- Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2012What a lovely animal story with wonderful human touches of integrity and morals.
Can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. It would make a superb hard cover book if
fully illustrated similarly to the cover drawings.
I would love to see an animated film of this story as the narrative is so descriptive one can
visualize every scene.
Absolutely loved it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2016Set against a contemporary urban background, Wollie Boehm’s captivating fable depicts a burgeoning friendship between a young chick and fox cub, transporting the reader back to the innocence of the simple joys of childhood. We witness the trials and tribulations the two characters experience as their friendship grows and the difficult decisions they face in overcoming the boundaries of ‘conventionality’.
Both uplifting and sad, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this quirky story with its unexpected ironic twists and was kept guessing till the end.
An endearing tale of the universality of love and friendship, sacrifice and taking a stand.
Highly recommended; will appeal to all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars and being true to yourself and those you love. A real treat of a little story
The heart warming tale of Freddie and Issy'a blossoming friendship, against a backdrop of cultural differences, peer pressure and intolerance, takes you on a journey. The harsh early lessons for Issy, the family expectations that young Freddie must live up to- provide both the main characters with a reason for the readers to care. The story draws you in, keeps you invested in how the friendship progresses, and ensures that you are fully aware of the moral behind it- that of acceptance, standing up for your beliefs, and being true to yourself and those you love. A real treat of a little story, it will leave you wishing for more.

4.0 out of 5 stars An unexpected friendship.
An intriguing story of an unusual and unexpected friendship - friends who somehow find each other, and the obstacles they must try to overcome. This is a story that works on several levels at once, and it carries the reader along with Freddie and Issy as they face up to the challenges of making their way in a world that is not always a comforting or welcoming place for them. A gentle narrative to begin with, but one that picks up speed and conceals a harder edge as it moves towards the final pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed reading the story of Issy and Freedie
I really enjoyed reading the story of Issy and Freedie, a unique, unusual friendship, a great adventure that shows how to deal with the difficulties life brings to us. A very quick read, very smooth, brings you in right form the beginning and can’t put the book away until you finished it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Poignant love story told through the eyes of animal characters
Delightful! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Wonderful, vivid narrative and a good adventure. We are cleverly taken through the highs and lows of love and friendship as seen through the eyes of our heroes, Issy and Freddie. Whilst at times, both humorous and sad, it's the effortless charm of the animal characters that gives this story its unique quality which is always uplifting. I'd love to see this adapted as an animation or fully illustrated book. Would highly recommend.
