Silhouette of a pine forest against a sky lit up green, pink and yellow with the Northern Lights.

Shifters, Irish mythology, and a whole lotta steam.

If their ancient enemy wasn't dangerous enough, wait until the MacConall clan of Hell Hounds find their fated mates.

Shirtless man with the spirit of a wolf behind him, stands in a dark forest.

Cormac MacConall pushed his feelings down deep.

There was no way in hell this human woman could be his anamchara, his fated mate. It was unnatural. She was human…beneath him…

And yet... He couldn't help thinking, what would it be like to have her beneath him?

USA Today bestselling author A.S. Green lives in chilly Minnesota and spends the all-too-short summers on Lake Superior, which is the muse for her paranormal and contemporary romances. She writes complex characters, action-packed plots, and snarky in-your-face banter. And, of course, loads of steamy love scenes.

When she's not writing romance, she's probably watching Outlander or pleading (unsuccessfully) with her husband to don the kilt she bought him last summer.

This was so good!!! Pacing was fantastic and the writing was great. Characters were layered and I felt a connection to each one, always a good sign. Cormac really was a glutton for punishment though. He refused himself any happiness in life after believing that he had failed his entire family as the eldest to protect them and prove his worth. Luckily his two remaining younger brothers don’t necessarily agree with his stubborn beliefs. Also his luck changes when he meets his fated mate, Meghan. Loved that Meghan wasn’t the run of the mill damsel in distress. Yes she found herself in lots of compromising situations due to her impulsive behavior (something she has in common with Cormac), but she’s pretty smart and resourceful.
I really enjoyed that although this had a romantic element to it, there was still a compelling storyline to fall into as well. I loved the mix of fae and old world heritage set in modern times. I liked Cormac’s brothers. And when there were steamy parts, it was never over done or made me roll my eyes. It was pretty hawt, but short. 👍. I also appreciated that Cormac wasn’t some manho character either. He had more taxing things on his agenda then looking for bed partners. Hopefully his brothers are the same. I’m excited to read Declan’s story next. Want to see more dynamics between all the other faes and how they get rid of the BC once and for all.

I was feeling hopeful coming into this one. And I really appreciated the author taking the time to include the mini term dictionary in the front.
This one was just a neutral read, it wasn’t really bad...but it wasn’t good either.
Some spoilerish content to justify rating below.
The heroine started out likable, but it took too long to get her story spit out. She became increasingly annoying as the book went on. She was straddling the TSTL category at moments. She never even got to explore or use any potential powers she might have. She tilted like once.
The H, Cormac, sounded like he would be attractive. But since he didn’t work, how did he get money? Did he steal it? Glamour it?
Intimate scenes were mild. Cormac not being able to keep himself under control near the end of the book could have put them in more danger. The fact he totally ignored, didn’t even call, his brothers for 50 years...I don’t care if they do live a long time, was disappointing. Could they not find him? And turns out they live like 30 minutes away from one another.
This had the potential to be detailed and good. But it lacked the spark of a true fantasy novel and felt quickly done perhaps.
Declan’s novel (a brother) is next, but you already meet the h and H in this book and they already know one another well. It took away the interest of who and how does he meet his mate for the next book. And neither seemed like interesting characters. Therefore, between this book and getting to know the next h in this book, it didn’t peek my interest and I won’t be exploring them.

I've read all three books of this series and I have to say that Hounded was fresh, funny, and inspiring. This book can be stand alone, but I suggest you read Guarded and Cursed. Guarded added intensity and Cursed added a lot of emotion. All were very well written and I would highly recommend this series to everyone.

Thank you A.S. Green for taking me on an extraordinary journey, one I won't soon forget.
