Hollow Places: An Emotional Christian Romance Novel Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 549 ratings

The church left her scarred, his faith saved his life. Can a woman angry at God find love in the arms of a pastor?

Social worker Alli Johnson is as dedicated as they come to helping foster kids survive the system that had failed her as a youth. But her service to others hides a pain that leaves her feeling as fragile as the autumn leaves. As winter approaches, and one of her clients is placed at a religious group home, she's forced to face the trauma that robbed her of her sense of self. And a too-hot pastor who sees past her defenses.

Delivered from years of pent-up rage, youth pastor David Porter wants to help others find the sense of peace God's given him—especially the hurting seven-year-old and his spirited social worker. But he's out of his depth with one, and dangerously attracted to the other.

The handsome pastor challenges Alli's perception of "believers" and she struggles to smother her growing feelings and focus on the adoption of her charge. Amidst costume parties, snowball fights, fireside cocoa, and the soft glow of twinkling lights, Alli and David's mutual concern for the boy draws them together. Yet, their differences—in background, perspective, and faith—threaten to tear them apart. Both have been shaped by terrible pasts, but has God brought them together this holiday season to heal their hollow places?

Hollow Places is a moving Christian romance novel. If you like enemies-to-lovers tales, fighting for the less fortunate, and stories of healing, then you’ll adore Michelle Massaro’s powerful narrative.

I can’t begin to describe how exceptional this book is. The lives of the three characters are woven together masterfully, making the story mesmerizing. Michelle’s use of words as pictures is amazing, and enriches the story immensely. My only regret is that she hasn’t written more books than she has! Michelle, please give us another book!

I was truly surprised by how deep and emotional this book was. I knew nothing about it or the author but thought I’d give it a try and it was really good. The author wrote a heart wrenching view into the world of foster kids. The romance was very genuine and not cliched, and wasn’t the main point of the story, but rather the relationships between those involved in the care of the foster child. The faith element was very realistic as well.

Alli is not one to believe in the Lord but when she placed a charge in a strong faith driven group home she comes face to face with that. Great story.

I absolutely loved this book from the beginning to the end. I encourage anyone to get it and get a box of Kleenex to go with it! It will touch your heart and even possibly affect your life. I became invested in the characters immediately. There is not a single place that the story bogs down — it held my interest continuously. The characters become real, believable people that I cared about. There are a few places where the grammar should be improved and a case of a wrong word or a typo that I found mildly distracting BUT I became so involved in the story that it didn’t matter. If you are a grammar policeman, do NOT let that keep you from moving on in this wonderful book. Michelle is a marvelous story teller. I forgot it was fiction and became immersed in the story. It is a treasure.

Just finished reading the book at 1:00 a.m. Just had to finish reading. Michelle Massaso did a great job. Alli Johnson was helping foster kids. She met Pastor David Porter and Tomas. The path is great! Loved it! Jeanette Stracner

This book stirred up feelings and I admit I shed a tear or two. The struggles in this book are REAL LIFE for far too many people. Even though the ending was pretty predictable-as are many HEA’s-the journey to get there was very worth the read. The characters are flawed and real and show that we are ALL a work in progress as far as our walk with the Lord goes. Hahaha Even “Pastors” are human and tempted by the flesh. I think we forget that sometimes.
SO YES! I would definitely recommend this book!!
