Hunter's Blood is not only a wonderful supernatural read but it is also a wonderful story that holds an underlining issue of how far someone will go in the name of grief....

How many ways, and in how many languages, can I say "awesome"? I was truly blown away...Hunter's Blood...fast paced, well written and well edited.
--Gateway Edited Books, Review by Alexx Mom Cat @ Blogspot.com

"The author has woven a successful, suspenseful romantic paranormal. She gives life to characters that could be boring but they are not at all. Hunter's Blood will keep you entralled..." - Arianne, Night Owl Reviews. --Night Owl Reviews

From the Author

Hunter's Blood was never meant to be a full novel...it is a short story that sets the Cursed by Blood Saga into motion. It tells of Lily Saburi, a psychic investigator from New York City, who has just had her baptism by fire into the world of the supernatural. Her story then continues with book two, Twice Cursed, and so the saga unfolds...

A pleasure too short.....Hunter's blood is more a novella than a book and that explains why sometimes I felt the action rushed ( and it's the special edition, longer than the original one with extra scenes^^but still not enough). However despite that element I really enjoyed the story and Marianne really writes well, I found the idea really interesting , the psychic becoming hunter because in a sense it was already her job before just she didn't kill then and it was not focused on supernatural being. She just lost all measure when she lost her best friend and even if she came back as a shade, a kind of ghost, to advice her Lily doesn't listen because she is hurting.

The were aren't like all the others I've read about, a part of them is trying to live together despites the different species under the rule of a council with at his head a king who could shift in any of the species, for me that's the originality here because I'm used to shifters or were having only one animal form. The system of community made me think about the Keep under Crurran's rule in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. There are similarities yes but that's nothing...except that I was prepared for political trouble and those happened but we still don't know why, we get who is causing unrest but his motives are still undetermined when the book finish.

The character are promising, Lily is a psychic who doesn't know all she is capable of , having been hurt by her best friend's death she feel guilty and as a result get bends on revenge without knowing the reality of the supernatural creatures. She knows they exist but how that she doesn't try to understand until she is forced to.
Sean is the alpha of the council and he is confronted to an epidemic virus that makes the weres feral when they are infected...like his brother. As alpha it's his job to bring them down to protect the pack but it doesn't mean it's easy. When he is on his brother's trail, he meets Lily who tried to invade his mind... he doesn't know who or what she is but the attraction is strong however the pack come first so when he takes in the injured humans, it's not to everybody's taste.. I liked him but I was surprised he didn't act more alpha... yes he is the head of the council etc but someone threatens the life of his mate to be or at least his lover and he tried to find a diplomatic way to stop that...it's more calm and thinking that what I'm used with shifters.. not something bad mind you but with a short novella it wasn't enough.

So This this really a promising debut but I would recommend you to think about it more like an introduction because there are a lot of questions without answer, a cliffhanger , not a big edgy one but still it's there, so it would be better to have book 2 under hand to jump on it in hope to have our questions answered. If you love shifters and action as well as romance this is a excellent introduction to a new universe and I really want more of it.

I must have some sort of eye problem, because I completely missed the part where this is a novella, not a full length novel. I don't know, maybe the page number should have tipped me off, or maybe the sentence right before the synopsis that used words like "short story" and "novella". Don't get me wrong; I love novellas, especially when they come in between main books in my favorite series. I'm just not sure it was a right choice for book #1, but I digress.

I was pleased to find that I could connect with the characters fairly well, considering there was only 176 pages in which to get to know them. Lily Saburi is our heroine, and the author wastes no time in plunging her into some action. Lily is out to avenge her best friend Terry, who was attacked and viciously killed by a werewolf. Terry isn't completely gone though; for some reason she is stuck between life and death, and Lily is the only one who can see her, at least at first. I could feel the anguish and guilt that Lily suffered over her friend's death, and her desperation to kill whoever had done it. Of course this made her hate pretty much all supernatural creatures, so it's no surprise that she's wary of Alpha werewolf Sean Leighton at first. I thought Sean was a very likable hero; he was handsome, patient, and kind, as well as protective of Lily. I love a strong, chivalrous hero.

