together and she has to take a break from work so she goes back home until she leaves for her travels but even that doesn't go as planned so she's stuck running her parents B&B with them and having to face the 3 men she may or may not have feelings for.
I really loved all thw characters in this especially art and donal. I thought they were really nicely written and i believed that they were happy becca was back and wanted to make ammends. Charlie the little sister was also one of my favourites as well she is an artist who also helps run the b&b I felt she was warm and caring and genuinely a good character. I really liked all of the men in this and I wasn't sure if any becca would pick or stay with and the end I actually wanted happened so I was really happy with the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read from Bettina Hunt!
I am a big fan of Bettina Hunt’s romcoms. Her books are always funny, uplifting and her heroines are always relatable, sassy and fun.
This book was great and I loved her character Becca. With a hangover and in the office this girl is hilarious! I loved the inner battle she went through over the new direction her life was going to take.
Her rise to the challenge of taking on the family B&B was inspiring and Sunny Bay, her home time, sounds like a place I want to visit.

This is a funny and uplifting romcom - it’s the perfect book to take with you on the beach.
I received an arc for this book from the author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely family orientated story
I really enjoyed this book. I got to know Becca and admired her for following her dreams. I think the focus on family really stood out in this and just shows you can be super close to your parents at any age.
There are quite a few typos in my version but it still read well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Feelgood Read!
Looking for an easy, feel-good read, with plenty of romantic twists, as well as lots of talk of food? Oh, and the idyllic setting of a seaside town, complete with beautiful beaches?
Well, then you need to get yourself a copy of High Heels!
Becca, our MC is on the cusp of real womanhood. You know, she's got it all figured out. Turning thirty. Decent job, fab best friend, great boyfriend, who looks like he's about to take their commitment to the next level.. that sort of thing.
Then, as her birthday hits, it all goes wrong.
Finding herself without a man, said best friend, a flat, or even a job, for at least three months, Becca has some thinking to do and needs to do it fast.
Unfortunately, the only place she can turn to, initially, is back home with her parents and sister, in their little family-run B & B in Sunny Bay. Back to a place filled with memories, some of which she'd rather forget, as well as a handful of males who have all featured in her life at some point.
This is a story of finding the real you, after being swallowed up in trying to fit into what everyone else thinks is a success.
Becca starts up pretty messed up, but various events along the way, pull her towards her rightful place in life.
I was spoilt for choice with romantic interests, pre-empting what might happen at the end - who would be Becca's 'one'? And I have to admit, there were some great choices to pick from!
And I loved Madame DoTell! You need a crackpot psychic in every story, I think!
Overall, a lovely read, leaving me with the yearning to go spend some time at The Yellow Beach House, just so I can take some Gram-worthy food pics!
This was my first book by Bettina Hunt, and I have convinced myself that I'll need to invest in the previous three, now, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars rom com perfection
Another book I had been absolutely chomping at the bit to get to get to and when it appeared on my Kindle I did a little happy dance (in my head!) This is the story of Becca, who has her decisions made for her by texting her best friend and offering multiple choices for her friend to pick her. I went about telling everyone I knew how this was a book that started how every good rom com does, with the lead having both work and love issues that were a series of one disaster after another. When Becca decided to head home to her family's B&B by the sea I was thrilled and absolutely fell into the descriptions that put me right there. This is a book that has so much feel good, in particular I was excited every time I met Madame dotell- who charges Becca multiple tenners to dispense advice to help her figure her life out. All in all beyond recommended for the perfect amount of escapism this summer. Fantastic!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fabulous book by Bettina Hunt!
I loved this book, my favourite so far that Bettina has written. Great storyline and characters, and the fabulous descriptions of the food made me so hungry! The story kept me up until all hours wanting to know what was going to happen, and who Becca might end up with. A really happy, uplifting book, the perfect romcom to help you escape from every day life for a few hours. Can't wait for her next book!
