About the Author
I now live on a golf course with views to the ocean in Southern California with a loving wife and two cool cats.I get paid to fly jets.I have written 5 books.I have lots of time off and enough money to retire although I am only 54 (as of this writing).I am literally living the life of my dreams. What changed?I only changed how I think and therefore changed what I believe is possible. I focus on what I want instead of focusing on what I don't want. I am certainly not working harder. I simply changed my inner focus and created my desired outer reality. Most of us are simply unaware we have been programmed since birth to believe others are more capable than us or we falsely believe those that do achieve their dreams are somehow "different" or privileged. Untrue. Stay focused on what you want and do not listen to the doubts in YOUR mind. Those thoughts were placed there by others when you were young and defenseless. You are capable of greatness!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2017What a great book! Now, many people would wonder why I would buy this book. You see, I actually have a great fear of flying. I guess for the same reason why I bought Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, X-Plane, and an expensive Flight Sim Yoke for my computer. I am trying to conquer my fear of flying by learning about it and finding out how my fears are unfounded. How wonderfully comforting it was to read Mr. Lawrence's book and learn how dedicated, educated, passionate, and professional the commercial pilots have to be to work at an airline. It really calmed many of my fears now that I know when I fly with an airline, the pilots and flight crew have amassed thousands of hours of training and have been taught to handle any situation that may arise. I guess that's why it is safer to fly than to drive a car.
I'm not ready to go get my pilot's license, or pursue a career as a commercial pilot, but if I were to, I would follow this book's instruction page by page. I can totally see how this book could save thousands of dollars for someone wishing to become a commercial pilot. Thanks so much for writing this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2023Good info for getting into aviation although the author has somewhat of an atypical route which objectively means you lose out of information or the path the common pilot trainee would be doing. Still useful nonetheless.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2018This book points out certain things you can do in order to avoid spending too much money in your way to become a pilot. Also it provides some basic information you might find important before you start your pilot career.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2022Just recently I realized that I was not fulfilled with my many careers in my lifetime and the one that I wanted, besides being a good husband and father to my wife and our kids was as a pilot. As I approach age 55 and I look into the future, I realize that this is beyond me now. Being an insulin diabetic, I can't get my pilot's license and it definitely has depressed me lately. I'm sure that my grandkids will get their pilot's license when they become old enough is one thing that will help me continue purchasing books on the subject. This book has been one of the very best books on the subject and it was a joy to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2021If you have stumbled across this book as you try to decide if you want to become an airline pilot, buy it. It’s a quick 80 page read, packed efficiently with eloquent and straightforward information. Some of the things are slightly out of date. But the core of this information is helpful and applicable. I finished it in an afternoon, and I’m sure I will continue to reference it throughout my journey from aspiring pilot to ATP. Thank you Robert!

4.0 out of 5 stars This boos gives first hand experience sharing of a pilot
Honest but a little centric to America.
But it still helps a lot to understand the basic need and plan your journey as a pilot.