"I just have to bide my time, and let diplomacy do its work, but I promise you, if forced, I will restore the power of the Alpha and the absolute rule that goes along with it to protect you. You are my life, and nothing and no one will stop me from having you at my side." (Sean to Lily, Loc. 2122 on Amazon Kindle edition - sorry, no page numbers for some reason!)

That leads me to a problem I had with this book. Actually, it's the problem I already mentioned. Because this was only a novella, time skipped by in months from chapter to chapter. One chapter they would just be getting to know each other, and then months pass in which we can't see their relationship blossom. All of a sudden they were in love. Normally that would be a deal breaker for me, but since I saw the potential in the characters and the series it didn't bother me as much as it has in the past. I still wish this would have been a full length novel. I feel it would have allowed more time to get to know Sean and Lily, and make their relationship seem more genuine. However, I think the author did an excellent job of telling this story and setting up the rest of the series with such a limited amount of pages.

I liked that there was a twist on the traditional werewolf tale, with the disease aspect. It threw additional conflict into the mix, threatening Sean and Lily's bond and directing the entire story line. I liked how Lily wasn't just an ordinary human also; she had psychic powers that added another interesting facet.

Overall, this was a nice setup for the Cursed By Blood Saga, and think it fulfilled its purpose of getting me interested in the series. I definitely plan on reading book 2, called Twice Cursed. The synopsis sounds amazing and it's considerably longer at 318 pages! If you're looking for a new Paranormal Romance series, I highly recommend checking out Hunter's Blood.

After Lily's best friend Terry is killed by a werewolf Lily is after blood, anyone who prey's on the weak will do. This book has a fast pace. Although a short Book I think this will become a great series. Not for young teenagers

2.0 out of 5 stars Feels like a unfleshed out baseline for a book.

I gave up a few chapters into the book. This feels more like a baseline and rushed notes to create a story to be later polished ..and it never got polished. There is no character chemistry - you have a woman who is a psychic and knows about vampires but is oblivious to any other paranormal race. She hates the guy but a chapter later is throwing herself at him with no real reasonable build up or explanation.

4.0 out of 5 stars She's a kick ass kind of girl....

Werewolves, kick ass heroines and turmoil..couldnt ask for more...

Marianne had me hooked from the start, I wanted to find out more about the history between Lily and her best friend Terry, of which I will say no more.

Lily comes across as being very antagonistic and carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, so much so that she doesn't look after herself and gets herself in a situation out of her control.....step forward Mr Sean Leighton, Alpha Brethren of the werewolf pack...so our heroine who is quite alpha herself, now has to deal with the most alpha of males..

This book is well worth a read.. all the characters are likeable. This book is the first in a series ( I read the second one first) and even if you find a little short its worth moving on to no.2 which is altogether longer.

My 4 stars recommend the quality of the book, with one star off only because I felt it could have been longer (but thats just me!)

3.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable second book with a good story
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 2, 2014
This second book engaged me better than the first book in the series. The story was good and the character's gained more depth. But I found it rather discombobulated and it didn't mesh together quite as well as it could have. Especially regarding Ryan. He was heavily involved in the storyline and then he would disappear during the next few chapters and I was left wondering where he had gone; only for him to suddenly reappear. Considering he is the lead detective it just didn't work for me as well as it should have. Maybe if I had known where he was during the missing chapters. It just seemed like he was suddenly substituted by the male lead character, only to pop back up again in a later chapter and not really know what his role was. There were also quite a few niggling typo errors. I wouldn't normally mention them - but they did get quite annoying. Silly little things like incorrectly placed quotation marks starting or finishing outside of the dialogue and incorrectly using words such as 'there' instead of 'their'. I've given the book 3 stars because overall I did like the story and I believe the author is fairly new and she definitely showed promise. I will certainly be looking out for any other books she publishes.
