Highland Steel: The Highland Chronicles, Book 3 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 out of 5 stars 465 ratings

She needs his protection to escort her to the Highlands. But where she wants him to take her is to his enemy's territory. It's a dangerous game she plays. How much are they both willing to risk for love?

The Sassenach

Lady Rhoswen Asquith accompanies her father and siblings on a journey to the Highlands, setting out on a very important and dangerous mission. The plan is to save her baby nephew from her late sister's murderous husband Ranulph Drummond.

Unfortunately, her English escorts have just been attacked and killed by bandits, and her father is left for dead. With the only item they had to barter for her nephew's return now stolen, she and her siblings are left without escorts and stranded on the wrong side of the border.

The Highlander

Logan MacKeefe travels with his pet wolf at his side and his sword in his hand. But today, he's been thrown out of the Horn and Hoof Tavern in Glasgow because his wolf has stolen a chicken right out of old Callum MacKeefe's soup pot.

Wanting a few minutes of peace and quiet, he bathes in the bay and suns himself on a rock to dry. It isn't long before he is disturbed by a bonnie lassie atop a horse who comes crashing through the thicket, heading right toward the water.

She's a Sassenach, who begs him to help her dying father. Never able to turn away a lassie in distress, Logan agrees, becoming the protector of Rhoswen and her younger siblings. But when her father dies, Logan finds himself in the middle of a harrowing situation, since where she wants him to take her is to his enemy's den.

Will honor and love win over revenge and guilt, as two people who should never be together find comfort and solace in each other's arms?

Logan MacKeefe rescued a lady from a spooked horse. He found that her father was attacked. He went to the attack area and brought her father, the lady and her siblings to the tavern for help. Lady Rhoswen’s father told her to save the sword and kill Lord Drummond for killing her sister. Logan’s clan had enough trouble with the Drummonds. When he found what the sword looked like he was ready to fight for it because it was really his sword of Triumph. At the Drummond’s castle Rhoswen was to be Drummonds wife and Logan put into the dungeon. In the dungeon was Rhoswen’s sister Ailsa. Logan got them all out and the MacKeefe clan came to help. With Drummond dead the new Laird and the MacKeefe clans made an alliance.

Intrigue, loss, mystical weapons and true, passionate love that conquers all, this book has all that and a sword-wielding heroine to boot. Not a lot of depth of character, but a fun quick read. A couple of typos, and a reference to a "stout", when I'm pretty sure they meant a "stoat", rather than a beer.

Logan is good at falling into trouble with his wolf. This time he saves an English Lafy Roswen from a runaway horse. Lady Roswen and her siblings are orphaned when their father dies in Scotland. Logan promises to protect her and her Siblings. Lady Roswen was not your ordinary “lady” in that she could use weapons, specifically a sword. The story was very riveting and I couldn’t put it down once I started reading There was always something going on that I couldn’t stop reading.
Lady Roswen was a good match for Logan. They discovered that Vengeance wasn’t worth it, Love conquers all and makes life worth the BB living

    Format: Paperback
This book was entertaining and the characters enjoyable, but it felt rushed and I didn't feel like it was realistic enough. I would have liked to have seen some aspects of the plot fleshed out a little more.

I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

A very nice, if a little sad tale of family loyalty. It’s Logan’s turn now, and when he rescues a family on a roas he has no idea what comes next. Plenty of romance and adventure is what’s coming! A great Sunday afternoon read.

I enjoyed this book. So glad Rosalyn and Logan were meant to fall in love. It would have been nice to know if a baby was on the way to the happy couple.

Rhoswen is an English pampered miss that is torn between what she should do after her father is killed and her sister and brother are depending on her to take care of them. She wants her orphaned nephew because the man, Drummond, that holds him killed her sister when her was duped into marrying her when she was already pregnant.
Logan holds guilt of losing the sword that belonged to his clan when he was caught with Drummond’s daughter and she was killed.
Logan doesn’t want to care about Rhoswen, but he falls for her and she for him.
Will he help her or will he convince her to leave Drummond alone so they don’t go to war with him again?

I have read this book and found it amazing. Logan had met a young lady when she and her siblings had run from bandits. They had killed the families guard and almost killed their father.
Logan carried and put father lying face down on a horse. They got him to the local pub which was owned by Logans grandfather, who not only owned the pub, but he manufactured a brand of whiskey which everyone wanted to drink. The father died at the pub, but before death, he told his eldest daughter some secrets and he expected her to carry
These missions out. The bandits who attacked the family party. The leader of this band was called Drummond and the father had agreed for his daughter Alisa to marry this brute of a man , but Drummond found out that his new wife had been with a stable boy of her fathers and was carrying his child. So when the child was born. Drummond told everyone that he had killed his wife. He still kept the baby, who was called Lockie. The story went on to tell of how they found the Mother of the child in a dungeon. Then Logans sweetheart was called to fight Drummond which she did very well. Drummond was then killed. When they got back to the Highlands Logan and his bride married. This book was fantastic full of intrigue and happenings all the time. A very entertaining and beautiful book. X

I enjoyed this romance set in the highlands of Scotland in the past. It's a light story. But the characters are interesting, and the female lead is not a weak character, which I prefer.
