Have you ever seen a fireman who’s so insanely sexy you’d actually consider DIY-ing a little at-home arson just so he’d show up at your front door?

Dramatic, I know, but hear me out.

Chiseled hot body, bright blue eyes, and the sexiest smile I’ve ever seen—the first time I saw Garrett Alexander in my exam room, it took everything inside me not to do something crazy like mount him during his yearly physical.

Not only is he a total babe, but he’s charming, hilarious, and the kind of single dad that would make your ovaries explode—
the total freaking package.

I know you’re probably wondering,
What in the heck are you waiting for, girl? Go get yourself a fireman!

But, see, there’s one teeny-tiny (read: huge) problem—
if we got together, we’d have to keep our relationship a secret.

I know. Who even am I? Some heroine in a freaking forbidden romance novel?

Let me guess, now you’re probably thinking...
Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Don’t do it, girl. Don’t fall for the sexy, off-limits man. It’s not worth it.

Well, too late. I already went and did it.

And I have a feeling this fire of ours is going to go up in a big, mushroom-cloud-worthy, ball of figurative smoke.

Garrett and Lauren are a five alarm fire!
5 out of 5 stars
Garrett and Lauren are a five alarm fire!
“Holy guacamole. This guy is H. O. T. hot stuff. It’s a good thing he’s a fireman because there’s a good chance before this night is over, he’s going to make me combust. Surely, he’ll know how to get the flames under control, right?” If anyone ever told you that you would meet the love of your life under extenuating circumstances, would you believe it? Would you then believe if said people kept meeting under the most bizarre life situations that would make it seem as if it was fate? Me neither. But I digress, Garrett would have to disagree. Garret. Divorced. Single Dad. Hot Shot Firefighter. Oh did I mention he was hot? Or was it hot shot? Anyway. He is a unicorn people. A u n i c o r n . And as much as he was holding onto his kids and his job as his sole focus, Lauren came into his life with an iron grip. Literally. Lauren. Single - but in a committed relationship to her first love, medicine. Doctor. Hard worker. She’s an enigma and incredibly bright, more so that she is all Garrett sees when she walks into the room. “Hot Stuff,” by Max Monroe is a fun and forbidden standalone romantic comedy. It pairs up Garrett and Lauren under some interesting circumstances, and showcases that their lives were very much more star crossed than what they could have ever imagined. Their chemistry was five-alarm-fire hot, and the quirkiness overload was too cute. When you know you’ve found that special someone, you hold onto them and never let go. It was definitely an insta-love feel good romance and I can’t wait to see what’s next in the single dad series!

If you read “Romeo Seeking Juliet” then, like me, you probably had your fingers crossed that Garrett would soon have his story told. Well, that day has come! “Hot Stuff” is a hot read that starts out with a slow burn, and when it ignites, the combustible connection between the lead characters cannot be contained. I finished this book quickly because it was so well-written. It was a smooth, easy read, and the story was wonderfully entertaining.

Garrett is a divorced dad who is devoted to his 12-year-old twins. His career as a highly skilled firefighter causes him to have a difficult work schedule, but he manages to do everything in his life with intense focus. Lauren is a talented woman of great focus as well, having been dedicated to establishing her career as a doctor. From the moment they meet at his annual physical, these 2 characters are brilliant together. I don’t like to give much detail in terms of plot, especially with a story like this one, because I believe part of the experience of enjoying a novel is found in the pleasure of letting it unfold across the pages as the author, (or in this case, the authors), intended. I will tell you that this book made wheeze and snort with laughter. One of my teenagers actually looked at me while I was reading and asked, “Mom, what’s wrong with you?” before slowly backing away and shaking his head with that facial expression that says, “Moms are so weird.” Well, when you read this book don’t say I didn’t warn you so that you could take measures to minimize your own potential embarrassment!

We get to experience the relationship between Garrett and Lauren from dual POV, which is always the best way to understand motivations and emotions as they navigate through a minefield of complications. Within the wonderful cocoon of this romantic comedy, both of these main characters wrestle with issues of personal growth and change. There are so many great secondary characters and situations adding even more dimension to this book – twin kids, stressed sisters, his best friend, her father, co-workers, natural disasters, an ex-wife, new friends, and Fat Frank, an unexpected and memorable guy. The ending was really good. The epilogue was great. And get your hands on the extended epilogue … which now has me eagerly awaiting the next book!

    ***5 ‘Frank’ Stars***

This book was ALL KINDS of snort laughing, smexy and sweet, twitterpating heart, awkward moments and cheeks hurting from all the grinning goodness from start to finish. It really was. Ok..there were a couple of “mmmhhhmmm” moments, but really, they only made the goodness that much better and I hate the fact that there are no more words because I didn’t want to say good-bye to Garrett, Lauren and the rest of the crew.

