- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2022As this series is set in more contemporary times, I find myself tempted to pick on details in what is quite a good story told well. I was familiar with the author's style having read the 'Empire of Bones' series. He keeps the reader interested in many main characters while telling their tales in alternating chapters/sections. The end leaves many plot threads dangling for the reader and I hope that means there will be a fifth book. This a series that certainly has room to grow. Since this story is set fairly close to current times and technology, I did disagree with some of the weapons choices and tactics in the major battle near the end of the book. However, since I have never been to war and am familiar with military weapons from historical study only, who am I to complain? I enjoyed the books and look forward to more especially in this series.
