The hardest decision Alana Chisholm has ever had to make was to leave her betrothed behind. But now, Ethan MacKeefe has shown up at her door and is going to want answers that she can’t reveal.

With so much at stake, can she continue living without him, even though her heart is broken and she holds a dark secret that Ethan can never know?

Highland Spirit (The Highland Chronicles Book 2) by Elizabeth Rose is another captivating and intriguing Highland Romance. While, book 2 in "The Highland Chronicles", but it can be read as a stand alone.
Well written with engaging and believable characters. The storyline flows seamlessly and effortlessly.

Elizabeth Rose has once again woven another story with her enchanting words that will keep you captivated and on your toes. Follow, Ethan MacKeefe and Alana Chisholm at the haunted Blackbriar Castle. You won't go wrong with Alana and Ethan's story. Filled with ghosts, Templar treasure, danger, romance, a dark secret, and finding a HEA. I was totally absorbed in "Highland Spirit", from the first page to the last and beyond, this story definitely lingers long after the last page.
Another spellbinding and enthralling episode for the King's Chronicles. A
    gripping, and riveting
story that will keep you riveted to the pages. Another keeper for sure! I look forward to the next grand adventure from Elizabeth Rose! Highly recommended for fans of Historical Romance, the Templar treasure, romance, love with a climatic ending.

I was a little disappointed with the story as it started. I thought "Oh no" the author, Elizabeth Rose, is giving us a story that was just like any other. Then I kept reading on and the story kept getting more and more exciting.
Alana was about to marry her childhood love Ethan MacKeefe. As she was ready to walk down the aisle she received a message that her Mother was captured and her father need her and the whole family to help free her. She had to leave right away and not say a word to anyone. She did and she saw her Mother killed her father and sister and brother taken prisoner by a friend of her father.
Five years later she had a beautiful 4 year old daughter by Ethan, but she still was a prisoner. Then by chance she see Ethan again and now the adventure starts.
No. I'm not going to spoil the book for you but here is a few hints, ghosts and Templar Knights and love. Definitely a book to read and enjoy.

I am not a fan of stories where there are secrets, let alone kept throughout most of the story, as happens here.

Our h makes some awful choices that ruin so many lives. The H feels he was left at the alter and for 5 years holds the betrayal close to his heart.

There is a touch of paranormal which I enjoyed and added to the story. I loved the h's daughter, the H's dog and his friend. Made for great entertainment!.

There is lovemaking, outside of marriage, heat level 3 out of 5. What the H does after there lovemaking made me laugh. I thought for sure I knew where the story was heading. Saying to myself, here we go, but I was so wrong - in a great way.

We have some suspense, unique story line, twists, no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance and a tad of spice I think described twice and not vulgar. Even though part of a series, can be read as a stand alone. (ljb)

Alana and Ethan loved each other very much. It was not an arranged marriage, but circumstances beyond her control forced her to leave right before the ceremony of marriage. Alana wasn't allowed to explain or tell Ethan why she had to leave. Many twists and turns in Alana's life before they see each other after 5years. Mysreries, Ghosts and Smugglers abound, there was even a treasure to find.
i have enjoyed reading the 2nd book in the next Highland generation. Elizabeth Rose is exacting in the details of her stories so that it is a stand alone novel but you are filled in on details of the storyline so you know what came before.

In a few whispered words from her father's friend, Alana Chisholm's life changed forever. How could it be? She was about to marry her childhood sweetheart Ethan MacKeefe and waiting for her family to arrive when she was forced to leave the ceremony.
This intriguing story started off with a bang and never let up until the end. Two people meant for each other are torn apart due to greedy villians who were determined to find a treasure they believed her family knew the location.
Five years later, Ethan was helping his cousin Hawke in a search near Blackbriar Castle, which he knew was haunted with ghosts. He was haunted himself since his bride Alana had taken out with another man, or that was what he thought.
But fate had another plan and hopefully it would bring these two back together!!! Elizabeth Rose as woven another story with her magical words that will keep you captive until the end!!

Though I enjoyed this story I rated it 4 stars and would have actually given it 3.5 compared to my other authors do to the old world/Scottish language that for me takes away from the enjoyment of reading the story and also the lack of depth in detail within the story itself. It was an enjoyable light and spirited read.