Truth: I ADORED Garrett before even diving into this book. ADORED and that is all thanks to Single Dad Seeks Juliette. He was so awesome in that book, that I was lowkey stalking the author to ensure I wouldn’t miss his book and all this book did was make me love him even more. He is a real good man in every way that counts. And Lauren. She is all kinds of sweet, sassy, kinda quirky and awkwards at time, but with a really good heart. She cracked me up the entire time and I seriously want to be besties with her.

Their journey was so much fun to be on from start to finish. I’m not all too sure how to classify their first meeting because I’m not I’d call THAT a “meet-cute” but it was totally unique and unforgettable. As for the rest of it, it was hard to not fall absolutely in love with them as couple from the start. They had that “thing” that had me rooting for them from the start ~ especially after that first date, which was also unique and unforgettable. As for that whole “secret relationship” thing. When it happened I was like “WHOA”, yeah...k BUT it wasn’t as crazy as I thought it would be and that all worked out the way it was supposed to and I loved how everything worked out for Garrett & Lauren in the end.

I gotta say, this was a fun read. Truly fun read. The angst is low, the awkward kinda OTT moments are hilarious and all of the characters were so much fun ~ though Bethany did have her moments. I loved catching up with Jake and Holley and Chloe. Holley cracked me up. Sarah and Hayden ~ Garrett and Bethany’s kids were so much fun (toes are crossed that once they get a little older they’ll get their own books) and it was fun to meet Lauren’s family.

Now, I was wondering who the next single dad was gonna be since there wasn’t really anyone mentioned in the book...and then I read the extended epilogue. OM?!?!! You NEED to make sure to snag that baby at the end (it’s a book funnel thing) because the ovaries just went all kinds of happy (again, cause, Garrett) and I cannot WAIT to meet Rhett!

Absolutely adored Hot Stuff by Max Monroe. Garrett is a swoony, sweet, sexy male lead, and he has definitely met his match in Dr. Lauren!

We met Garrett as Jake's best friend in Single Dad Seeks Juliet, and then he was the grumbly-but-fun-loving sidekick that was going through a rough patch in his marriage and getting divorced. Garrett tried his absolute best to keep his marriage together for his twin children, but ultimately it was fated to end because he was just not the right guy for his ex, and she wasn't the right woman for him. But in Lauren, he has finally found the right one.

Their physical attraction is instant, but it's more than just that. They have a meet-cute that includes a medical gown and Garrett getting his prostate checked, but then they just keep running into each other afterwards, showing that their relationship is really fated to be. They are both fun, entertaining, caring and considerate, and they mesh so well not only with each other, but with Garrett's kids as well.

Garrett is seriously the best book boyfriend. Loyal, funny, devoted to his kids. With all his good traits, it takes a special woman to love him and his demanding job.

Lauren is the perfect woman for him and his kids with one small problem. I really wanted her to own it sooner, but they get there.

A sweet, funny, loving book about finding love again and being true to yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story
Reviewed in Australia on September 4, 2022
Max Monroe are great writers who tell stories about (extra)ordinary people who find love together with a lot of laughter thrown in. I first read ‘Single Dad Seeks Juliet’ and I knew that I couldn’t miss Garrett’s story. I have to say that I can’t see it being easy to be the wife of a bush firefighter. Here in Australia we have a different system. We have the SES who are a volunteer service who put their lives on the line every bushfire season. Absolutely wonderful people. But it’s so hard for their families and also for them when they are fighting to save someone’s home and find out that their own house has gone up in flames.
This was a wonderful story and I urge you to read it.

It's so darn blessed to find such beautiful love that we see between Garrett and Lauren. It's fun to read about them, the kids, Chloe, Jake-Holley. I am so happy to read about Chloe and Holley. Despite her fear, I loved the way she stood up for Garrett. And felt very proud. And Garrett just accepts being fired for her, so stoically. Loved the story. And they buggy-eyed Frank, the fish. Lauren's conversations with her 'soul pet' are hilarious.

4.0 out of 5 stars What a funny read!
Reviewed in Germany on February 21, 2021
This book is really funny, somewhat sexy, romantic and relaxing. It follows the story of Garrett and Lauren. He is a single dad of twins, hot firefighter and good guy all around. She is a beautiful doctor, the youngest daughter of Garrett's boss. They have great chemistry, the drama is low as they try to navigate a relationship where he is out on calls a lot of the time and she insists on keeping they relationship secret and their inner monologues are super funny. Also, the banter is really cute.
Garrett is very relatable as a single dad. His kids are hilarious and his parenting concerns are real. I thought that the beginning was a bit slow as Lauren took to long to decide to date him and the whole secrecy was too dragged out. But otherwise, this book was great!

I’ve enjoyed the single hot dads storylines. They’re funny and really swoon worthy... I enjoyed the relationships in this book, divorce doesn’t have to be ugly. Garrett’s respect for his ex wife even though maybe at times she lacked it for him, was really nice to read. The characters were so mature with their relationship, no guessing or playing games, expressing their feelings and letting their cards lay where they lay... definitely recommend
