With lives at stake, decisions must be made that involve both the head and the heart. But can Caleb push his feelings for Bridget aside in order to do the king's bidding of finding and stopping the saboteur before it's too late?

Another great book by Elizabeth Rose. Caleb always seems to do or say the wrong thing when ever around Bridget. His friends are always teasing him about his pet pine Martin and now they realize he has eyes for Bridget who helps her father write in a book for the King. Bridget is always jumpy around Caleb because she and her father have a secret. Please read and find out the rest of the story.

Caleb is a Mackeefe and is short and gets lots of kidding.
He has seen Bridget from a far. Bridget has been doing the job of
Writing the highland chronicle for her father. They are all going to the lairds Competition to watch Strom win for the third time.
Things start happening and Caleb is asked by the king to compete for strom who had his toe broken and to be a spy to find out who has been doing all of this. The person who was ruining the competition
Is found and killed. Caleb and Bridget get married and have a son named after her father. Slink Caleb’s pine marten get a new name highland spy.

In the opening we find four men, who were sons of the greatest MacKeefe warriors going on about Caleb and his pesky weasel Slink.. Wait, make that a pine marten! If you have not read the other 3 in this series that is fine, but you are missing some great stories of these and their "pets", more like guards! Very humorous between these four!
Caleb is the last of the four unwed and that has not made it into the Highland Chronicles. A history that list those that have done heroic acts and the focus of Caleb's interest.
What nobody knows is that Bridget's father is no longer able to complete the work and she does it for him..
Caleb escorts her and her father on a journey and there is no telling what will happen! Love Elizabeth Rose and her humor and strong male characters with a little suspense thrown in. It doesn't get much better!

I have enjoyed every word written. This is another Highlander story. It tells of the MacKeefe family. Son Caleb, who had a pet pine marten who’s friends called it a rodent, or a weasel or any thing that was abusive. Caleb would not be happy when they called him such names. Caleb lived in the Highlands but his parents and siblings lived in
Hermitage Castle. Where the king was due to arrive
To view the Highland Games. Normally, Storm would champion the Highland Games. The kings chronicler and his daughter needed to get to the Castle but the laird in the Highlands was reluctant to
Allow them to go by themselves. So Logan and his new wife, and Caleb would travel with them. Caleb didn’t realise that he loved the daughter of the chronicler named Bridget, and wanted her to love him and planned to get close to her on their journey to the castle. They had many adventures on the way. At the castle, many nasty things were occurring, underhand schemes and at the games dirty work was
The plan. Eventually Bridget loved Caleb.
This book needs reading to know what happens and a lot does happen in the telling. I loved this book, it was very enjoyable.
