Strong men and feisty women populate the books of Libby Campbell, USA Today bestselling author. Her fast-paced stories are full of challenges and setbacks. Each couple finds their joyful HEA only after major differences have been resolved with classic dom/sub discipline.
Some of these stories span one hundred years or more, through the magic of time travel. Others take you on a fantasy ride to a faraway galaxy or into the life of a stern billionaire. Some romances are contemporary. Her current series (release date December 2021) will step back in time to the roaring 20’s, 1920’s that is.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2019This is a story of a modern couple and a not uncommon modern dilemma. Cara lives on Salt Spring Island on property she inherited after the death of her parents. She's an artist whose love of nature, local history, and cultural traditions are of immense importance to her life. Her property borders the McCrae family property on which her favorite "borrowed" boat house resides. Suddenly, Cara is not alone as Luke McCrae has inherited the McCrae property and has big development plans for it. This news causes huge upheaval in Cara's life and she is determined to change Luke's mind. Neither desire by these characters is inherently wrong or inherently right, but in the beginning at least, they are each determined to see their own view be the end result. This leads to conflict in a series of frustrating and sometimes humorous events. However, there is no doubt that these two are attracted to each other and Luke in particular would like to get to know Cara better. Luke is a dominant man who believes in exacting punishment from Cara when her behavior goes over the line. As their relationship deepens romantically, the development issue continues to sit between them. In addition, there are some strange outside forces at work that cause both great confusion and hope for Cara. This story caught me in its web with its multilayered plot. The author does a wonderful job of communicating the beauty of the Island as well as the cultural heritage that means so much to Cara. The relationship is also well written. Cara can be a real pain at times, but the author lets you know where her heart is at, which sometimes prevents her from seeing anything else. It's Luke's job, as well as the visits from some special characters, to help her see beyond her own insular vision. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Salt Spring Island and getting to know this couple who seem so very modern at first glance, but have many ties to the past, including traditional roles within their relationship. I highly recommend this unique and romantic book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2018When Cara Eckford’s parents die in a freak plane crash, her world turns black. Not even Salt Spring Island helps. Even her art can only do so much. But it’s the McCrae boathouse that becomes her haven. Little does she know how her life’s about to change! One day, tired from sketching, she lies on the boathouse’s sofa, drifting into sleep. When she startles awake, why is she wearing different clothes, smelling a strange floral scent? As she tiptoes outside, she’s speechless! On the beach below, stand Frank McCrae and her great-grandmother, Amaruq! Impossible! Is this a hallucination? Somehow she knows it’s not. Shaken, she creeps to the boathouse, lies down, closes her eyes. When her eyes open again, she’s back where she belongs. She’s certain of one thing. She can’t say anything to anyone. Who would believe her? But that visit to the past breaks the darkness in her soul. That is, until Luke McCrae shows up. Seems his grandfather, who’d all but promised the McCrae land to Cara, has passed. Luke’s inherited, and his plans shatter Cara. No two people could be more different. Not only does Luke plan to destroy everything Cara holds dear, he’s very clear about his rules, as Cara soon learns. Could any man be more pigheaded? As the two battle back and forth, neither willing to give an iota, Cara’s pulled into the past again. This time, can there be a way to change the present? Even if true, will Luke accept it? Unlikely. When disaster strikes, Cara’s devastated. Is there any way to fix this? Or will Cara and Luke’s stubbornness destroy something beyond precious?
Libby Campbell’s a new author for me. I liked the premise of this story. Time travel, two people who couldn’t be more different, constantly at cross purposes. Cara has a deep abiding love for the island and its preservation. But it goes far deeper than just being a “tree hugger,” as Luke calls her. This is buried deep in her soul. It’s her inspiration, strength, connection to life. Luke’s absolutely hot and gorgeous, maybe too much so. Stubborn and oh, so sure of himself, getting his way is a daily occurrence. He’s not about to let anyone stand in his way, especially Cara. As strong and stubborn as Cara is, Luke is her match. The undeniable anger and attraction between these two make this story. As much as the island is Cara’s joy, to Luke it means just one thing. His world is the city, his job, his money. But is that really who he is? Secrets buried in his past shape his every decision. Libby Campbell has a unique talent for painting word pictures. She makes the island come alive in every detail. I was transported, saw the natural beauty through Cara’s eyes, felt her connection to the land, the magic of her surroundings. Luke, his arrogance, dominance, and absolute certainty he knows everything shine through. That being said, while I really like this book, I had problems with several plot points. I want to emphasize these issues are completely subjective. I believe no one else would notice what bothered me. I will definitely be reading more of Ms. Campbell’s books. Her talent is evident, and I do recommend His Land, His Law.
A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language with spanking, some BDSM tones, and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and all booksellers' websites. Please use these resources. I urge you to leave a review, but with a proviso. Please don’t leave a negative review when you know you won’t enjoy the book. It's not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to a book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun characters face a modern conflict
This book delivers a lot of story in a relatively short space. It is time travel, paranormal, romance and DD all in one package. The past conflicts with the present. The city slicker conflicts with the environmentalist in a fight over the future of an old forest.
It was well written and I liked the way both Luke the city banker and Cara the alternative life style artist changed through the story.
The twists and turns in the story kept me turning pages. Highly recommended to anyone who likes a bit of story depth in their kinky romances.
